- We are to the point of choosing the stain for the log cabin. We reached out to Sashco and they provided us with some samples to try and I think we have a winner! Let us know what you think.

About Me.

We used Sikkens stain on our log cabin, washed/cleaned the logs with Simple Green to a quantity of water and started at the gable end at the peak, used a handled scrub brush on about a 5 foot wide area working our way down. That way any drips running down the logs we got to them before they made any run marks that wouldn't wash out. Doing a great job, stay safe, be careful, take it easy and keep warm and dry.

Use the Transformation. No need to clear coat it (which peels). I did my log house 6 years ago with 2 coats of "Brown tone" I think. I believe the darker the less often it needs restained. Still looks great, even the part that gets a lot of sun. Excited to see that cabin polished up!

@@hickoryridgehomestead9177 The first coat worries a person, but the second coat dries to a shine (probably the oil base). I don't think it's for inside though. Might have a similar colored water based one for that. Really can't recommend it enough. Spendy, but worth every penny...hides imperfections like a champ as well
@@hickoryridgehomestead9177 My house is 1600 square foot footprint by about 8 foot walls, took around seven gallons for two coats BTW. Good thing to have leftovers of though, really protects exposed wood

Beautiful white cochen rooster. Mace quiet breed . Better egg layers are the Bahamas there huge chickens look múch same lay more eggs not so broody . Nice build . Your home is going to be very pretty .

That is my favourite colour colour stain too. Good idea to have inside and outside the same - no worries re leakages or dribbles.
You can buy a product called Sikkens. It has the stain and sealer all together if you want. It costs quite a bit but lasts a long time. You can get it at Sherwin Williams for sure, but I think Home Depot has it too. It may also, be called Prolux.

Worked a spot job for a Kansas outfitter. Put a orange down first then a dark color. On dried over paid log siding. Made the old farm house look great but.... My wages an his extra. You made the right decision.

Good color choice and wise to use it indoors and out. Hope you rinsed the bleach off your tractor and the tires. Stain next year. Get caught up on back burner projects. Nice Fall days there.
I liked the darker light color. I'm one who just wants a clear coat n everything. Will you do both inside and outside in the color you choose?

I say go with clear gloss polyurethane no stain. But what do I know ?👍😎
I'm sure you've already thought about it, but the fade factor, might indicate a darker color to start with

You thought of doing the same as DIYfferent with the gable end and put polycarbonate sheeting to close it in and bring more light in Stephen???
That would cause too much heat loss on a house this size and would make it hard to heat.

Do you have to stain it? Once you stain it you have to keep doing it for the rest of your life. Something to think about.

I worry about all of the water inside when you pressure wash. Would sand blasting be a better option?
