Having survived two heart attacks myself, I can relate to what Kurt was feeling on the beach. You just feel sick, deep inside, your head hurts, your arms hurt, your collar bones REALLY hurt and your fingers tingle. Then the slamming pain down your left arm. All you want to do at this point is close your eyes and surrender. It was a lucky break that Kurt was able to describe his trouble. Much respect to the Bondi lifeguards for knowing to prepare for what was almost inevitable given Kurt's symptoms.
Wow Peter, mate! Thank you for sharing your experience, sounds terrifying. To be able to say you've survived two heart attacks makes you a very strong and lucky person.
What an amazing story. I’m a cardiac nurse and watched this unfold on pins and needles. Everyone involved did a terrific job. Defibrillators absolutely save lives. Kurt is lucky that he had a defib on standby and a group of people who know how to perform adequate CPR. Kurt definitely has angels watching over him. Great job everyone!
"Angels watching over him" What a beautiful sentiment. As a cardiac nurse, we're sure you've seen severe situations like these a lot. We hope you see many happy endings like Kurts.

A huge thank you to all first responders who were there and saved this gentleman. I arrested almost 2 years ago while home alone. I was found shortly after it happened by building maintenance coming to check on a water leak that I wasn't aware of. I ended up on life support for 3 days in a medical coma. I managed to locate the firefighters who were the first to attend and treated the firehall to pizza that night.
