I think this video is the best video on UA-cam , straight to the point and no wiffle waffle with “oh you could do this but if you do this you can possibly do this but don’t do this” or having to pause and repeat the same section of the video to understand what’s going on. I watched this video once and was able to fix my tap, I’ve come back to subscribe and leave this comment. I’m about to watch how to install the retractable garden hose and I’m kinda wishing I watched it before doing it on my own lol
Brilliant.Clear, simple, precise instructions. Not the usual shite we get from people who love the sound of their own voice and spout a lot of irrelevant details before embarking on incomprehensible instructions about the job in hand. Thank you for this video. I followed what you said and the job was complete in about 10 mins.😎
Just watched your video and changed my tap washer. Took less than 20 seconds to from start to finish. For some reason, it's just something I'd never done before Thanks man
Cheers Daniel, I'm glad it helped out mate, speaking of Dad's passing knowledge on... I get my daughters to review every DIY video I make before uploading - I'm sure they are learning stuff that may help in the future.. well done mate, all the best. Kent
Thank you so much. So easy to follow. My tap was leaking and I didn’t want to have to call a plumber for such a small job, plus I can’t really afford it right now. I watched your video, bought a new wrench and the Fix a Tap pack from Bunnings and my tap is now fixed and I’m feeling like I will actually be able to do more things around the house. I paid a small fortune to have a plumber install a new kitchen tap not that long ago but I watched your video on that too and I will be doing that myself next time. I really appreciate the straightforward videos that cover everything in such a short time 😊
Absolute legend, thank you so much for this. I had our tap fixed within an hour, including a quick nip down to Bunnings to get a new washer. Instructions were super clear. Saved us a mountain of hassle!
Legend! Literally put up a hose reel today, got annoyed at the leaky tap (only when running, but still...), found this video and 30 mins later it's all sorted. Cheers!
Thanks mate. Just fixed the outside tap which leaked out of the handle. Thanks again. Simple, clear instructions and no 2 minute BS introduction. Awesome!!!
Thanks mate, new skill learnt in under 3 minutes. Saved a call out fee, dealing with the landlord and waiting on hubby to finally fix our leaking tap. Got it done and changed for a few bucks and problems solved.
Perfect, thank you. Clear and concise. Liked the extra tip about using the plumbers tape, I’ve spent ages trying to find the right size fibre washer before.
Thank you very much. My handle was leaking and I thought I needed a new tap. Your video was perfect. Easy to follow and I learnt a lot. And saved me money 👍
Recommendations if it’s just too tight and you cant unscrew it? Ive done one tap fine but snotger i have just wont hudge and all managed to do is ruin the spindle now that wrench wont grasp it properly. Wd40. Two wrenches and was trying to be careful. Thoughts? Very annoying to be turning your water off multiple times a day
Hey Naumanrahim, yes it’s most likely the O’rings, it can also be a build up of hard deposits like calcium causing it to be stiff, pull it apart, clean & lubricate, replace o’rings and valve(tapwasher), and it should be good as new! Best of luck 👍Kent
My tap is leaking from where the tap attaches to the pipe (the surface of the copper pipe is wet).. The tap was never secured to the wall. Will I need a plamber to rebraise it?
Sorry SirGalah - I never got notified of your Q! 🤷♂️ If it’s a compression or braised joint then yes, if it’s threaded then try your hand at replacing the plumbers tape🤙 all the best mate, Kent
Hey Naumanrahim, sorry for the late reply, did you solve the problem? you could always try soaking the ceased part in a Penetrant like Permatex - amzn.to/3EjZeG9 this is the one I use. Regards, Kent
NEVER use Teflon tape on a tap body especially over first couple of threads, as it tends to tear while screwing in and pieces commonly get caught under washer. There is a few other reasons but would recommend just get the new red body washer every service. Always give the seat a grind with a re seating tool, flush outside the brass shavings. Think I need to make a how to video there is a lot to watch out for when servicing taps. If done wrong it can cost thousands in water damage and water bills.
As soon as l heard G'day l knew l was in the right place. Retirement Village wont fix it, can afford a plumber so putting on my big girl pants and giving it a crack.
why do people have outdoor taps to begin with?? Gardening? Landscaping? What a waste...to think that billions of people on this planet are given outdoor taps to play around with for their hobbies.
Hey Sheereen, that’s an interesting take on it 🤔 you may be right! You are a lifesaver and an amazing teacher. Like others you saved me from getting someone out to fix it.

Hey Matt, that sucks mate👎
Is replacing the tap an option rather than trying to get into the tap body/spindle?
Best of luck, Kent
Great thanks, nicely explained and good clear videoing. Thank you.
Thanks Rebecca, you’re very kind👍 Kent
Good video. My T handle is very hard to move. is it because of the O rings?
Hey Naumanrahim, yes it’s most likely the O’rings, it can also be a build up of hard deposits like calcium causing it to be stiff, pull it apart, clean & lubricate, replace o’rings and valve(tapwasher), and it should be good as new! Best of luck 👍Kent

Tried to undo the spindle in anti clockwise with a wrench but it so jam that threads are started to flatten. How do i open it?

Hey Bec, do you need to borrow a bigger hammer 🤣
