I was hooked on this series when Sneaki, sharing half of her consciousness with her sister, strangled their malefactor by each controlling one hand in the same body. I was skeptical at the beginning at what seemed to be a joke campaign. Now I'm tearing up over a character's death. The empty chair after she left made it even worse.
I’ve watched more than a few character deaths both in games and games I’ve watched. Arrow has passed the most crushing death I’ve seen. Because of why it happened. None of these characters leaps out as a favorite of all time sort of character but the group dynamic works so well. Come on Raise Dead!

Nobody's talking about the fact the waiting for the undead is described the EXACT SAME way as back in episode one, going full cercle. The series opened and is ending on the same words, but they're not looking around at an unprepared unknowned group, but as said Ellie : "Friends." That's what I'm here for
You know you're really immersed into the story and your imagination takes over when you start crying along with the characters this was absolutely amazing August acting was truly amazing and his narration is on point all of them truly pull you into the story I love it
Fingers crossed that Adam makes a special appearance as Bone Caller and occassionally has his attack nullified because he's retching while surrounded by his followers.
Potential consolation for everybody who is desperate about Arrow: I'm sure that when Rob decided to give the group a break at 15:55 min, they did not only talk about their new level 7 stats, they also talked about how the players feel about this dramatic situation, and what the characters would/wouldn't want to do in reaction to it. From other non-VLDL campaigns I know that Rob is usually keen on respecting player boundaries and gives his players the right to veto stuff that would severely trigger them (e.g. graphic descriptions of certain ways to d*e) So if Britt had been completely devastated that her character drowned much faster than it would have in real life (people don't go from 100% alive to 100% de*d in such a short time underwater), he might have offered to debate the whole is-Arrow-still-within-24-hours-of-water-breathing situation. Or he might have agreed to give her character severe brain/nerve damage that will take a lot of effort/time to heal. Or reminded Ellie/everyone to use their hero coin(s) for her. PS: Some people in the comments say that Phoenix should have enthralled Arrow while also communicating with her spirit, but I don't think Daffodil could bear doing that to anyone else after the whole catastrophe with her sister.
I love how Phoenix is totally into the game ("I should cast Sanctuary!") and Rhi is taking things very seriously like she's in a college course. Ellie and Brit are always a joy as well, my ADHD sisters. Y'all got really great energy to watch!
Kudos to the teams acting, its really getting immersive due to these excellent performances now. Most notably Rob and Phoenix, exceptional investment into your characters and I can feel the emotion you put in. Thank you guys!😁
Rob for you low self esteem - that was so good and engaging story! Arrow getting alive again due to sacrifice of her friend just to die as a true hero is something that every adventurer should wish for their story!:)
If it's real: Love to see that level of immersion from a player, give Pheonix more game time. If it's acting: That totally fooled me, way to emote, give Pheonix more game time
Brit deserves so much credit for playing out Arrow the way she did. Sacrificing your character for the story and your team is not easy, particularly when your party doesn't have a high enough level cleric carrying a diamond on them at all times. Bravo.
I love you, Misfits. 💞 Big kudos to Rob as storyteller and the girls for playing their characters so believably. Losing Arrow feels absolutely heartbreaking, I feel for her party members. 💔 But I think something epic is coming for the finale though, as our girls have made some allies on their journey. I can't wait for the next episode! But now I have to go and dry my tears first. *sniff* 😢

I still strongly diagree with insta-death from drowning with zero saving throws. So they can fall off a 100 foot cliff, be torn apart by a werewolf, or get exploded at the epicenter of a fireball and still have a chance to survive it... But 18 seconds underwater will kill even the hardiest adventurer?

not to be taken negatively at all, they're all busy people.. but Rowan and Rhi's absolute lack of dnd playing retention for most of both their campaigns has been the highlight of these videos for me.
Goooods this game is so good. Incredible acting all around; I'm so glad they let the dramatic greenscreen moments breathe without breaking them up with bathos. Got me crying real tears.

No, it is definitely on the players that they still did not know basic rules and their characters well enough this late into their campaign. Ellie somehow forgot that her water breathing spell was only due to her gong. And somehow all of them still seem clueless about the rules for dashing at this point. When Rob told Ellie that Bubble had managed to reach Arrow's body and free her, she still had her hero point and she could have used it to dash upwards(or rather action surge first, which Rob has explicitly allowed with a hero point, then dash). If Rob allowed Bubble to bring Arrow's body upwards by 15 feet, then Horatio would have been able to push Arrow up on her turn and she might have been able to live. Technically Arrow might have survived all by herself if Britt wanted to be a bit metagamey (which the girls all seem to be highly allergic to). She could have swam upwards to the surface to catch her breath, and readied her action to grapple and push the werewolf down before he could break the surface. But or she could have asked Rob how far away August was before recklessly using her hero point in such a mechanically inefficient manner (it definitely made a lot of sense from a roleplaying perspective, but it totally sucked in terms of mechanical effect). It turned out that August was so far away that the party had a few turns to whittle down the werewolf anyway.
Difference between the ladies' game and the boys' campaign: Ten minutes in now, one dead PC, everybody's in tears, but somehow... nobody has called Rob an asshole yet. Nobody complaining "Dude, I can't BELIEVE you just killed one of our characters! What the hell, Rob? Comedy retract??" Everyone is just playing along with the story, waiting to see how this unfolds.
So basically Sneaki/Daffodil wasted a WISH to make Arrow Mortal again so she could Drown before even meeting her brother again. And the Phantom Rogue Fey causes More Death and Mayhem, Chaos Wins ! 🧚♀
This is their last IRL tablesession, split up into the episodes 43-49. I'm afraid Britt will probably not be coming back to the table for the last 3 episodes that are not yet published 😞 Rob wrote in the comment section of ep. 43 "Not joking. Ep 49 is the last ep. [...] TotM ends in January, AoA ends in June, I think, then the new campaign (also a short campaign) starts shortly after that."
From experience, as player when your character dies, you want some time to process it. You cant jump to other character so soon, you need time to prepare yourself to next session.
@@Veksu71 She could not have been totally unprepared for for her character's death in my opinion. She ignored multiple warnings from Rob, and the fact that she was on 2hp the entire time. But then again I come from the mindset of a video game player, which I highly believe none of the girls at the table have.
@@mingyi456 If i remember correctly, this all happened during one session (even if it is split to multiple videos), so death of you character is so big blow emotionally that it is not easy to prepare. I guess when they paused the session they talked about what to do with Britt.

But my point is that she was being absolutely reckless with her character just because of roleplaying. So she should have known that dying was definitely a very likely scenario. Just like if you choose a hardcore permadeath difficulty on a video game and still play recklessly (additionally without any skill at the game), you should have known you are very likely going to die in the game.

I really love the different dynamics of the two campaigns. Girls: Friendship, love, living every moment. Helping each other. Crying with sorrow and happiness. Boys: "We need a distraction. I should shit myself."

These past few episodes have been literally the "Absolute Cinema" meme on repeat, and am loving every milisecond.

This is their last IRL tablesession, split up into the episodes 43-49. I'm afraid Britt will probably not be coming back to the table for the last 3 episodes that are not yet published 😞 Rob wrote in the comment section of ep. 43 "Not joking. Ep 49 is the last ep. [...] TotM ends in January, AoA ends in June, I think, then the new campaign (also a short campaign) starts shortly after that."

Why not let Britt control some of the NPCs? Makes sense for her to play as August at least, I think.
Exactly this! I like Rob as the DM, but this was a bad call IMO.
August could even have had a Warrior Sidekick class to add some flavor.
From experience, as player when your character dies, you want some time to process it. You cant jump to other character so soon, you need time to prepare yourself to next session.
@@Veksu71 She could not have been totally unprepared for for her character's death in my opinion. She ignored multiple warnings from Rob, and the fact that she was on 2hp the entire time. But then again I come from the mindset of a video game player, which I highly believe none of the girls at the table have.
@@mingyi456 If i remember correctly, this all happened during one session (even if it is split to multiple videos), so death of you character is so big blow emotionally that it is not easy to prepare. I guess when they paused the session they talked about what to do with Britt.
@@Veksu71 It was indeed 1 continuous session, and they make it obvious whenever it is a new session. But my point is that she was being absolutely reckless with her character just because of roleplaying. So she should have known that dying was definitely a very likely scenario.
Just like if you choose a hardcore permadeath difficulty on a video game and still play recklessly (additionally without any skill at the game), you should have known you are very likely going to die in the game.

I think it made narrative sense for the characters to be focused on their dead friend at that moment and not really picking up on other stuff.

I really love the different dynamics of the two campaigns.
