The irony to this is that people who questioned the effectiveness of the virtual signaling (the armbands, the kneeling) on the pitch were called racist - the common folk who use their hard earned money to purchase tickets - and even were deemed unfit to be in the stadium. Some English fans wanted these people who weren't going along with it in the crowd to be doxxed and to be banned. "There's a bunch of cameras in the stadium, so use them to identify the people who aren't with us." I paraphrase.

We've seen players go wild towards fans before, Cantona, Xhaka, etc. But you've seen Ronaldinho, Etoo, Balloteli, Evra, Vinicius, Saka, Rashford, Lukaku etc have to take it and suck it up because the response from society would be very different towards a black player expressing anger the same way.

Sad that we still need to talk about it so much. You would think that adults who pay their own money would know how to behave when going to watch the game. But even more sad is the fact that nothing serious isn't being done about it and players will still get abused every which way they can get just because some fans don't know how to behave or want to "throw" them of their game.

@Football-Pundit England fans compromise of a lot of lower league fans particularly div2 and div3 where there are definitely more issues with discrimination. there's also an drink problem with England fans which is why in Qatar when it was banned England has zero incidents or arrests for the 1st time in 3 decades
those are not the same fans as the prem fans which is why the response they got when they came back was overwhelmingly different. when your comparing the top league the prem isn't just slightly better it's significantly better, all players report this.
it's far too frequent an occurance in Italy and spains top leagues to just ignore. the fact that some other places have some issues also is not an excuse. its literally every week in Italy to all the highest profile non white players. sort it the f out

    • @vkdeen7570

@Football-Pundit ur conflating two separate things. England's national team fans have a very specific dynamic with alcohol and compromise more of lower division fans.. even then it has improved a lot compared to the hooligan days.
that's not the same as the fans of the top division... nothing to do with the money. most fans are working class. it's to do with the culture the prem has built and how hard its worked to cut that nonsense out. it does happen but its not often and other fans in the stadium don't tolerate it.
Italy and spains top leagues have accepted it too long. the lukaku cases PROVES its institutional. there no way that ban would be upheld in the prem or accepted it just wouldn't happen. there severe cultural and institutional problems and they need to addressed. its embarrassing to have it happen week in week out.
I agree punishments need to be harder and taken more seriously. life long bans, fines, season tickets stripped ban every fab in an entire stand if u have to. fire all the racist cronies at the top as well. it's time to move forward atleast get on par with other top divisions

Fighting racism at stadiums is like dealing with a branch of a tree while leaving the root. The root cause of racism emanate from the homes, how these people are trained and taught to see people of color from the infancy stage of their lives. If there's any way to eradicate racism, it needs to start from homes, schools, religious organizations etc. Dealing with it at football centers is cool but not enough to overcome it as fans are filled with so much emotions.

What's being done hasn't worked, so why not try something new:
    1. 3 points deducted if any racism is heard, reported and confirmed by an independent body the first time.
    2. 6 points reduced for the 2nd confirmed incident.
    3. A total of 18 demerit points can be accrued over three seasons upon which the team gets relegated automatically.
    4. For international competitions, straight up match forfeit and further deductions if the FA doesn't take necessary action. Shutting down a stadium means nothing, it doesn't hurt enough.
    5. Repeat offenders (more than 3 times) should be immediately disqualified from the current tournament cycle. If it's UEFA/WC qualifiers or the finals tournament, they're immediately disqualified. Hit them where it hurts. Individual players who are involved in racism should be banned for a year and sent to racial sensitivity training.
    6. Transfer and financial sanctions that could possibly ruin them not a $5000 slap to the wrist or shit, we pay more than that to bring food into a train in Singapore.. Make it more like 5 million per incident and then they'll learn. Bankrupt them if needed, they don't deserve it anyways.
They tried the civilized way and it didn't work, maybe the barbarians who indulge in racism require a tyrannical approach. Racism persists not because the racists propagate it, it's because the so called 'good people' do nothing.

solution in my opinion, If racism is clearly being heard, give a yellow to the team who's crowd is being racist. happens again, give that player a red, he's sent off ONLY FOR THAT GAME (doesn't count against the players red cards), if it keeps happening, subsequent reds after that. if fans want to be racist, enjoy playing 8 v 11. On top of that, start with 1 section ban for 1 game, keeps happening, you from 1 section to 1/4 the stadium for 2 games, 1/2 stadium for 3 games, full stadium ban for 5 games. you need to punish the team those racists are rooting for and the self policing from the crowd and the team being punished will help eliminate it.
