Brandon's output pace is a bit of a double edged sword. As you said if he spent more time on it the books would definitely be better (he's commented on stuff he wish he could have changed) but the Cosmere is such an ambitious project with his lifespan being the biggest constraint. If he manages to pull it all off I think it'll have all been worth it. Even now what he's doing is blowing my mind
Wish I caught it live this week! You'd like Blackwing. It's a mix of a Malazan style fantasy with a soldier in a special unit and these gods and ascended type kings pulling strings WITH a noir detective story of him dealing with corruption. I really dug it. Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet is one of my favorite David Mitchell books. I don't love Cloud Atlas as much as most seem to One of my favorites this year was When We Cease to Understand the World by Benjamin Labatut. It's a blend of biography and fiction about various scientists and the effects of their discoveries on themselves and the world.
Liked The Stand, Loved Swan Song. I don't love horror, in general, but I love Robert McCammon's writing style. Also his book Boy's Life literally saved my life, so McCammon has permanent residence in the soft spot of my heart. Hope you enjoy it if you ever get around to it!
No time stamp needed. You gonna earn it!! Haha. Thank you guys. Also. Just finished fires of heaven. Can see the reason why didn’t enjoy it. Not going to try to perused you otherwise. I enjoyed it. But that is why this is great. We need varying opinions. Can’t wait for 5 hours of Allen
Haha that's right! Nothing wrong with varying experiences, it's all about discussing and coming together. At the end of the day we are all on the same team!
It's been over a year since I read Words of Radiance and I still haven't read Oathbringer. I'm giving serious consideration to just waiting til Book 5 is out then I'll re-read Way of Kings and Words of Radiance and then continue. I've a similar scenario with Evan Winter's The Burning. Plus I wanna finish/get caught up on Malazan and Dresden in 2022, then take a break from Fantasy (a couple of months I think) and maybe continue RoTE and/or Dark Tower. After Malazan and Dresden I never wanna read more than one fantasy series at a time ever again, or at least not for a very long time.
@@marcelbeaudoin3886 Just giving something back to our tired teacher - I hope there was a moment he thought it was the genuine deal before he sees it's the _exact_ same words.
I have to echo a lot of your thoughts on the A Land Fit for Heroes. Morgan tries to subvert so many tropes simultaneously in these books that it comes at the expense of a coherent story. They are frustrating to read at times, but now, more than a year after finishing the trilogy, I catch myself thinking about these books much more frequently than about other series that I found considerably more enjoyable while I was reading them. Ringil and Archeth really grew on me and especially Ringil's journey made a lasting impression. Edgar remains the least developed and least interesting character of the main trio to me. But having read Prince of Nothing, I doubt I'll ever find a greater and more nuanced take on the Barbarian than Cnaiur. Even Karsa Orlong fades in comparison. I hope you'll continue with the series, I would love to hear your thoughts on the remaining two books!
Warlord Chronicles was such an addicting read, and I didn't even do the audiobooks. I look forward to reading Empire of Silence though that'll be after Hyperion Cantos and or the 2nd Red Rising trilogy.
3:03:30 Allen mentioned the NBC show “Life” with Damien Lewis!!! I loved that show! I have never heard anyone else mention it. I proselytize it everywhere I can, loan my DVDs to every coworker I can. Damien Lewis makes any show he is in, and Sarah Shahi has to be one of the hottest women alive.
Such a good show. I hate that they cancelled it. I still find myself saying sometimes this one weird line from one episode where he throws an apple at a criminal's head, knocks him out and then says "huh, I guess apples CAN be used in the solving of crimes!" 🤣
MORE PEOPLE SHOULD WATCH THIS SHOW! I know it’s not books, but maybe you should do a video, Allen. It might ride the LPQ wave. I’m halfway through Summer, btw. For me, the best aspect of the show was the relationship between Crews and Dani. They had great chemistry without it ever becoming any kind of sexual will-they-won’t-they thing. Favorite episodes are the pilot, Farthingale (?), Dig a Hole, and Fill It Up. One of the “lines” I still remember wasn’t even dialogue, it was a prop. The IRS agent was holding a mug that said “you are what you receipt.” I think I’m going to start a rewatch this weekend!
great as always. I love this so much. if you considering people to talk some bonehunters, maybe you could ask mike from mike´s books reviews, he absolutely loved it and he is great fun.

Rose Red!!! I’m not a big horror fan, but I love it! I think King actually wrote the script based off of The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson?
If you have the time Succession is an excellent television show for people who enjoyed the political machinations of Game of Thrones. The main family that the show is centered on is like a modern day version of the Lannisters.
I'm so behind on booktube :) if you want to get through WoT quickly then skim listen Kramer and Reading talk to slow so listen X2 is so do able that it halves the time also book 10 can be skipped.
The only bachman book that I have read is the long walk I absolutely loved it it reminds me of the hunger games so much more than the ballad of songbird and snakes did
I'm to the part where Allen is talking about reading the rest of a series alone and I feel like that with The Black Company. I enjoyed Books of the South way more than I enjoyed the first three and I feel like I'm one of like 5 people on booktube that has read them all. It is so odd. Everything everyone loves about the first three is in the rest of the series plus a ton more.

I loved The Steel Remains but I don't see why people say you've to read Kovacs before A Land Fit for Heroes. I remember you being really convinced you had to and I was baffled tbh. Prioritising finishing the trilogy this month. I love my Fantasy to be dark and or weird. I love the Kovacs trilogy but it's Morgan's first books so they can be rough at times. Love his writing style though.
