This one is interesting. You're either going to love it or think it's boring and repetitive. HOW YA FEELIN ON THIS ONE GUYS?
gameranx is this ting on xbox 1 or just ps
gameranx Sup
gameranx the combat looks unique but how's the story?
To late already bought it and it crashed during character creation lol....
What does RPG combat mean
i like how i check out "before you buy" videos after i bought.
Same while it’s downloading😂😂😂
Exactly
Jake's enthusiasm warms my heart and my days
Same😂😂😂😂

Should've also added that the devs plan on releasing regular, free content patches.
Oh, and the game was made by SIX PEOPLE.
SIX!? HOLY CRAP THOSE GUYS MUST BE GOOD FREAKIN PROGRAMMERS
@@sruleman85 ikr 2 bad they dont have a budget because of the lack of copies sold and lack of player online... they stated on Twitter they would hault all updates until they can get there hands on some sort of budget...
Ikr i just wish the game was longer
@@kingbasil8479 the game was so fun. And the concept is amazing, wish it was more fleshed out. We should start a fundraiser for absolver
@@Johnny.Picklez the game was nice but i got stuck somewhere I didnt know where to go

"while dudes just pound on ya"
Sounds like my kind of game.
That kind of reminds me of a fan comic from Overwatch with Tracer called "I'm You But Stronger".
Larry Larrys oh you
In a corner
Larry Larrys as a wise old man once said, "what kind of guy are you.... 😟"
:3
Don't know why everyone is complaining about the sounds. To me they have such impact and they're so satisfying. It's because of the sounds that I feel each hit feels like it carries so much weight
I said the same when I saw gameplay first, oh boy I was wrong when I started playing.
yThos I refunded only because the flabby meat slap sound was boring m
its the music that's more of a problem the game is extremely quiet
flamethekid PvP has music, there is also a light background music in open world mode
I bought it and surprise.. The sound is as satisfying.
And I'm so tired of the bullshit these days that every game needs to look, sound and play as realistically as possible... Look at Absolver and tell me how much of it is realistic? Not very much right? Well then why should it have realistic sound? Games like Tekken and Mortal Kombat have even less realistic sounds and no one goes on about those sounds needing to sound realistic
I think you did not understand the game correctly. This game is PVP mainly. The PVE part is just a tutorial (like for honor campaign). Why do I think so? Well, the game campaign is too short to make the game a pve experience, and this kind of fighting games take 4-5 hours to get used to it entirely (depending on the player, obviously), which is the campaign time. The areas are not really filled with secrets, there are just a few items in some places, but it is not the usual. These areas are also pretty straight forward, there's some exploration but you'll basically go forward and defeat enemies. The world, in fact, is not meant to be a openworld-like place, as the sloclap team said: "The world of Adal is relatively modest and can be traversed from end to end in half an hour or so provided all areas have been unlocked. The goal was not to have a large open world but instead a realm where players could explore and encounter both NPC combatants and other live players to interact with, whether that be fighting, sparring, or simply politely bowing and going their separate way."
Once you get used to the game after you've beaten it, you move on the pvp (duels, 3v3, etc), where the real thing begins. The main part of the game is pvp. This game has a deep combat system with a lot of combination of moves, which makes the game interesting. This combat system will make you try different moves and different decks for the shake of fun, and you'll progress as a fighter while you learn from other players. And you might be wondering: what about grinding? Well, the best items you can get are from pvp. Everytime you finish a duel or 3v3 or whatever, there will be a big chance you'll a get a piece of equipment, and it is in pvp where you get the best equipment.
Basically, this game is just a pvp game, with a beatiful and brief campaign where you develop as a fighter (becoming an Absolver) before you move on to pvp. In fact, the sloclap team do not classify this game as an RPG: "It is important to note that Absolver is not an online RPG or an MMO, the scale is relatively small compared to well known games in those genres and the online interactions are much more focused and personal without the large scale server populations one might expect from an MMO." This game is an online fighting game with a deep combat system, and it is worth the price.
I agree
Ain't nobody got time to read that
It's not that long.
jesus christ bro, it's fucking long.
xD
What the game lacks is a goal, just grinding or making your character stronger is not really enough.
Think Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat and not Dark Souls
@@nairemuh LIU KANG: what?
@@deivymaybe7554 Fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken, and Mortal Kombat don't really have a good except getting better at beating your opponent.

Only assholes pre-order.
Sunny Jim Only stupid trollers can be that obvious.
When you can easily refund on steam, it's 10% off and you get free shit, why wouldn't you preorder?
Cunty McFuckFace I thought the exact thing and preordered it 5hrs before its launch lol
Completely obsessed with this game. The way combat flows and moves, plus the loot collecting!
There's literally 3 hit sounds. I'd lose my mind after an hour.
Put put put put.
Good god.
Just listen to music while playing lol
sure but more powerful attacks have pre-attack sounds to listen for
I actually beat the game, (got absolver rank) and after a while, you dont really notice it.

I'm expecting a dark souls comparison
Demonaz just harder with mainly fists
Demonaz I was just about to comment that 😂
Said it once: "I can't help but compare it to dark souls, but in a good way". That was it, never was it mentioned again.
PS: I'm sorry if that sounded like an insult or an attack, I swear it wasn't.
TheStealthMasterZ doubt its harder
Demonaz obviously *rolls eyes*
Holy shit, the combat deck editor!
That's straight out of God Hand!
i love those sound effects on hit.
feels like i'm watching a real fistfight.
3:52 nice cut
honestly i am extremely impressed by this game, i pre ordered it because im a huge dark souls fan and the combat seemed really nice, after about an hour of playing, i was in LOVE. this is a truly great game
Does it get boring fast? Doesn’t seem like a lot of content...
J Leazy
It's fun as Hell
How about now
J Leazy The game is based around PVP. Depends if you are the type to invest a little bit of time as the game is easy to get the hang of but hard to master.
this game looks fun as hell i love the graphics
Kameron Rabidou its quite fun I'd recommend
MrDjBigZ cause you fins it borimg you doesnt mean that ppl cant enjoy it its a pretty good game with a beautiful world and simplistic but at the same time unique graphics
Kameron Rabidou It is! It's really fun man.
MrDjBigZ its actually quite good but the storyline and map are small and not worth 30$. Overall though I would recommend
This looks great for the dark souls/for honor pvp community.
Racially Insensitive Popo Exactly! That's the audience. It's awesome.
Here's a question, once you've beaten these bosses and such, can you fight them again at any time to further test your skills as you progress? So do bosses respawn basically?
PS: Your thoughts and concerns about the game are the exact ones I have. Looks great, gameplay seems very fun, but the lasting power...Once you've played the game for a few weeks is that it? or will it be like a wrestling game or a sports game, where' you're essentially always doing the same thing, yet you're having a blast doing it.
It's 40$ Canadian on the PS4, and it might sound harsh but I feel once it's on sale for 20-30$ I'll probably without thinking buy this game. Rant over.
Please more people buy this game please come back we need you were dying off and it's so bare and lonely
Downloading right now bruh
Downloading rn too, 8 bucks? SHeesh
Yasss, looks like for honour + dark souls , couldn't be a more perfect game for me.
wait
Is the game really titled "For Honour" in Europe?
Get ready to beat up people with 0.5 Mbps Connection.......😒
Dj Singh yep...sounds like me
*offline mode exists*
little bro offline mode sucks
There is region locking which doesn't allow people with high ping to be matched with you.
yThos And people say that's a bad thing.
I've pre-ordered this and be playing all morning and all day basically and I just love it it's like a dark souls for Honor type of thing I just wish it had a little bit more to it cuz I get deeply emerged in it to only find out that I'm almost halfway done maybe if they add to it this could be a great game with longevity but they have to stay on it and come up with fresh things to keep eyes on it in to bring a new eyes
prediction: you are bored as fuck with it now
Learn to punctuate.
Who’s here from PS Plus announcements?
Barnacle Boiii ✋
I am but mostly to see what it has to offer. Sadly it's not my kind of game. Hope everyone else who downloads gets to enjoy it.
Hoeru thanks

Im downloading it now 👍
When I’m still playing the game 2 years later
I already beat the campaign, its short but the bosses are fun to fight. The game is alot better playing with friends :)
You block the sword with your arms? And I don't understand why the characters in-game turn back to the ennemy all the time.
XxKidnoffxX it's a form! In martial arts, it's a very complex defensive form! And the swords do damage, even while they block, so you have to dodge or attack and disarm!!
I thought the game was a long tutorial. When I beat the last boss on the tower I expected the world to open up. Being an Absolver, rising in ranks and beating waaay more bosses along the way. But no, it just ended right there. Felt no urge to continue what so ever. But it was a great tutorial/game.
Jonathan Lundqvist If the game costed 4 times more (like a normal AAA game) then this would be the case. But its a cheap game, so it wont be big
Fossegrim it's $30, 30*4=120. Who have you been buying AAA games from?
Yes of course. I only meant that I liked the game so much and got so immersed in it that when it ended I got a bit disappointed. So i was thinking like "Yeah, it's an indiegame, of course there wont be any more than this. Such a shame that sloclap isn't a bigger studio". Glad I bought and supported the team that made it though.
Jonathan Lundqvist did you try multiplayer?
Emperor Of Nothing I think people think this is a MMO or something. Been playing FFXIV for 4 years now, so to my follow mmo people, This is a fighting game.
It has been released on Xbox One game pass, haven't tried it yet, but looking forward to it.
Did u download? Do u like it?
Damn the jump in quality between this and Sifu is pretty huge. Not saying this looks bad but Sifu is next level in presentation and animations.
kind of looks like jade empire
Hud dy i think that was the main inspiration
With less content, no story, and even less replay value
Duran Sok not if you like grinding and fighting games.
So who's here after beating sifu?
Ok I’m here after getting insanely hyped for Sifu & learning the same ppl behind that game made this one, is it still worth getting? Do ppl still play? Thank you in advance. :)
People still play, I don't know if you heard but there was a tourney a few weeks ago I think called The Last Shard, but from what I've heard the players who organized it said it would more than likely be the last tournament
@@winterprison833 oh I had no idea about that but tysm for the response! 👊🏼
Man, that ending fight scene. THAT HEAD CRUNCH THOUGH!
As a souls fan and a fighting game fan I am having a great time playing. There are reads, baits, footsies. You can condition your opponents and heavily punish them. 1v1s feel so good to me. I did get annoyed while playing the PvE due to some npc shenanigans. The only issue I had was that servers were down most of the day, so I beat the game offline. The learning curve is fairly steep to me, but that's what makes it fun.
How can people call this game souls-like... The only thing there's in common is that you fight against enemies.
The environments are a bit reminiscent of Dark Souls, so is the fighting uh, "cadence" I guess? The fighting speed is almost identical to what I experienced, and it shares the Stamina Bar mechanism because, of course it does. The starkness of the graphical quality though is what bring me a real sense of the familiar when comparing it to Dark Souls. There's also the online "component" that is equally disappointing in both games.
the online part of the game is surprisingly fun for me personally, id say much more than souls
Natsu FBreather mainly because you cant just rush a fight, or smash in buttons like mortal kombat, but unlike this game and souls and for honor you gotta take some space from the opponent and think a nice way to beat it
The game resembles For Honor a lot more
Just started playing this game yesterday, within the first fifteen minutes I thought "this is like Dark Souls."
Is this online/multiplayer
I love absolver even in 2021
Same though I haven’t played in a while
@gameranx One thing you mentioned that is wrong, is the light and heavy attacks. You can set your two attack buttons with ANY ATTACK you want. So instead of light and heavy, it's actually called "main attack and alternative attack" X being your main hit, and Y being yer switch up from your main combo in your combat deck
This game makes me think of Journey more than anything. The masks, the ambient music, players dropping in and out of your game world. I quite like this game a lot.

James Exactly!
That's how I see it
James mate you are cool
to be fair... they didn't really expect it to get the reception it did.
This game was great I got is for the free psplus but I finished the story in only a few hours I just wish there was more
1. I played solo the entire time do to servers being down. Anybody that played for honor will do fine. It was very challenging at first and I died a lot, but then I stopped dying and I solod the entire game.. it's very doable. Now my guy is mastering the art of drunken fist and I just don't die anymore.
2. Pointing your left stick at the enemy will make your character target the enemy until you release the left stick. You don't have to R1 right stick to switch targets middle of combat. Only when you want to lock on. I can easily engage three to four enemies at once solo. And we drunken fist, it looks like a cinematic fight scene. So so cool
3. If I had to make a complaint and, I would say there's not enough styles. The first time I fought drunken fist it caught me off-guard and I enjoyed it a lot. But after that it seems like there's no more styles
Other than that good video.
I am enjoying the crap outta it. It really pays off to beat up NPCs 'til they're almost dead and learn their moves. Not only are you learning in game but you also learn how NPCs fight basically.
Although the internet lag has been REALLY bad for me, pretty sure its just an aussie thing, this game really thrives on no lag and intricate, precise movement so lag really stuffs me up so I've chilled out in offline mode 'til the devs fix it.
"How do you feel?" Why does everything need to be PvP?
because it's fun as fuck?
I’d rather fight against a real person than a dumb AI tbh
Anyone here because this game is coming to ps4 free next month?
justin Gaming me
Yes
Me
Ive gotten a big advantage on it, there are thousands of players entering the game, & when i get challenged they are like level 20 & im level 132, i noticed you all like to use that gay drunk class.
7Even 11Even mostly because it's the earliest method you can get and it comes with it's own deck ready for usage.
I like how warframe, a game with amazing graphics and complex systems can run on my toaster at 70fps but this low poly stylized game runs at 10fps.
agreed on all points, I think the game would have benefited by having a more directed story line to add more meaning to the grinding. Quests?
I wish there was a bit more aesthetic customization(shaders mainly). The button commands need tweaking. You use R2(or RT for xbox?) to choose from which angle you'll initiate your combo. Depending on the angle determines the string you'll execute. The only problem is, R1 is the ability button; the parry, absorb, or dodge so, if I'm in a 1 v however many(which happens ALOT), it's hard for me navigate between the three(the third being the block button over as L2). It's fun, though and addicting. Especially the creating your own combo strings. Forces you to get creative. Make a combo where the last attacks ends on another angle so it initiates a completely different string of combinations. It's also cool to see people combine styles.
The no map KILLS ME. I mean, I get it; forces you to explore but, GAWD, the map is bigger than it seems and it's a labyrinth.
I'll stick with it. Probably won't take For Honour's place. Hopefully there's a few updates in the future.
This game isn't that hard (at least with my op combat deck) I beat the first 6 marked men and I'm currently in the quarry section and I've haven't had difficultly except for when a A.I for honors me (pushes me off a cliff for Instakill)
I think you mean "No Honors!"
Before you buy.
Remember that Bugisoft is begging you to come back to For Honor.
Dat game long ded long ded
The game is not dead. It is very much alive.
@@zealousideal_trick2250 its dead as fuck compared to its original playerbase
@@dakarai47 for honor is very much alive.
@@dualmaster2222 not at all shits ultra dead compared to its peak numbers it had. Game lost 78.6 percent of its playerbase
they NEED to add spears and/or bo staffs
Then the game would just become For Honor.
Too much range, that's why they didn't add it
3:29 Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the more players are in an area, the bigger enemy groups are, so it would turn an 1v2 into a 2v4 if you're exploring with someone, but if 4 enemies spawn and the other players aren't fighting them, then you're stuck in an 1v4
The learning curve in this game is immense. I can’t seem to get the stance switch right. I feel bad for button mashing my way through some thingsx
Anyone here after the Sifu video??
me me!
I hated that the story was so short. That’s what I downloaded it for. 😔
you forgot to mention that it's region locked so you can't play with friends overseas
The f? Really?
MrFancyPanz then FUCK this game, thanks for the heads up.
Nevermind... instant nope.
I mean duh do you see the world and combat? Of course it isn't going to have all that the pvp has to run smoothly
Don't know what you're talking about my friends in Germany and I'm in the states and we still play every day
I feel like most people are going to knock it due to it being an arcade and slightly cheaper but I honestly feel like I'm going to enjoy it. Just bought it hope the community is decent in size thanks
You got some of it right. It's a fighting game with an open-world as a big ass training stage. In other words, that first five hours of pve is there to teach you how to not embarrassingly lose in PVP/combat trials. Played every day since launch, never stops being fun.
So, who is here to know if you download it or not because is free?

I wish there was battle music
There is under boss fights, but you can just slap on some music from youtube, and to be honest, when I started playing I didnt really miss music, I was more concentrated on surviving and defeating my enemies, which can be really intense and difficult at times.
I remember learning about this game a long while ago and I was super excited when it finally came out! in fact I bought it immediately, have only played a couple hours so far and I like the game a whole lot.
Played it for 12+ hours on PS4. I like it. The final boss fight was memorable, tense, and fun. I'm about go back and do the trials. True about the camera angles and NPC ganking but building your fight deck and getting the combat to flow is satisfying. I kept losing connection to the server and when I was connected people coming in and out of my area seemed to fxxx things up. I had an invisible NPC smack me around and an error making the game crash but despite that I'm quite happy with the money I spent on preorder and look forward to additional content.
so is anyone here cuz this one of the ps plus July games?
seems a bit clunky with the movement
johnyblaze11 it's very fluid and comfortable!
i call bullshit...NOTHING about this looks fluid and comfortable.
Claymore77 ok lol don't play then! That simple! I love it!
I'm playing it and the switching stances is not comfortable or fluid
You had this game for probably 2 days bro?
Bought it played for an hour or so meet up with other players they lagged all over the place could not even hit them and i have really good Internet. Meet up with more people same result refunded it
Sorry to hear that. I played for an entire day straight becaues it was so fun.
I just got it and i have like 3mbps download and it was fine for me. Could’ve just been a launch problem
I went into this video thinking "I'm not too into this game but let's see what Gameranx says" and afterwards I'm thinking "Shit this game looks cool". You guys are magicians! Huge fan of your work and always look forward to your uploads!
Everything's customizable. Controls are fluid. Visuals are stunning. Gameplay is repetitive, but difficult enough to ensure it never gets old or grows stale. Online sucks, contectivity wise, but the game literally JUST came out. For new buyers, I suggest playing offline for a while and grinding up until the hype dies down and a patch comes out. This game is absolutely worth every penny.
disagreed with everything you said here, most counter intuitive "combo" system I've ever seen.. and this is coming from a guy who has been playing fighting games for 20 years.. this game managed to piss me the fuck off and that's something that rarely happens. Falling into the water a million times because of the bullshit lock on system.. why is there fucking water that instakills you in a MARTIAL ARTS GAME?
I guess absolvers were never taught how to swim
or float
Looks really repetitive
CenturianDoctor nice concept...but those hit sounds are bland as hell...sounds like someone getting hit with a cardboard box
CenturianDoctor Ive been playing for around 6 hours and still enjoying it
Denver January everyone has been complaing about the sound design and music, so I am almost certain they'll e changing all this
Denver January that's the first thing I noticed. Terrible sound
looks really repetitive
*every pvp focused game*
This game kinda looks like it'll be frustrating as hell while you're a noob and boring as shit when you're a "badass."
for honor, but with fist
I played this for like five minutes at friends house the other night and was immediately hooked and bought it for my PS4. The combat looks elegant but feels powerful, the world looks simple but in a very nice and peaceful way, and the customization of your appearance and fighting style is full of flavor and depth respectively. Short but satisfying length wise and if you want a Dark Souls feeling fighting game this is a perfect fit. Highly recommended in my opinion!
Game is for hardcore players for that heavy competitive PvP which is the ideal dev vision late game. The "campaign" is more like a turf war between martial art styles with some loot and some sexy outfits/masks. Idk if there is an actual system where it shows how many players are apart of what "school" but hey I just downloaded and only have 1 hour under my belt. Can't wait for servers to be up thooo hype
I want to play it, but i dont want to play full price to test a game.... no man's sky did that to me

As someone who plays way to much souls, this game was a fun different twist on the over the shoulder fighting game
It could use some quests to fill that void. Just some stuff like "rescue this person from this group." or "Find me this item located wherever" and the place is guarded by people to fight. Things like that.
Or maybe even another big quest where you might want to team up with some people along the way to help you get to and defeat some big baddie.
There are ways to fill that empty space end-game that many seem to feel deserves more filling.
i was about to buy this game and this video pops up
will post update
Edit 1: half video in, considering buying it, will buy if some of my friend buy it aswell
Edit 2: want to buy it but don't have any friends (rip) if anyone is interested in european server hit me up lads
You encounter random players while playing the game normally, you can even start cooperating with them and become friends, it's pretty fun alone too. Anyway my name is yThos7 in the game (yThos in steam) tell me if you still need someone to play with.
sorry for the late answer, i'd love to play with someone

Just picked it up on sale for 20 bucks, finished in about 5-6 hours without a guide for the first 4 lol, and while the navigation system is horrible, I'm definitely going to keep coming back to this game.
Yeah Jake, you said in the end that something seems missing. Maybe it's because we're so used to having stories in a game. The same way with Sports Champions.

I can see this getting old fast.
it hasn’t really grown nor shrunk in popularity. i try to play the game every day possible just cuz it calms me down, sometimes for hours at a time, the game is much more suited for those who enjoy the peacefulness and plain fun the game brings rather than the goal you’d strive to get
Robin Bruce yeah right. It’s hectic as hell. And everyone just jumps each other. Nobody has any honor in that game sadly.
Who’s here because of July’s PS Plus?
When you're surrounded by enemies you can use the L.Stick and direct your blows in the directions you are tilting it in.
also when building a deck.
Don't just pick flashy moves. if you don't like blocking to learn moves or you're terrible with your Style Abilities. pick moves that can avoid hits and try them out.
so are you still playing? how much has changed?
New class and moves and power ups were added and "dungeons" game is pretty much dead now tho

To be honest Absolver's a nice break from the increasing number of hyperrealistic games. Plus it's a bold move by the studio behind it, it's worth giving it a shot in my opinion
