  • Hi everyone!! Thank you so much for all the comments, support and welcome to all the new subscribers since my previous video went live!! I am over whelmed by all the kind words and helpful advice.
    Last week I set off to the Carneddau mountain range of Snowdonia, a magical and peaceful place full of mystical wild ponies and colourful heather and bilberry bushes, waterfalls, rock formations, babbling brooks and the mighty Aber Falls!
    This is definitely a massive challenge for me after only venturing into Snowdonia for hikes a small handful of times. With a full backpack and side bag for my drone(for easy access) I set off on a self plotted, pathless route up the Afon Anafon to the reservoir before climbing towards the summit of Llwytmor at 849 m.
    The weather has been so rainy and windy running up to this trip I wasn't sure what to expect.. packed for all eventualities which of course once again added to the weight.
    Finding the perfect camp spot what another difficult challenge, with views of Anglesey and Llandudno and the Great Orme on my wish list.
    This is 'part one' of my most epic and favourite adventure yet! I will definitely be going back for more!
    I hope you enjoy this one, I had the most amazing experience, it is such a magical place.
    Thank you for watching... part two coming soon!! xx

    Since I found your channel a couple of weeks ago, I've enjoyed watching you grow. More knowledge and experience of the outdoors and of your videography. Wind is definitely something to be aware of but a low profile tent like yours will take a lot. Your gas canister can use far more gas in winds and potentially leave you short on gas. You can use a folding windscreen (or folding home made from a baking tray foil). I tend to use the stove in a partly open tent in bad conditions.
    When pitchung a tent, just be aware of dips in a flat bit, they can fill with water. Not always easy to spot.
    The vegetation in boggy areas is different. Bog trotting is a skill. Standing on the correct plant will support your weight. I look forward to the second part. Well done.

    Hard work bashing through that pathless terrain. You are developing your skills really quickly.
    Two poles keeps you more in balance.
    Love the wilderness of the northern slopes of the Carneddau. When the rest of Snowdonia is mad busy you can still escape the crowds.
    Another great video. Thanks

    Not gonna lie, I half expected the white horse to have wings, like Pegasus! The path you have taken up, far exceeds what I was expecting, looks stunning. The view from your pitch is pretty awesome, going off the beaten track has its risks but has its rewards also.
    Your drone footage is great, the whole video is very well done👏 look forward to part 2🏞🤘

    Looks like you had a great time, I'm jealous as I'm still recovering from a bad fall :) For a stove, try and get a Trangia 27 with a kettle. You will never want to use anything else. One small bit of advice, again your rucsac, looked like you were leaning into it and so moving the center of gravity, making it harder to carry, you can loosen the straps at the top of the shoulder straps to allow you to lean forward in the harness and the rucsac wiill remain upright making going up hill a lot easier, conversely pull tight for going downhill.

    • @AdventuresWithLilu
      @AdventuresWithLilu  Рік тому

      Hmm OK...thanks for your advice. I need to take another look at the straps, maybe.. it felt OK this time, but the next day, my collar bone was sore and really swollen. I put it down to not being used to the weight...hmm

    Lovely video, at 70 and older and knackered I can no longer climb mountains but I do love watching videos like yours, I have subscribed because your videos make me long to be out there again under canvas, in a Vango Force Ten , everything packed in a Karrimoor Jaguar V Rucsack, trusty James Boylan Vibram boots to keep my toes nice and dry and a Bobby sportswear Ventile Jacket, these days, no boots, Berghaus Arrow 35 Sac, and a Berghaus Gore-tex Jacket, no tent, things/equipment change over time, thankfully memories don’t, back in my younger years no GoPros, no drones, but the hostels were great, Kendal Mint Cake very yummy, and here I am now reminiscing about the good old days, but that was my time, now it’s your time, enjoy it, it won’t last for ever, but you have the added bonus of being able to produce excellent videos, very well scripted, great music, great scenery and in years to come you will have many memories to cherish, thank you so much for sharing, I watch lots of outdoor videos due now to disability and other problems which limits me to a 20min walk in the park, but the memories are important, thank you Mike West Bromwich

      @AdventuresWithLilu  Рік тому

      Oh that's sad you aren't able to carry ut on but yes the memories camt be taken away. That's why I try and do as much as i can while I can..who knows what is round the corner. The video making keeps me company in a way and stops anxiety creeping in but also gives me a purpose to go..like a project to focus on. Otherwise I wouldn't go I think. Iv got lots to learn but I'm making my way and loving every minute. Thank you for all the kind words. Next year I hope to find some of that kendall mint cake! 🙏🏻 x

  • @markjones127

    My neck of the woods, the Carneddau is on my doorstep, you took the toughest route out of the Anafon bowl, Llwytmor is a brutal slog up either side, if you'd have headed directly for the summit of Drum it's super easy with plenty of criss-crossing animal tracks to choose from, you just can't see them from the lake until you're on them, and the gorse catches a lot of people out in that area where it attacked you earlier on, it will be interesting to see where day 2 takes you, I'm sure I recognised one of the waterfalls on Afon Goch in your intro, that steep boggy terrain takes it out of you though for sure!

    Those canister stands are brilliant, look out for fold up windshield, unless you already have one, they don't weigh much and take up no room but it will help give you a more efficient burn saving you gas. Love Wales I've just come back from Cader Idris a couple of days ago, stunning place.

      Thanks for watching... I parked just before the pub against the wall for free. I went on a week day around 9 am, and it was quiet. Yeh, it's a small wooded area not far from Mermaids pool before u get to redbrook
      Looks a v popular camp spot tho. Enjoy!

    Great video; but what on earth are you carrying in that huge pack? You do seem to manage it though.

      @@AdventuresWithLilu lol ….. amazing. By the look of it you had an evening gown, plus a full set of silverware, table & chair as well as a generator and an electric oven. 😂 I’m impressed.
      I’ve managed to trim my bag down to 10-11 including food & water. You did incredibly well. Please remember your electrolytes.

    I want to go wild camping, but as a woman on my own I get so scared. Any tips?

      Tbh I only feel scared if I know other humans are about. If I'm on a mountain in the muscle of nowhere it doesn't bother ne at all. When I camped in sherwood Forest, I did feel quite uneasy. Once in zipped in my tent, and it's dark, I don't really care tho...
