What a transformation. You've transformed what 99.9% of people would have tossed in the garbage into a beautiful tool anyone would would use. Great job and video. I don't comment much but always look forward to your next video. Keep up the great job.
That paint made this old beauty a one a of a kind! The pin you made was excellent gave me some ideas for if I need to make a pin like it in the future.
I received a new notice While sitting alone. A new post on your channel! It came on my phone. An adjustable wrench Made by B & C. It’s rusty-it’s crusty, Just what will we see? You soaked it and beat it You need Scout’s short hammer. You then drilled it out Without too much clamor. I’m watching you “machine” while I sit in the shade. The pin came out great. I like what you made. Chuck, then the Flitz. You told quite a tale About the B & C wrench That you got in the mail. Another fine piece of work Mr. M. From the Lazy L in Sherman, TX, thanks for the fun. 🤠

Thanks Thomas! I've had success with the drill press as a wood lathe too! Check out my recent mini screwdriver project! ua-cam.com/video/Yn_jWF1xgCU/v-deo.html
@@357magdad That screw driver turned out great. One question what kind of speed do you run using your drill press as a lathe? I think I'm running it to fast I have a lot of kick back and gouging. Could be my experience too.
Nothing like a few good schwacks to get things moving. Sort of like the old antenna TV sets, when you'd smack them on the side to get a picture - after putting aluminum foil on the antenna and standing on one leg.
It was never going to look like new again but you took what was essentially scrap iron and produced a fully functioning tool. Great restoration when working with something so beaten up.
Almost caught you there in the reflection of that wrench buddy!! Fun thing is, I am working on a fully frozen wrench now to. I got it all apart, just the piece of pin in the tumbwheel is still stuck. It's soaking in 50/50 acetone and ATF now, I really hope to avoid drilling that thing, I will be of center on that for sure! Great idea on the initial turning down of the allthread, I've been thinking about how to do that for a while, now I know!
I never thought to re tap the hole. I have a shifter with a missing pin, but it is a 7mm thread and I don't have a 7mm tap. Maybe I will go bigger, thanks for the idea.
Ooooh I like the idea of using the drill press to shave down some threaded rod for the pin. I also don't have a lathe at the moment, and that's a fairly light duty job for the drill press. Thanks for the idea!
I finally got to this video ..Making the new pin has given me some ideas on how to use my drill press ..I have a 60 deg rotary diamond bit and a diamond shaped file on order for a project ..I am also designing my own wrench made from 1/8 in. flat stock
Very nice! You are an inspiration to us all! I picked up a whole set of those in the "s" form at a yard sale. I think they are in a bit better condition to start with, but clearly I have a lot of work to do!
Awesome job! I've used the DIY lathe trick with some copper rods that I needed about half as thick. It worked very well. The wrench turned out beautiful. The ONLY thing I would've added to the process is using a needle file to bring back some of the knurling. Otherwise, she's still a beaut and I'm sure the original maker would be proud to have it in his toolbox again. 👍
Excellent job and video. Great innovation without a lathe! Too bad about that knurling being so bad though. I think touching it up with gray in the grooves helped it somewhat.
My goodness! What a wonderful job. That must have been some investment of time and effort into a wrench that was a .25 flea market purchase. You are a master of your craft sir. I aspire to someday reach your level of experience. Nice.
Nice results. I had a similar challenge on an adjustable wrench but mine was pitted pretty bad and I had to recut the grooves in the knurled knob. It did not turn out nearly as nice as yours but it works fine so it is in the mobile tool kit.

Very good job. I have told you this before but I will again. Wow you always amaze me how you get things done with minimal tools. How do you cut your pads on the scotchbrite? I have tried but they don't look very good. Stay safe and healthy my friend. Thanks
Thanks Glen! I got an exhaust pipe adapter from the local auto parts store and sharpened the end. I push and twist to cut the discs out. Sometimes it doesn't cut all the way through so I finish the job with scissors. The shape doesn't have to be perfect, the disc will true itself as you use it.
Filthy, Rusty and Stuck (FRS) - music to tool restorer's ears. You really had your work cut out for you on this FRS wrench. Liked prepping the pin. I have trouble keeping my Dremel polishing pads that come with the kits and that go on the course threaded arbor tight on the arbor. Not sure what I am doing wrong. But I see you just by them already mounted. Good idea. Wow the Niupika page has some good stuff for the small work.

That paint made this old beauty a one a of a kind! The pin you made was excellent gave me some ideas for if I need to make a pin like it in the future.
Thanks! This was a fun project!
It came out so industrial looking! It reminds me of the 40s and 50’s lathes and milling machines I used to use in high school
I think I saw JohnFix or JoesShop do the black letters on gray and I had been waiting for the right project to try it myself!
Nice job. Gave that old wrench a new life.
It is very rewarding to bring old tools "back from the dead"!
Another fantastic job. Your channel was already 10/10, but Chuck has added a whole new dimension of excellence.
If Chuck sees this comment, he's gonna demand the premium bird seed!
He probably deserves it, but mum's the word.
Excellent rescue. The replacement pin worked great. And, you did it with tools the average workshop guy is likely to have. Not all of us have a lathe.
Thanks Pat! Chuck wants me to buy a lathe! I told him we don't have the room or the budget! LOL
This wrench would probably have ended up in the landfill, but you saved it. A good demo on making the pin . Enjoyed watching, thanks.
