- In this video I show you how to get a butter super smoooth MSFS2020 in just 10 minutes.
Subscribe to the channel: / @virtusim
Go to:
C:\windows\system32\GameBarPresenceWriter.exe.
Right click on it and select Properties, Security Tab
-Click on the Advanced Button
-Click on 'Change' button for Owner "TrustedInstaller"
-Enter the Object Name: This is the name that you log into Win10 or 11 or type administrator
-Click on "Check Name" to make sure it's spelled correctly.
-Click OK button
-Click on Apply button
-Click on OK to popup screen
You are back at the Properties Popup Screen
-Click on Advanced Button
-Click on Add Button
-Click on Select a Principal
-Click on space for Enter the Object Name: The name used to log into Win10
-Click on Check Name Button then click on the OK button once it is selected (if not check spelling).
-Click on box for Full Control then click on OK
Once you completed the above steps you click on the Apply button
-Click OK on popup screen
-Click OK again
you are now back at the Properties popup screen
You now should see your name added (you may need to scroll down to see it)
starts the steps to return GameBarPresenceWriter.exe back from you to TrustedInstaller
-Click on Advance Button
-Click on the word "Change" for Owner
Enter the Object Name type: NT Service\TrustedInstaller
Then click on Check Names
You can now rename C:\Windows\System32\GameBarPresenceWriter.exe to GameBarPresenceWriter2.exe
- By right clicking on it and selecting "Rename".
- Just add a number to it.
- Save it then reboot the PC.
- Make sure you are rebooting the PC and not going into hibernation mode.

WOW...the video title is no exaggeration! I can't believe how smooth MSFS is in VR now, even in notoriously difficult areas like Los Angeles and Paris. Not only that, I was able to increase my Objects LOD from 50 to 200 in these areas with very little impact. And my super-sampling in Oculus Tray Tool went from 1.4 to 1.7 (not using ASW) and it just looks amazing in my Rift S. Like you, I'm hard-pressed to imagine how it could be better, but am looking forward to trying the 3.7 DLSS update to find out. Running 4070ti on i7 8th gen. Also running Turbo Mode in OpenXR Toolkit. You have earned a sub from me, sir!

Just came to say to everyone to be VERY careful if you are going to play with these settings. I like to think of myself as being quite computer savvy, I build my own and my families computers and have always dabbled in tweaking sim settings for the better part of 24 years now. I tried these settings and am in the middle of a complete computer reinstall as a result. I appreciate Virtusim giving the tips and tricks and had it running nicely from Islandsimpilot s tweaks, but whatever it changed corrupted my entire install. I made a backup and did all the usual precautions and my backup and restore did not work at all and was corrupted for some reason, (perfectly clean on this PC for the last 3 years). Just be VERY aware when "frame chasing" or trying to eek that last bit of smoothness out, sometimes its just not worth it! Good luck and be aware! Regards.

Thanks for your tips and contribution to the community. But I also would highly recommend to "stop services and kill exes within the MSFS startup sequence" instead of tweaking system owned files and registriy-entries because it can break your system. I know, batch files maybe for advanced users but if you get a little bit into it, this is the saver way and you can add stopping more gerbage while running msfs and after a system reboot everithing is back until you restart your msfs. To give a hint (can`t post by startup-batch file hiere): I use the following commands: "net stop" to kill unnessecary services (f.e. windows update service, which you dont need while flying), "taskill /F /IM" to stop running but unwanted exe (f.e. the windows searchindexer"), also as setpriority and processoraffinity. All in one batchfile. If you like we can find a way to share my startup-batch-file. Regards

Simupdate 15 last beta, with AutoFPS and your tip, the Sim is so smooth in VR now, even with powerlines and lifts from Mamus :-)), so enjoyable in helicopter.
Off topic: when you speak while flying, do you apply any filters (obs plugin?) to your voice? It sounds as if you were using an aviation headset.

@@Virtusim I think you could push it even a tiny bit more, to make clear that this is an artistic choice. This was my first video of yours I was watching and at first I thought you just have a bad mic X-D. Alternatively a supershort intro before the "inflight mic" without equalized audio might be an idea. Although I like the effect, but every video is someones first video and some people might get shied away by a "bad mic". Would be a shame if you loose potential viewers because of that.
There’s a video also on UA-cam where filters are set up in OBS. That’s probably also an option.
Hi Mike, thank you for another video which helps us to improve our HP Reverb VR experience. Before I make these changes, please can I ask a few questions. Will these new changes effect my other PC games? Are these changes made for MSFS VR only? Can I revert back if I am not happy with the mod? I'm just cautious and don't want to mess up my PC. @countdavis disabling the gamebarprecensewirter will improve your other games too. If it messes up other games, just follow the same steps and rename the file to the original name. The registry edits won't harm other games. You can easily remove them if you want to revert back.

Hi Mike, I followed your steps but all permissions greyed out with my Windows 10. I clicked on “Change permission” before selecting ''Add' and its still greyed out. I will have to skip this mod for now.
How do we remove the reg edits as these changes have messed my sim up totally. I did do a restore point before hand but this doesn't even work now

Just click on "Change Permissions" then click on "add"
I have the same issue and cannot change permissions there. Add stays grey.

It could be that you are not logged in as the "administrator" but as "user". In that case you have to give authoriy to that profile.
Add administrators with an S at the end instead

thanks Mike for the video. You were saying at the beginning of the video (point 3) that MSFS would also be put in priority mode. I do it manually, how do you make it so that it is always set to automatic?
By using the registry edit I show in the video.
I tried that, it seemed that it was changed with that file but when I launch MSFS and go into the task manager „details“, then I see that it has the „normal“ status and not „high“ Does this mean it wasn’t successful?

Agree with your comment, I did not see high priority mode enabled by default after performing the reg edit in this video.
Seems that CPUPriorityClass does not actually get added under PerfOptions.
Using Mike's information takes us 99% of the way there.

Hi, same for me, at the second part, I click on 'advanced', then I only have the 'Change permissions' button, not greyed-out. When I click on that, all button options (Add, Remove, View, Enable inheritance) are greyed-out. Can this only be done on Win 11 Pro? If so, I only have Win 11 Home...

Keep in mind that gamebar is essential for x3d users as it tells the cores how to align. Turning the gamebar functionaity off could really be disruptive for AMDx3d users.

Hello, just trying this out but the "disable_news.reg" file ist not being accepted as a registry file. The error message states it can't be imported as it is not a valid registry file. Actually if I look for that path in my registry, it can't be found.
hi. when i right click on my notepad to inport the codes to my registry editor the is no option to open the saved note with the registry editor. can you advise please?
did you save them as a .reg file?
And my reg newsandinterests is at Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\default\NewsAndInterests\AllowNewsAndInterests
