I'm probably the millionth person to say "if this was a genuine entry, this could have won Eurovision"
Iceland realistically can't host Eurovision. That part of the movie was unfortunately true, although they did exaggerate how small the stadium is it still is pretty small.

I always believed that was the case too, but in May 2020 an agreement was reached between Iceland and Australia that, if Australia ever wins the contest, it will be hosted in Iceland (with Australia covering the expenses) . I think Husavik is a very strong symbol for all our hometowns, I've been living abroad for over 20 years (and I'm not from Iceland), and I cry like a baby every time I hear this song.

@@MyLolle There are some native tribes that hunt whales, sure. It’s what they’ve been doing for thousands of years. It’s part of their culture. While I, personally, am not fond of this practice I also don’t think I have any right to tell the native people of this land what is right. I’d also add that there’s a pretty huge difference between a native tribe hunting a few whales per year and commercial whaling. I’d also also add that the overwhelming majority of Alaskans do not hunt or eat whale.

While the song is about Husavik in Iceland, Molly is actually Swedish, and this is recorded on Öland, Sweden.
I was looking for the recorded location. By searching on Google Maps (satellite view) on Öland, Sweden, I can't find this little house near the see. Can you pinpoint the exact location please ? Thank you.

A rough explanation:
É = ye
ð = th as in "the". So a soft ´th´sound
Þ = th as in "thorn". A hard ´th" sound.
R = is always rolled
So it could roughly be written as:
"yeg er meth th-yer"

I don't think actually winning is so much important. Becoming part of Eurovision lore is more important. Lots of songs which did not win but everyone will remember forever, like Sound of Silence, We Are the Winners, Buranovskiye Babushki etc. And having no winner in 2020, this song is what peoplewill associate with the contest for this year. And of course she will get to sing the song on the grand stage of the next Eurovision, no doubt about it.

She's competed in the Swedish ESC 'Melodifestivalen' at least 2 times I can recall. And her Swedish work are all amazing. 'Rosa himmel' 'Utan dig' 'Sand'.

I left my hometown 4 years ago to pursue my master's degree in a lovely country which is 15.000 km away from home, family and friends and this song gives some magical nostalgia which makes me miss my hometown even more. Can't wait to visit it again! ❤️❤️❤️

I thought that this was going to be another silly comedy from Will Ferrell, but instead it's become one of my favorites. And this song may be one of the best songs ever! Thank you Will for introducing Molly to us!
Agree.....it's not just a comedy....I loved it ....& I usually avoid Will Ferrell movies......But if you watch 'Kicking and screaming '......it is a similar comedy with an underlying serious story.

Molly Sanden is another one of those “And WHY did I not know about this amazing singer until....?” Eurovision hopefully will put her on a bigger global stage and nobody would blame her for staying in Wonderful Scandinavia! A beautiful woman with a beautiful voice.
She has competed in the Swedish version of Eurovision (Melodifestivalen) she just didn't win it and therefor didn't qualify for ESC.
I literally had to be forced to watch this film...and It's the best film I've seen in a long time.

The world needs to hear this version. The movie version is great, but this version brings chills and tears. One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I listen to it over and over all day at work. Such a beautiful and dynamic voice.

I loved her before she became big! I was at a concert in Gröna Lund on the small scene! I was sad that she just wanted to preform on the small stage and not the big central one! But that was years ago, now she is singing on the big!!
I hopw someday Molly will represent Sweden at Eurovision! She deserves this! And her song in 2016 was power! Loved it!
