  • Picked up this very inexpensive Jackson the other day and was very impressed. Played much better than anything else in and above it's price range.
    You can pick one up too by following this link.

    I just got this for Christmas and holy hell it is kick ass. I've been in the market for a seven string to learn songs from bands that use seven strings and I couldn't be happier with it.

    Hoping to get the satin black JS Series Dinky Arch Top JS22-7 DKA HT, with Amaranth Fingerboard tomorrow, as the reviews have been stellar for 2019, and only the Schecter Hellraiser seems to beat it for some. Can't wait to try the action myself. Been playing an old Pan SG that's falling apart on me, and the body just doesn't fit a female player (at least a busty one). Even the strap post/peg jams straight into my chest. The St. Vincent from Ernie Ball at $3K (CDN) is out of my current price range (even if it was designed for women by a woman), it only has the standard number of frets, and it's a 6-string. None of which are selling it for me. This Jackson seems amazing, let alone for the price. Now I just hope the guitar fits me okay (the struggle is real - nothing is made for women's bodies). I'm looking forward to wider spacing, too. I think they've improved the neck design for playability from the older models of this Dinky, but I'm not sure. Apparently at the high end it flattens out a bit for better access.

    Just ordered this for 160 on sale waiting on it to come. This will be my second try trying to get into 7 strings maybe the longer scale will make it not sound so loose this time. This will be my Frankenstein guitar. I will use this to learn how to replace pickups. Would it handle 62 gauge on the b string or would I need to sand the nut slot?

      Zanky Watanabe that's pretty odd. I haven't had that problem. I would say try glueing some small weights in the control cavity to see if you can balance it out. Only downside is you are adding weight to the guitar. I've never actually done this, but I don't think it would cause any issues as long as they are secured well and you don't glue them directly to any components. Never tried this but it makes sense in my mind haha. Hope you can solve this issue!!!!

      Cythix I would say adjust the trussrod in the neck just slightly to see if that fixes it. Shouldn't take much at all. This is common on any guitar. I even have to adjust my Music Man whenever the weather changes.

    Great video man!!!
    I got a question: I just bought that same guitar (JS22-7) and I don't know if is just my guitar or what, but it feels like the factory setup is wrong or something. Can you please tell me what's the action setup on your guitar and the right height for both pickups? Or at least what you recomend.
    Thanx a lot!

    First of all, I'm a new subscriber, and I think your playing is awesome! I have two questions for you about this guitar. I've been looking at reviews for it and have found a lot of complaints about fret buzz. I have also seen about the same amount of reviews saying it's not an issue. Did you experience any? Is this what you were talking about concerning the low frets? Also, have you had a chance to compare it to the ltd M-17?

    • @GearingUpShow
      @GearingUpShow  8 років тому +3

      Walter Black Motovlogs
      Thank you for your compliment!
      I have had zero fret buzz issues. fret buzz is however pretty common on ALL guitars, so I'm sure it will eventually pop up. a quick set up can take care of this no problem so I wouldnt judge too many guitars based on reviews that talk about fret buzz. its usually easy to fix.
      as far as the lower frets comment what i meant was, I am used to playing 6 strings and the space between the frets is much smaller due to the shorter scale length. It just took some getting used with the bigger fret spacing.
      This guitar is a very nice 200 dollar guitar. Its actually pretty light for its size. It feels solid and plays very well.
      i actually did put it up against the LTD when I was playing all of the 7 strings at sam ash. I really prefered the body style of the jackson much better. it just fit me better. I also did not like the gloss black on the LTD and much preferred the matte black of the jackson. the Jackson pickups were much better in my opinion too. LTD sounded very muddy to me.

    Is that a JP70 on the wall? if so do you prefer the JS22-7 over the JP70? just in the market for my 1st 7 string and wondering if its worth it to go with the JP70 or get the JS22-7 and use some of the money saved to upgrade the pick ups at a later date. Thanks!

    • @GearingUpShow

      Dustin B The JP on the wall is the JP6. I think you could spend a lot less money and get plenty of guitar. Look at Legator guitars or Daimond guitars.

    Jackson J22-7 for 150$ or Scheckter Demon-7 for 350$? (is there a huge difference in action/playability between those two? just to check if the 200$ difference is worth it)

      Fender Stage master 7, Floyd rose. I think they are about $250 or so. had mine for 15 years. I love it. But the pickups are not as good as the Jackson.

      @@GearingUpShow I was always told not to mix them because they run on different frequencies. The more I talk to other guitarists though they like blending distortions. I always wanted to try the ibanez tube screamer

    • @GearingUpShow
      @GearingUpShow  4 роки тому +2

      @@asleepon I don't know who's saying not to use them together but that's silliness lol. Set your tone the way you like it on your amp, then put the tube screamer in front of the amp. The trick is to turn the distortion all the way down on the pedal, but turn the volume all the way up. Sounds crazy but trust me.

    • @GearingUpShow

      Turn the volume all the way up on the pedal that is....not the amp lol.
