My father, in Argentina, bought a Chevrolet C-10 pick-up in 1966. That adjustable wrench came from the factory with the pick-up. I still have it and use it in my work, refrigeration. Very good video.
I would go to the cinema to watch this. This was fun all the way through. Hope the cat is doing fine after all the sacrifices. It's good to know you have a friend down there in the workshop.
@@iso-c I was a precision engineer and did a lot of basic hand tool training. Filing was included, and the way that Mr. Patina did his work here was quite literally textbook. I was taught a specific way to file, and was shown precisely why I shouldn't do it other ways. I don't mind people doing their own work differently, I don't go out of my way to criticise or point out mistakes, ever. I am not saying that it matters an enormous deal, and I will never criticise someone for doing it "wrong", but I will compliment good technique when I see it. My comment was not an insightment to discussion on proper or most efficient technique, it was simply a compliment.
Yeah I’m not even a machinist, nor do I do anything that requires me to machine, but if I were wealthy you can bet I would have a super high end cnc multi axis mill and a lathe. You can make anything you need almost.
I thought I would look at a tool like this and how great it looked but you have doing it now. Nicely done sir very nicely done indeed. Thanks for sharing this video. Paul 👍😁🇨🇱🇺🇸

It's impressive to see complicated pieces restored, but it's even better to see this much care put into a relatively simple tool. Fantastic filing and polishing technique, and a beautiful result!
Great video as usual. You obviously spent a lot of time on it from all the filing, sanding and milling. I assume since you have a lathe and mill you have a machinist background. Always great to see tools like that being used.
VERY NICE. You are one of a few people who knows how to use a file. I see too many who think it’s a saw. The wrench when done is SO NICE I would not have the heart to use it. I would have to display it.
FANTASTIC restoration! Tools from years ago, are far better quality than tools made today. You could restore the old vice, for your next video. ( You probably will.) 😆
Beutiful! I seemed to have missed this restoration but... I can confirm it is wonderful. I doubt you will see this comment in the many others comments but i just wanted to say congrats. You have acheived perfection. This is just beautiful. It is an art and you are the artist
you had the wrench backwards for tightening, ALWAYS tighten down into the lower adjustable jaw with this type of tool- this is why the jaws were no longer parallel and had to be milled!! you loosened the nut with the wrench the correct way, but then you have to flip it over to tighten-
My dear friend, you did a nice restoration of the pipe wrench. If you don't mistake me I would like to make one comment: you nicely filed the fixed and moving jaws made it mirror polish. Since this wrench is supposed to be used for the pipe works, the whole purpose of its intended use has been defeated after you filed jaws. Now, it has become a adjustable spanner. Still it is not too late. You can make the parallel groves and restore of its intended purpose. Good luck.
This was a smooth jaw wrench to begin with. They're typically used for brass corp stops and fittings where you don't want to mar the finish, they're not for gripping/tightening round pipe. They basically grip large brass fittings with parallel surfaces - large nuts.
Uuuuf! I finally looked it to the end! Yes, red with a mirror is much better than black. Great, yes! Und die katze muss zu Sicherheitskursen geschickt werden. Ordnung ist ordnung. Safety first!
Another great video Mr P?! Love to watch you work. Just found you and some other superb craftsman on the internet. The minute detail work is what thrills me most. Many others on UA-cam stop when only halfway there to an excellent finish when you and a FEW others do it right! Thank you!!!
