That could also explain why she takes his thing, since he's entering the location of location victims. Location-bound spirit might try to end him instead
This might also be a way for Okarun to get grannys power back. I can imagine a very strong alien appearin that Momo can't take alone, so Okarun makes a pact with Granny (if she still exists) to protect Momo (and every other girl) from getting violated by aliens.
God , I hope the adaptation keeps up with this quality because the manga only gets BETTER from here. Also, the actress who voices Momo Ayase is too freaking good. She's constantly KILLING IT with the delivery of her lines.
This is powerful, and you can take credit for it, because I don't think that's what the mangaka was thinking. 1. Turbo granny is an actual urban legend 2. In fiction, the location bound spirit was originally a separate and already formed entity that started to merge with her
@@ragnar3434 While the Turbo Granny legend absolutely already existed, I'd be willing to bet it was 100% intentional that Yukinobu Tatsu paired her with a location haunted by the spirits of assaulted girls, they're absolutely the kind of mangaka to pay attention to the implications of those sorts of details.
That's why the Location Bound Crab Spirit attacked the bear sign is because that's like PTSD to some of the victims. Just like what Granny Seiko said: Some were sexually assaulted. Some were torn to pieces (Bears and worse, Humans.) That's why Turbo Granny insists on taking away people's weenies because she's preventing women falling into victims towards these predators. The same way she did to protect Momo against the Serpo Aliens and ate their "Bananas." It's also why she checked Momo between her Legs while she on Episode 3 to see whether or not she was injured to know if she was sexually assaulted or not.
So about that last part. In the manga, when Turbo Granny is holding unconcious Momo by the leg and lifting her up, we get a far more clear shot of her mouth wide open and her teeth overlapping Momo's thigh as she's going to take a big bite out of Momo's ass. I don't think she was 'checking' for signs of abuse, she really was just going to eat her. They kind of messed up that shot in the anime.
In Japanese you don’t say Sayonara unless it is a goodbye in which you will not see the other person; so instead you always say something along the line of “see you tomorrow.” Or “Hope to see you soon.” This makes the scene between Momo and Ken even cuter with Momo saying “See you Tomorrow” mean she wants to keep seeing him and not say goodbye yet
Hello, I'm Japanese. What you said is actually not true. 'Sayonara' is just the same as 'goodbye' in English. You can use it to someone you expect to see soon. Many westerners seem to misunderstand it, and I see a few comments in other reaction videos too that say 'sayonara means long goodbye', but it is not. 'Sayonara' is the most generic word to use when you part with someone just as 'goodbye' in English. I understand why people want to think 'sayonara' means 'long goodbye' because it would seem to make more sense in this scene, but rather, it is because 'sayonara' can mean either short goodbye or long goodbye that Momo and Okarun reflected on the word. ("Did she/he mean a 'short goodbye' or 'long goodbye' ?") If it just meant 'long goodbye', the nuances of this scene would be lost.
Good, I'm glad someone brought this up. It's not critical to understanding the scene, but it makes me feel even *more* warm and fuzzy, and everyone should have that! 😁
Them running away from the spirits is mostly new anime exclusive content. Manga is was a single page with 4 panels of running in a straight line before Ken reached his limit
I saw the crab form as another meaning. What if the spirits of the girls who couldn’t move on trapped the spirits of those who would have? Like how crabs will pull a crab that is trying to escape from a bucket back down with them.
13:18 the fact that this entire sequence is only 2 PAGES in the manga... I was literally tearing up when I first saw it, this entire episode was pure perfection from start to finish. Science Saru really giving the manga justice here
It's funny, usually animes trim chapters down to a few episodes, but with Dandadan the anime has to add scenes to slow down compared to the manga's breakneck pacing. It's like those rare few songs that get slowed down in their eurobeat remix version because of how fast the original song is lol.
my god as a pianist i was hit with psychic damage the moment i hear call "William Tell Overture Finale" a "corny ass song", even before the remix hit which i look it up at is call William Hell Overture", simple but amazing
the EDM remix of the William Tell Overture is a GENIUS maneuver, and I will brook no argument. When I heard that, my soul was ejected from my body and is still floating around up in the stratosphere somewhere. My understanding is that In Japan that song is played at school sporting events, and is specifically associated with children's/teenager's footraces over there the same way it's associated with Horse racing over here.
I'm remember seeing someone point out in a comment on a different video that the reason why Turbo Granny stole Okaruns' "weiner" is probably because of all the girls that formed the crab spirit.
It's a possible interpretation, sure. More importantly, it KINDA explains/recontextualizes why Turbo Granny bothered to leave the tunnel and reach out for Momo (who being assaulted by the Serpio) in the first episode.
It's honestly incredible to see how much of a story they told without saying a whole lot. The series could end right here and I'd consider it a 10/10 master class in short story animation. 4 episodes and a whole arc occurred with character growth, strong women and a guy with an (almost) unwavering resolve to support in anyway he can, along with a compelling story and motivation to kick said story into Turbo! ....Uzumaki wtf man?

It's just part of her foul-mouth personality. And another information that is being shared right now is the reason why granny entered the phone in episode 1 is because granny tried saving momo is purely a fan speculation. The truth is, it's just a scene thought by the author of thinking on how he can make momo encounter okarun in his cursed state and momo being saved from the aliens. And the fan speculation would get immediately destroyed if people remembered that granny have been trying to unalive momo since episode 1 and almost vayo-lated her in episode 3. So the point is, there are scenes where you don't have to think too deeply about the plot and there are crazy fan speculations. But in the end, just enjoy the show.
Knowing the nature of Granny explains so much of her actions in episode 1. She attacked the serpio because they were about to assault momo.
As someone who read the manga I've never thought of that
