Woodturning - The Iron Bound Oak Bowl

This brown oak bowl gets bound with an iron ring! The oak is rough turned wet, then dried in the microwave in preparation for the ring. I put the ring in the forge in order to get a consistent fire scale finish all the way around, including the weld. I have tried hot fitting a ring in the past and the results were disastrous.

Nice work, neat design. Have you tried walnut oil, it dries hard where mineral oil never does. Just a thought. Cheers John
