On my eq800 that pinpoint button helps me determine if it’s a can or a coin or something similar by how long the tone is and that helps me determine if it’s worth digging exspecially in high trash areas that way I’m not wasting time digging bad targets and spending more time on good ones

About 7 years ago I brought a no name cheap $70 metal detector from a pawn shop my first week with it I had two amazing finds 1st was a gold ring found by a basketball court about 4" down. And my 2nd best find was in a sports field which was a gold tooth. I got $400 for the ring and $70 for the tooth. It was crazy at the shop that brought the tooth he smashed it with a hammer to get the tooth out of the gold. Pretty neat. Anyways good luck hunting with no matter wat type you have you can find amazing stuff!

Great story! My dad and I started out with a Teroso Toletc 80, and 100 then a Toltec II. Still using them today. Have hunted many old wild west sites in Oklahoma and some in Arkansas, the old saloon town sites. Researching during the winter then hunt the other 3 seasons. You'll be surprised what you can find in small towns at old home sites. I had cards made up with "well heads located and property pins". That helped with real estate and property owners giving us a call to locate an old well they had forgotten the location which lead to finding other things looking for well head. Lot of good memories and great times and many doors opened, happy hunting and shooting your end. That's a great first story!

Encouraging video for beginners for sure. What you're saying about the pull tab signals is exactly right. Dig tones Not numbers. Everyone needs a test garden to see why those numbers don't mean crap. I know that your just showing folks real time demo but unless your just looking for surface finds I think your swing is way to fast regardless of recovery speed. The Nox is able to do it for sure but I'd love to see you slow that swing down set your self up in Field 2 zero disc, 5 tone Ferrous 2, depending on soil. That program will sniff out DEEP silver, even on edge. Excellent video dude. I did sub and I been detecting over 30 years now!

My first detector was an ACE 250. Bought a Compadre 8 inch coil and I can pinpoint much better than I ever could with the ACE. The Compadres are great machines and it's the only one I own. Thanks for the great vids!

I agree in a lot of things that you were saying. But with pinpointing l sweep the coil backwards ..Side to side .At the tip of the coil will be the target . Of course it works best with a smaller coil

I’m confused by my metal detector. It was supposed to be a pretty good one but it’s randomly going off and doesn’t say how far down, so I ended up digging and filling holes randomly for a couple hours to have found nothing- except some screws and metal wires, but often times just nothing and I don’t want to just keep making the hole bigger and sifting through every bunch of dirt every time, especially when i did and didn’t find anything. Maybe my detector is just not as good as advertised or it’s screwed up? Any tips are appreciated.

Could be interference, minerals in soil, deep iron pipes, the detector, the coil, improper settings, etc etc etc. Go to a place away from homes and power lines and see if it keeps acting up.

I have a buddy who uses a Tesoro Lobo and he kills it with that thing. He gets rings all of the time. It really is not about how expensive, old, new, carbon fiber or what color it is. It is all about if you become one with that detector.

The way you describe the ground conditions at your dig locations really enhances the viewer's appreciation of terrain variation, and the extra effort needed to unearth buried targets. Mastery of a discipline, for me, is defined by knowledge garnered by great continuity of very regular applications in time, and not simply by 'travelling' an extended time span 'in ownership of', per se..... Just my op, yet If it were not so, you would probably be over 200 years of age, if such was possible!!! I mean my 'take' as an acknowledgement of your expertise, without any bull-shit whatsoever. What frequency do you recommend for finding gold rings with the HF COIL on the DEUS jeremy.

I have found the most gold rings at 31khz. Any frequency will hit on gold rings. The small gold clasps and small pendants will hit much harder in higher frequencies.

I use an AT Pro and a Equinox 800 and they aren't supposed to be swung like you're on crack. Even on the Equinox that has an adjustable recovery speed if it's too high you will miss targets. Look at everywhere detecting channel 99% of them swing and a slow to moderate swing rate...and they find targets!

The thing that gets me is some seem to think it is a race and swing their detector so fast I have no clue how the machine they are using even has a chance to process the signals under their coil.
Slow down lol.
If ya don't want to feel free to hit me up so I can't hunt the areas you did after you leave.
Oh, and I always take the time people claim they have been detecting with a grain of salt.
Unless you detect everyday, 24hrs a day, you don't have the time in cuttin plugs ya think ya have.
Maybe calendar years but not true detecting time.
When people ask me how long I have been detecting I simply tell them the year I got into the hobby.
They can make their own assessment from there.

Why do you sweep so fast? Give your machine time to find the stuff. That's why you can never find it all, you miss too much. Go slow, relax and have fun. This is not a competition.

You have a V3i and an etrac and you prefer a Simplex+. After some hours on Simplex+ 2.78 I don't see how you or anyone would use it
Hard to find virtue in this machine. I would

25 Years of experience and still can't dig a plug. Come on man! Please if anyone is reading this, do not cut all 4 sides of your plug. Cut 3 sides and flip the plug over. Don't break the grass connection. You will end up leaving brown spots everywhere.
I really hope you have fixed your style since this video. Don't get me wrong the video is great but that digging style hurts.

No brown plugs here man!! The plug will go brown if it is popped just before the dormant stage in early summer....but the grass goes brown(dormant) anyways. I do not even dig in the grass in the summer dormant brown grass because I would break my hand tool or break my foot on my shovel because the clay here hardens like concrete in the summer. I can dig hundreds of plugs in a small area of the park in the winter and not a single brown plug anywhere...I have hundreds of live dig videos day after day in the same spots digging round plugs...watch my videos and you will learn!!!!!

I notice that you cut a lot of circle plugs , when you do that you kill the grass. The parks board will stop everyone from metal detecting in parks some day because of people like you who do not know how to dig a plug. You might even get a fine the way you are digging your plugs. Check out some of the youtube channels on how to dig plugs & how to use a probe & screwdriver to dig shallow coins out of the grass, you don t need to dig circle plugs for shallow targets. I hate to see our hobby get shut down for good, in all the city parks because of guys like you that dig the grass up the wrong way.

You shouldn't be digging in a park with a big shovel either. You want to be innocuous. City parks, town parks, you definitely need to use a probe and screw driver or a lesche digger. Save the big shovel for farm fields and woods.

We all started out with the same struggles you are facing. It takes time to start finding treasure. If you know or can befriend someone with experience with metal detecting in your area...they can walk you through it. You can search for metal detecting clubs near you or go to your local metal detector dealer to ask questions.
