I just played through this game. It was very fun and challenging. The visuals and music was so good! I loved using Maui’s ninja form. I never even heard of this game untold this year, and I am someone who collects old SNES games! Definitely a hidden gem!
From what I understand, the natives worship the Frog, and feeding a bunch of them too it persuades their leader to tell you where to find the spirit of the Shaman that knows how to find the idol, and the Witchdoctor trying to use it in a ritual. The natives are nutty, apparently the "prize" for surviving their area is their highest honor: being dumped in the volcano.
Eurocom changed a lots of stuff on the SNES port, the original version on the Genesis and PC is a different story, you have to fought the frog yourself by aiming and shooting bombs into its mouth every time it tries to attack you with its tongue.

Definite version of the game, the genesis one looks like a hot mess compared to this. The colors in this game are so damn vibrant and the animation also is silky smooth, in the this round the genesis really lack allot of color in comparison.
Unfortunately, there's no boss theme in the SNES version. The boss theme in the Genesis version sounds awesome and it's one of my favorite boss themes.

Maui Mallard In Cold Shadow always struck me as one of Donald Duck's weirder games. I mean, who was Maui Mallard supposed to be, anyways? Some sort of alter ego that never took off? Ah well, still pretty cool game, though, especially the visuals and music.
One thing the thumbnail has nothing to do with the video because on the picture it shows Donald shooting at the moon that doesn’t even happen in the video last time I checked so I hope one day you change that thumbnail

There was another boss in pre-release screenshoots with the big eye in the background of the land of the dead stage, at least for the Mega Drive version. It would attack with smaller eyes. Wouldn't be surprised if they put it there just to attractthe attention of Disney's censors to overlook the rest of the game.

6:16 is the Frog himself even the boss? It looks more like the frog is helping you defeat those little guys up top.
