Today we're talking about the 2 most popular fintech virtual banks: Wise, formerly known as Transferwise, and Revolut.
What are the pros and cons of each app, and which one is better for you?
Even though they're similar, there are some differences between them which will make them more or less appealing to certain clients, depending on what someone is looking for.
When these platforms first came out people were skeptical on how safe they are. Over the years they've proven that not only they're very safe, but also much more convenient and faster than traditional banking.
When it comes to user experience both Wise and Revolut have amazing platforms that are easy to navigate. In the fintech world, these 2 probably have the best user experience.
The differences between these 2 are mostly in areas of availability, features and fees.
Wise is available in lot more countries - this is amazing!
Both are quite attractive when it comes to conversion rates.
How about the ease of sending money? I'd give a slight advantage to Revolut here, as it's more straightforward to do transfers.
When it comes to risk tolerance, neither of these companies are risk tolerant. if you're doing something that they might not like even remotely, your bank account will be shut down.
I've seen more people being shut down with Revolut, than with Wise.
Neither of them are good for larger amounts of money. Wise consideres transactions over $30 000 to be large transactions. Once you start sending or receiving larger transfers, there will be questions.
Wise has a yearly limit of 1 million dollars per year turnover for personal accounts, and 4 million for business accounts. So, it's clear that these services are not dealing with large amounts of money.
One extremely cool feature in Revolut, that Wise doesn't offer, is the ability to generate many virtual cards. This is good from the safety point of view, as you can use one card to facilitate just one transaction, and shut it down afterwards.
These are both amazing prodcusts, and if you don't have an account with either of them you should definitely consider getting one.
They both offer good debit cards, that are linked to your app and you can track your transactions seemlesly.
This is especially useful if you travel a lot and pay in multiple different currencies. Your conversion rates will certainly be better than if you're using your traditional bank's credit card.

Very useful, have used Wise extensively over the years, great service relatively simple business model. Just getting to work with Revolut so looking forward to a deeper dive! Appreciate that you focused on the value not on the apps. :)
Been waiting for this one a long time, thanks Michael
Always happy to be of service!
How did you like the video?
@@OffshoreCitizen Was good, only thing I'm wondering is which option less risky for depositing crypto profit
Personal Banking: Monzo (UK) > Revolut
International transfers: Wise > anything !
Good overview and interesting presentation. Very valuable.Thank you !
The video I have been waiting for!
Haha and we delivered 😄
How did you like it?
@@OffshoreCitizen It was good. It came to confirm what I already had been experiencing. Revolut is better to park our money in Europe and use it abroad, and transfer wise is better to transfer funds across continents.
Wise is a great. No issues at all - so far. I liked Revolut until they shut me down without reason. I did like Revolut’s proximity service when you use the phone for payment.
Same here!
it just happened to me with no reason, what is the best alternative?
@@_jkbwhat happened?
Thanks, OC. I'm new to this game and needed to move some capital from UK to NZ (and likely vice-versa later), checked out Wise, Spend and another based on one of your earlier videos. I've in the past been an OFX user; but quickly saw how much of 'my' money I received at the end of the process was far better with both Spend and Wise. Opened and tested accounts with both, finding Spend easier to use, but Wise gave me a little bit more of my money at the end-point.
So, how do Revolut and Wise (and others) stack up when it comes to optimal gains at the end of a transfer (money exchange) process?
I'm also interested in understanding about the debit/credit card options of both; if my son were to go work offshore in various countries in the future (covid allowing), such as UAE, Malaysia, Europe, UK, US?
Have seen my Transferwise (now wise) time frame of transfer UK-Malaysia reduce over the last few years from 5-3 days to recently 15 minutes approx, which I think is excellent.
Nice!
Have you ever tried Revolut?
Very happy with Wise.
Nice! Have you ever considered using Revolut too?
great commentry, not too fast life how many others speak...easy to understand
As a multimillionaire, wise appears to be the best platform across every one I have ever used for all my international customers. Thanks for this video
Wise as long as you move money from a Chartered Bank to a chartered bank...no problems. banks to people can be a problem - all my workers overseas have a bank account in the same bank (different branches), makes it easier.
I had problems with both ! They block your transfers, and you don't even know why 'cause they refuse to tell you.
Looking forward to a new solution !
How is it available in more countries when revolut you can literally hold so many currencies ? Wise is mainly available in US UK and europe australia. Correct me if am wrong?
I have been using Wise for its wire transfer feature when indulging in my watch hobby. No issues there at all. I am wondering about storing some funds there in different currency. I am hoping to migrate to Dubai in the next year or so, and building up some AED when rates are favorable would be nice.
I have a Wise account and recently my balance exceeded $3000 and was advised that on personal accounts there would be a daily fee for amounts over $3K so keeping large sums in an account will cost you some fees. Also, their customer service is positively atrocious. If you did not receive an expected transfer of money their help desk says to send them an email but there are no actual email addresses listed anywhere. The emails that are out there (after a search) don't result in anything. Basically, there is hardly any customer service if things go awry. I am still waiting for assistance after days of waiting
did u end up moving to dubai?
Hey, great video. Wondering if you would know whether or not you have to report to the IRS the money that you're moving back and forth using transferwise like you would have to do if you had a bank account in another country.
I got a Wise account. Zero instructions how to use their service, limitations etc. I also got their Visa card, only to discover that the payout limit per month is laughable. In addition, if I transfer a large amount to their service - what happens if they suddenly close my account? Is my money gone? Looks like their service is intended for tourists.
what are the allowed amounts per month?
Warning om Revolut faulty app. Communication is limited and you get error messages. Im locked out of my account because I changed my phone and there is a big problem trying to verify its me. Otherwise. Revolut is great. Just don't appreciate having a 100k I can't access.
Revolut have a VERY LOW tolerance for anything. Closed me down multiple times. Hate them lol 😂
Do you know the reason?
@@muaawiyahtucker money laundering
@@Sam-pn2kc If you try to understand the KYC you will understand what triggers them.
Always have multiple banks... I got local banks in four countries (old fashion high street banks), Revolut and Wise. Both in my personal name and businesses name. Spread the money between it and have some activity on each.
You can stay way below the radar with most normal businesses for any unnecessary paperwork.
If you do loads of transactions that don't make sense and you use the same account then many banks have triggers.
I am watching this to improve our fintech app you may consider switching?
Does anyone know the limit or ammount I can send to Europe from America at once ? Also i know it automaticly converts the money but can I receive it in US dollars in Europe ?
Thank you
You're welcome!
Are you using any of the two?
Thanks dawg
You're welcome!
Are you using any of the two?
Would my bank get triggered if i suddenly started receiving money from Wise? Plan on selling my cryptos with Wise in the US
Hi,which one of this card is accepted at Amazon seller?wise or revolut
does any of them provide an Italian IBAN please?
Apparently, Revolut shut me down without a reason. Now I'm thinking to make a wise account. Has anybody had a bad experience with Wise?
You can read about different experiences in the comments.
Was our comparison helpful?
Don’t do it Wise shut me down without a reason , try to contact them , nobody response, it’s crazy , they got my money over a year. Wise is trash
Wise keeps shutting me down I don’t know why
If i buy something online and use wise or revolut, Can I get my money back if the seller is a Scam?
Living in Ukraine 4 years. Use wise to hold UAH. And I have a few local banks in Ukraine I can’t send my uah from wise to my Ukraine bank account in second’s
Can or can't?
Revolut has so many hidden fees compared to Wise..
I heard that Wise debit card is not available for USA. Is this correct?
it is available in the US
Do you habe a virtual card on wise?
Yes
And how is the Starling Bank's multi currency account in comparison?
Starling only offers GBP & EUR so not really a true multi-currency account.
@@taj-sid usd as well if you have business account
Starlink is rubbish. It's very elementary and not very well thought out from an international perspective. They need more years to try to figure out what they actually are trying to accomplish.
Besides these, can you please guide which bank allows us to open a bank account remotely that will allow us access to PayPal?
I'm from Karachi city of Pakistan.
You need to be a resident of the country where your PayPal account is located
@@OffshoreCitizen Well... You could set up a business with a better payment infrastructure... Let's say the Delaware solution and get both Stripe and Paypal for your business even if the owners aren't in these places.
I know a few guys that moved to Asia with that problem and solved it that way around.
Thanks again for sharing information.
My question for you is….
What happens when you need to transfer an amount like $300,000 to euros to buy a condo? If they only allow 30,000 increments that would take a long time like 10 transfers. How do I deal with this situation? We definitely want to get the best currency rate
Wise doesn’t respond to any question once they’ve evaluated you.
With respect: Your videos are clearly aimed at an experienced audience. I am brand new to Revolute and have just discovered that there are many other offerings. I have little idea of what these products are used for, nor even how to use them. Further, I don't understand why I should have them. Teaching 101 compels the teacher to educate the student on the WHAT, WHY, HOW questions/answers. You are preaching to a choir of which I am NOT a member. Knowledgeable user, it appears BUT a bad teacher.
Wise will and can deactivate your account with 0 warning. And you wont be able to reopen it. The number you registered you account with will be blacklisted
Same for revolt
Do you find another thing bro ?
Is It Morally Justifiable to Use Revolut? (because of the working conditions)
🙄🤦🏿♀️
Why?
Name me one bank that treats employees and customers well...
See you in 2030 :-)
You Are Very vague
I just want to transfer money from china, anyone have experience?, I have wechat, icbc account, so revolut is good? I'm also trying to get medical Insurance not sure if they have a deal?
