@ilovetech8341 the defendant has a choice "bench trial" or " jury trial". It's on the defendant to choose, not on the court. You have a right to a jury trial... They have a duty to tell you of that right and then you have a duty to exercise the right..... If someone is getting a summary judgment against them that's their own doing.
So nobody is allowed to change their mind on policy after seeing how no cash bail was just putting criminals back on the street?
Ana and cenk have come out within the last 2-3 years talking about how they’ve reversed their views on this particular issue.
Also, not all “progressives” are the same. Some can be progressive and not support no cash bail.

He is saying he supports the no bail policy but what he is against is the parameters and changes that have made it ineffective. I mean we just had a woman's stab a guy 108 times and her lawyer argued it was the WEED that made her do it and the judge accepted that verdict and gave her a few yrs probation and community service. This is not the democratic party of our grandparents. The only way to send a message to the party that “this” is not working is by having the democrats lose a couple of elections in the coming years so the party will realize: “Hey, this is not working for us”. 1. He has the same amount of control over his temper as a toddler. Anytime I've seen him in a debate he is so quick to anger. He talks to argue and not listen.

I also used to be a Democrat. It just takes realizing that you were wrong. That the world doesn’t work the way you thought it did, the problems aren’t what you thought they were, and the solutions aren’t what you imagined them to be, either. We all sort of discover this at different times and for different reasons. That’s all.

'Progressive' crime coddling has turned into a disaster in Sweden too. Swedes changed their minds too on (1) immigration and (2) crime. In Sweden, It is almost impossible to exaggerate how hysterical Swedish leftists got in demonizing even the tiniest complaint about wave after wave of mass immigration.
Now even the Social Democrats have done a 180 -at least rhetorically - on the issue of mass immigration and now admit that endess immigration is a disaster. Our last prime minister Stefan Löfven (Social Democrat) - a previous lifelong FANATIC proponent of mass immigration recently said, I quote:
"We were NAIVE. We will NEVER return to the days of mass immigration." In US terms, this would be like AOC apologizing and screaming to build the wall.
It wasn't just the prime minister. I am talking about a lineup of media and political elites doing various degrees of u-turns on this issue. Things that were absolutely taboo to even suggest 6 years ago are now acknowledged by many of the same architects of mass immigration. Eg it is now openly admitted even by the left that unvetted mass immigration has led to disastrous problems with gangs and criminality across the country. Eg Just 10 years ago, Sweden had the second lowest rate of gun homicide in Europe. Now, Sweden has the second HIGHEST. The UK's Guardian put it bluntly:

I attend a top 25 law school, and most of the women and LGBT people were strong advocates of prison abolition for everyone, even hosting week-long events and speeches. Extremely scary!!
