CSX Last Crossing & End of the Line Downtown Miami

- The last Railroad Crossing on the CSX S Line on the Downtown Miami Spur. It features one signal that carries the old SAL, SCL Seaboard Coast Line pinnacle on top. Also, you will see where the old SAL Train Station was located in Miami, Florida. In this video, I walk from the last crossing to the end of the line, a few feet shy of NW 7th Ave. where the train tracks abruptly come to an end. The last part of this railroad is seemingly abandoned. You will see flatbed trailers parked on it and sometimes, even cars park there as well. This track merged with the FEC back in the day.

I'm surprised the railroad didn't pull the tracks out instead of leaving them there. Up where I reside in Buffalo, NY area any old railroad tracks have been cleared out and many converted to bike paths and walk trails.
Very interesting. Sometimes I feel like railfans in Miami are a rare breed. Then again, we don’t have that many tracks compared to other places.
Yes sir, we get the short end of the stick over here. There is only one local CSX rock train and the only other freight rr is FEC. In other parts, people get UP, BNSF, and NS! Thanks as always for the views and comments, Adrian
in 1975, i got on a train there to go to US Navy Bootcamp in Orlando.
Also, I don't think it connected with FEC track, but there was a diamond a little east of there.
Hi, Rolly! Bad enough I worry about you getting hit by an automobile. Now I worry about you getting attacked by a dog! Take care, buddy, and keep the videos coming.
My favorite crossing lights
I love ❤️ this video RailROL82
Very Cool! Thanks for sharing!
thanks for this video my friend it's a matter amazing😀 thanks Rail
The site of the old Miami Baseball Stadium just north of the tracks. And yes some of that line is used during the overnight hours for running around and/or shoving operations.
I remember the yard. The crossing at 7th avenue was paved over and a couple of junk rail cats were trapped in that yard.
That building facade at 7:35 facing NW 7th Avenue which looks like a Roman era design structure is the exact facade that was on the Seaboard RR train station at that location. When they tore down the train station they kept the front facade at that location as an historic monument to appease preservationists who wanted the entire station to be designated as an historical monument and not be torn down.
Does the ROW continue beyond the end of the tracks?
Good job keeping on top of the history of the railroads. Someday you should take your work on the road and run down the same in other areas. Like Hammond, Indiana which at one time at more tracks than any place in the country.
Stay at it.
Just wanted to point out that I'm extremely familiar with that hood. The building which is on the spot of the old Seaboard Station is indeed an entirely different building from the 1920s station. The station was 99.9% demolished in 1981. Only the very front part of the main front sidewalk entrance on 7th ave is still there. The rest of the bulding in its place is all new (ish), built from 81 to about late 82.
Cool, just wanted to make sure everyone knew that. Anyway your vids are great. I watch them often. Great stuff.
You must be on the part of the line in between Alapathatta and Civic center stations In the 90's MacArthur Diaries was there and Miami Stadium too
strange and sad to see the tracks just end. I wonder when the last one came through
Very Neat Find. Other then this, there are barely-no remaining evidence of this spur. Also from what i understand, back in the day part of this spur was used and owned by the Miami Municiple Railroad.
***** SAL then Miami Municiple I think got trackage rights
Very nice
wow nice video
I had Subscribed.
Roly an update, I was trying to find my original comment but didn't see it, however I saw some activity over here this morning while on Metrorail. From what I could make out it was a consist of gondolas with a FRED. Couldn't make out the locomotive but I would think it was CSX. Roughly around 6am.
RailROL82 No prob sir. And yes you do lol. I kid you not I was really tempted to come off the Santa Clara station and scope it out since I had an hour to waste before work started.
An other winner J. I take it there are no more customers up the spur to the warehouse district?
roly, why so many stories in the
station?, was this their headquarters, or division quarters?
Here in the philippines...i forgot it when..somebody is building a small house so i watched and help them...when they dig there is a steel long steel...we are wondering why there is steel...we found out that it is a very very old raildroad track hahaha..somebody told us..
Yes I have seen a train before
When do you estimate the last time the crossings activated
Do they ever store cars there or are the crossings never on at all
Is this railroad crossing used ever and if possible why
Does the crossing ever activate these days
I am going to Orlando Florida in July, I am landing at the airport, know anything about how to get to the hotel without a shuttle??
OK thanks
Is the whole Miami spur abandon
lol now if a train decided to come there oh he will be in trouble and crying about his truck 😫😫😫
+RailROL82 “#RailROL82” lol right on bro
