I got a mini type c hub with power passthrough with a plug and play 5tb USB hdd connected to it. I was juggling games on the internal 512gb and now have my entire steam library on it. Stuff I wouldn't even try like cod black ops 3 with + 200gb workshop content all at my finger tips. I am getting the same speeds as the internal SD card.
I'm waiting for my save point and controller, supposedly they've been shipped already. Planning to stick the magnetic ring on the modcase and run windows off that. Only reason i got the controller was the see through body lol. Skipped the bag because i already have a tomtoc sling, also skipped on their charger because i could buy a cheaper, similar one elsewhere.
Is this the same Genki that made the "Tokyo Xtreme Racer" games back in the day? I like that SSD. It reminds me of an accessory for the PSP made by Datel. That one had a 4GB microdrive (spinning rust - because solid state was still ungodly expensive then) which connected to your PSP through a flexible Memory Stick cable. IIRC, it was $200; but, you got an extended battery bundled along with it. Why would you want a hard drive strapped to the back of your PSP? A 1GB Memory Stick was well over $100. I think the biggest Memory Stick available at the time came in at 2GB.
Or better yet just go out and get a 2280 m.2 with an enclosure and plug it in and you essentially have a portable storage which you can use with other devices
If you have the necessary stuff I'd be curious to see how well it fits on the dbrand Killswitch case, if that case is being used to hold an external battery. Cause having that external SSD would be really nice, but I very rarely have my steamdeck working without also having a 20000mah battery attached via the killswitch case.
was considering this when it was a kickstarter, 1. can you do a test mounted to steamdeck in terms of battery life, like example, if you play a game off the external genki drive on battery power, do we still get around 1-2hrs of batt or does it pull more juice. 2. on the power pass thru, if you plug a dock to the power side of it, will it recognize the dock or only charge? reason id do it with genki on it would be so i can transfer games from external hdd to the genki . unless thers a better way to do that? i also wanna know about the magsafe aspect and magnets possibly damaging the deck
bruh how did you get your order before first backers? I still haven't gotten mine yet and I originally backed the save point (before they added the rest)
Very cool video! Sorry but I have a question... Is there truely a noticeable speed difference between a MicroSD Class10 Extreme and an SSD? I have a 512gb internal SSD and a 512gb MSD and I personally see no difference. I've been looking to add more storage and if this really does improve performance, even in the 1% I'll do everything I can to get the maximum performance.
It does. You get better performance with ssds but they also last longer as well. Micro SDs won’t last as long because of the constant read and writes happening to the card
I thought it was bad to use any magnetic accessories with any of the handheld devices due to it shortening the life of the handheld because it can potentially damage the logic board
A pledge is basically saying "I will definitely pay later", essentially earmarking the donation sheet for your name. The charge comes later. I don't think Genki has had a failed campaign yet, but I don't know their whole history
exFat, probably yeah. I don't know if SteamOS requires a particular format for game storage, I don't have a Deck and the public image is still in the oven.
.....does the Gcloud read a usb drive if you plug it in? I have honestly never touched a Gcloud, but it would show up the same way a usb jump/thumb drive would
@ if you have an SSD plugged into the USB C port while playing or all the time I feel like that would stress the port out over time or even makes it more likely for you to damage the usb c port due to bumps or drops.
I really want to see a Windows 11 dual booting of Steam Deck with Save Point SSD, even though I missed the Kickstarter period that's what I thought of the product as soon as I saw it 🫠
You can still preorder via kickstarter up to 2nd December. I ordered everything but the SSD as I'm sceptical 😂 not sure i need windows as much as I feel like FOMO
that thumbnail was lying...
Fr 💀
Yeah, definitely just clicked to see coverage of the white OLED.
Where is the white steam deck?
Most of these UA-camrs do clickbait thumbnails tbh, one of the best examples is (Jacob R). Jacob R is just unironically cringe.
@@eduarde9 That external 2TB drive is a must buy. It's only 71 dollars CAD.
They showed up out of the blue at his "office" with a fat check that is...
Bag is straight murdering those thumbsticks lol
Mounted the drive right over the APU...
The white Steam Deck looks so beautiful!

wouldn't that magnet interfere with fans? I remember kill switch magnet caused issues
@@dirtiestharry6551 yh I would avoid the magnet
You could put your Batocera on that 2Tb drive.
What on earth, the thumbnail is a straight up lie???

at this point, just replace the internal one with 4tb, and get a 1.5tb micro sd and you're set for a long time
@@MisterPikol good luck finding a 4tb in the size that the steam deck takes 👍

I use the Flydigi Vader 3 for docked play, and it's awesome.
Kickstarer backers should be getting theirs soon!

would have been nice if there was an in-depth review of the Saya..

how much additional battery does the Savepoint use?
I was looking at these recently, perfect timing with the video
Is there an,alternative to the ssd thing here?
Can I purchase this without an SSD to get Windows on my steamdeck??? Or do I need to purchase it?
It doesn't seem to come with storage on Amazon, probably a review drive so ETA doesn't have to find an SSD himself
bruh how did you get your order before first backers? I still haven't gotten mine yet and I originally backed the save point (before they added the rest)
Review unit.
@MansakeLabsOfficial I crode
I love em bro...❤❤❤❤
What about the 100W battery pack please?
Would the ssd work with the Odin 2?
Does the genki SSD overheat?

RIP thumbsticks
Does the SAYA fit the steam deck with the jsaux mod case and cover?
It didn’t look like it was a crazy tight fit for the deck and that case doesn’t add a lot of bulk. I’d say yes for sure.
I'm just waiting on my savepoint. The 512gb is too small so 2tb for me especially when I use the rog ally at work
Do they have UK version plug adapters too?
@skycloud4802 hey I preordered from the UK and can confirm yes there's UK adapters it was like 8.00 more
I want this but what is a pledge I’m new to kickstarter
A pledge is basically saying "I will definitely pay later", essentially earmarking the donation sheet for your name. The charge comes later.
I don't think Genki has had a failed campaign yet, but I don't know their whole history
Would it be possible to format a drive in the genki to exFat to swap it between a steam deck and ROG Ally?
exFat, probably yeah. I don't know if SteamOS requires a particular format for game storage, I don't have a Deck and the public image is still in the oven.
will the save point work with the dock?
C to A adapter or cable yeee
@efad3215 lol thanks! I guess I should say that it is working like a dream. I went ahead and bought it
@tomenza hahah, glad to hear that! Just found out the Savepoint existed today so off to UA-cam and I found ETA's video

I, the royal we. You know. The editorial?
The Saya Tab won't work with Android unfortunately!
Wrong the tracking card does not work with android.
