They never mentioned what the cause was but it reminded me of an identical excruciating pain I had in that area. It took a lot of morphine to bring it down. Turned out to be a kidney stone.

Im sorry this happened to the families and im really thankful to those lifeguards who risk there life to safe others so thank you you really are heroes
I am so so so sorry for the different families when someone dies. It’s already hard enough for someone in your family to die, and right in front of you!? Even worse for you and everyone, it adds guilt to everyone. My aunt was a life guard and someone died and she had has guilt forever.
7:25 Something similar happened to me. At my first ever trainee shift as a paramedic, we were called to a 28 year old hanging, his wife found him. The first thing they told me is to stay in the ambulance. I don't need to see this.
I just started watching last night. I might not be in Australia, but I want to say thank you for all you do. The beach I went to growing up didn’t have lifeguards. I don’t know what outside force scares me. I’ve been in hurricanes and blizzards. Wildfires are terrifying. I have a healthy respect for Mother Nature. I think people are the scariest.
I have to say that stomach pains are so painful! I don't have a blockage, but something is going on in my body that is doing this extreme stomach cramp and lower body cramp thing and believe me the pain is THAT bad! I feel so much for that little boy every time I see this! He will always remember that pain for the rest of his life. For me it is worse that labor and delivering my kids because I could at least scream.... Sometimes my pains are so bad I can't even shout out for help... I go to see a GI specialist in Feb and it can't come soon enough...
I feel like those trainees who are glad to have been left behind on the most serious of tasks, will make the best lifeguards in the future, because they already seem to know the seriousness and how big of an issue this is. the ones wanting to go and being bummed about not going can't grasp the look of a dead body with no emotion, and seem to not realise that it's for the grater good and that they actually can save a life. i remember seeing my first dead body. i thought i was a grown, strong man, but at that moment you have no idea what to feel and freeze up. which can be a crutial mistake in a mission of this grade.
That sweet boy.. He's definitely acting like it's his appendix. Mine ruptured at 19 years old. By some miracle, my body walled off the perotinitis (infection), but then THAT burst. My parents were told to start making funeral arrangements. A priest came to read my last rites. They loaded me up with 9 doses of intravenous antibiotics a day. Miraculously, I survived. I spent 8 or 9 days in ICU when they released me. Surgery was scheduled, but it was weeks out because they wanted the infection cleared up first. On my 2nd or 3rd day home, it came back full force. This time, I was rushed into emergency surgery.
1:00 Oh, I feel for the kid. I've had my intestines cramp and block. The pain is 2nd to my pneumothorax. Didn’t relies they were going to give him the green whistle, all the hospital gave me was panadol.
You guys are such lifesavers im a huge fan and I love what you do! You guys inspired me to try to be a life guard myslef and save people like you do! ❤
I never had a relaxing time at the beach when I took the kids, I watch them like a hawk! My local beach wasn't manned, happy to report I never lost one. Taught them to body surf, float to survive and how You know where a rip is.
Fly high Terry May your soul rest eternal❤❤❤. My grandma lost her 2 brothers from drowning in the riffs of Trinidad. And to this day my grandma doesn’t let anyone go near the water at any beach 😢
@2:00 the young boys symptoms sounds like diverticulitis (a digestive disease caused by an inflammation of an herniating pouch, within the wall of the intestine, most often the colon. extremely painful!! It develops in the wall of the large intestine. Bless his heart 🙏🏼
@ Actually, diverticulitis, is exactly an “intestinal blockage”. My sister had emergency surgery for the same & over 5 feet of intestines had to be removed. We almost lost her🙏🏼 So, no, I don’t feel “stupid”, I know exactly what I’m talking about.
I have major problems with my ears, if I put my head under water. My swimming teacher in high school to wear a bathing cap,or swimming cap. I had no problems with my ears as soon as I started wearing it. I hope you have a great day my friends, and stay safe ❤️🙂⚘️.
Also another fear is mine is water, especially putting my head underwater because I’ve had so many ear infections in my life. I am 12 years old here soon I’m getting my eighth set of tubes placed in my ears i’ve had an ear infection since summer. I am in sixth grade, and it is really hard. Hopefully this will be my last set of tubes. They will be permanent this time. I’ve had so many surgeries in my life so to me it’s really scared to think about that, I’m going through my eighth set of tubes.
I had the same thing the little boy got. Constipation pain is one of the most painful thing to endure. Had to do an at home enema after three days of excruciating pain.
A always wonder why people go swimming in all their clothes? It makes it so much harder to stay afloat. Wear swimwear when swimming. Underwear is not swimwear, neither is regular clothes. Dress for what you are doing.
@ (I’m not being mean or trolling I just have a question because I haven’t watched the clip in a while) But is it religious wear? There are heaps of modesty swim garments. It’s usually not the situation. It seems more to be a case of “wanna go in water. Have no swimwear. Go anyways. = greater risk of not staying a float.” If you are at the beach, bring appropriate swim wear or don’t go in the water - stay on the shore.
I had gallstones at 17 and I remember literally pulling my hair out, breaking my nails and screaming from the pain. That boy saying "make it go away" reminded me of that kind of pain and saying that myself. I never thought about how it affected my parents seeing that. Crap that was intense. Can't stop crying from that boy. What happened? is he okay?
Kerrbox saying he must have been in the water for a long time, because rigor mortis had set in, wasn't entirely correct. Rigor mortis sets in after a couple of hours after death, and can last up to 24 hours. Then the body becomes flaccid. I would like to know how long Kerrbox meant.
He probably meant a long time compared to how long a period before resumption of life is no longer possible via any method. Or he could have meant that rigor mortis is a condition that takes a long time to set in compared to the other conditions they encounter in victims.
I hate how when something really bad happens people are just watching when it’s like that person’s worst day of their life probably like if I was in that situation I would definitely not want people staring and watching.
A lot of it is morbid curiosity, but I try to tell myself that a lot of them are watching because they’re hoping to see a recovery, hoping to see someone come back and rooting for the CPR etc to pay off
