Shots fired? It's not an opinion or interpretation or nitpicking... it's a pretty obvious, basic fact. No matter the opponent, in 5 years in charge they've only had a handful of games with a complete performance. 2 of them were when GB was away. Honestly, no one is looking at this team saying.... wow, that's a well managed team.

For real. No need to say "shots fired", like it's some crazy criticism. It's just facts. WE NEED TO TURN THE CORNER WITH THIS TEAM.

everyone knows Berhalter is a terrible coach, except for the USSF. Talk about signature wins? He's had more signature losses, including the last game against T+T. They should be able to beat them with nine men. The US will never reach any potential with him at the helm.
Ask yourself, are any UEFA, or S American teams afraid to face the US in any tournament? Nope, they chalk it up as an easy win.

As long as Gregg Berhalter is at the helm, this USMNT will be mediocre at best. The fact that the federation brought him back after all the unnecessary drama with Berhalter tells you everything. Gregg shoulda never been the manager in the first place

This whole discussion about having a style of play is part of the issue with US soccer imo. Countries that have a style of play, developed that style naturally over the years based on the players they had and how they were developing their youth. It's not something that can be forced.
Gregg wants to be that guy who defines the style of play for America. Hence why he insists on shoving his "system" down the players throats. Even though it isn't very good and clearly doesn't suit them. US Soccer needs to stop trying to force Soccer Culture. Focus on developing good talent and Winning important matches and things like culture and style of play will happen naturally.

From CBS Sports Golazo. They TRIED to get him into something but he handled it well. And it's a massive point. Arena had a couple BIG wins. Vs. Portugal in the World-Cup and Mexico in the same World Cup. Even Bob Bradley had one - a win vs. Spain in the Confederations Cup. Not at the same level but still, even Klinsmann broke the mold vs. Ghana and came oh-so-close against Portugal. But Berhalter thus far... it's true, 0-0 vs. England.
I honestly don't believe Berhalter is a terrible manager. I just don't think he's ready for this level and needs the day-to-day and maybe even an assistant role first. But the USSF rubber stamped him.

Agreed. At some point, we have to stop hearing about the "potential" and see actual results. A lot of our main guys, like Pulisic, are getting into their mid 20s. Which should arguably be them entering the prime years of their careers. The whole young, developing narrative is not going to work for this generation much longer.

A real federation doesn’t hire a guy like Berhalter. A real federation doesn’t bring back a Berhalter. A real federation would let a Berhalter go after he flames out of Copa America next Summer. A real federation would not let Berhalter lead these players to 2026.
    But we have the USSF.

The USMNT program today is about commercializing the new young players. They threw out the "old" guys (that knew how to win) and focused on the youngsters, that might bring more views and endorsements. Money first, winning second.

Installing futsal goals on basketball courts in poor neighborhoods is the best investment the USSF could make in developing talent. None of the US Men’s players have a relationship with the ball in the way South American, African, and even European players do because they are coached from the beginning instead of developing ball skills naturally and playing the game for the fun of it.

Berhalter is absolutely terrible. The US is overrating their current talent pool, we are still a long way off from the top. However with a manager that actually knows how to get the best out of his players and actually set them up to win and make tactical changes in a game, there is enough talent to compete with the best. Berhalter is haolding this group back and it will only get worse.

I blame MLS. Now that they've let these players from the whole region into the league. They are getting better training and the lack of our best athletes playing other sports is starting to catch up. Pulusic is probably the only player on the USMNT in the attack that just looks like he's comfortable amd smooth on the ball.

There's no pleasing these guys. The same arguments have been made for 20 years since 2002 World Cup, and yet slowly but surely the US keeps getting better and better. His signature win is beating Mexico in the Nations League and Gold Cup (with out B team) both of which Mexico made every effort to win. However, now that those wins are behind us we look up and see nothing but discontentment. Big Surprise. We have to take the next step and beat UEFA and CONMEBOL teams, yes, but to say he has not signature wins isn't true. Also, Herc's comment about the worst Mexican team he's ever seen? No, it's just a team that hasn't achieved anything - they are not bad - and they haven't achieved primarily because the US keeps beating them.

    • @Freshnewz10
      @Freshnewz10 Рік тому +6

That’s where you’re wrong. Berhalter critics are not saying that USMNT is a World Cup contender what we are saying is that we have the most talented team so much that you have more players than any time in history playing in the champions league.
Berhalter is also lucky enough to face the worst CONCACAF teams with the exception of Canada. The fact that the World Cup is also being played in home soil should give us a an advantage to be expected to be in quarters.
I remember seeing Klinsman, Arena, and Bradley over performing against much tougher opponents that Berhalter has faced with less talented players.
If you were to use the USmnt players of Arena/Bradley/Klinsman era the ones that would have a fighting chance to compete with our current Roster would be Donovan, Dempsey, McBride, Claudio Reyna, Altidore, Cherundulo, Howard, Casey Keller, Berhalter, Onyewu, and BocaNegra.
Which proves that Klinsman and the second era of Arena is actually the coach who got the worst era of US players.
Michael Bradley and Klinsman also were able to compete against the golden era of Mexico. I would say that Mexico era was the most talented squad we seen in years which unfortunately underperformed which is what’s going to happen to the USmnt if we keep this coach
