I became worried when I watched you making the longitudinal cuts with a hacksaw. I didn't think you could get the cuts on target or perfectly straight. But you pulled it off! I would imagine the circular file could correct for any minor deviations from straight, and cut to the depth you wanted.
I know JB weld has a variety of products, but I did my own experiments and settled on epoxy with fly ash. Fly ash is available for about 30 bucks for a 70 pound bag. It forms a stiff paste that will adhere to flat, vertical, and even overhead surfaces. Truly amazing amounts of fly ash can be added to epoxy for amazingly thick pastes. I've used it recently to patch holes in a concrete sidewalk. It cures hard as a rock! I use System Three T-88 epoxy.

I know the feeling of paying too much. I purchased a Yankee #41 push drill at a recent flea market visit for $3. When I got home after cleaning and closer inspection, I felt I paid too much.
In another recent flea market, I picked up a North Bros Yankee #30 ratchet screwdriver in excellent condition for $1. No bits, but I will be making a bit with hex adapter. In this case I got a bargain.

Sadly no bits. I kick myself for not checking until I got home. I agree the bits are not cheap.
The bigger disappointment is that this must be an earlier design, not spring mechanism to hold the bits. The collar is a screw design. I do not know what the original bits look like. There is a hole in the shaft to engage some detent in the bit, but not sure how this worked with a screw collar.

Mrs Magdad was correct in her valuation of the screwdriver before you performed your usual magic. What would she value that beauty at now?
Thanks for excellent video - as always.
