It's similar to grandma sowing bag but grandma's bag is much affordable, more organisation & water/stain resistance. It also has a detachable handle & straps. It's a FIFO bag. Cowabunga.!!
I admit, there’s a lot to like about this bag. I absolutely love the magnetic laptop compartment, and I wish everyone stopped using Velcro straps and just switched to magnets (looking at you, Alpaka). And I admit that the quick access side compartments are very clever. That said, at the price Black Ember is asking, I don’t think I could justify choosing the WPT over the Bravo Tote.
I love my WPT, especially for the side access pockets. I actually use a strap from a Forge max to create a cross-body strap. I connect it to both of the wider tote strap attachments (one on either side) while leaving the tote straps connected to the narrower attachment points. It distributes the weight so well by having the strap connected on both sides and lower down the bag than those loops on the sides of the top zipper. Black ember did just recently release a standalone strap for the forge bag, but it doesn’t work well with the WPT. Finally, black ember did make a “WPT Shpulder Bag” with ever so slightly redesigned attachment points on the zipper plus their beefy strap. I think they should just sell a bonafide strap for the original WPT.
There actually seem to be a few shoulder straps at Black Ember that fit the tote, even if they are found under different product lines at the web site. At least Forge 30's shoulder strap (which is really beefy) and the boarding kit's shoulder strap (though that might be too slim).
I find it useful to haul my daily essentials to short distances with a tote. Been using a tote from Porter(heat series). It’s basic in organization yet sophisticated enough in materials used and design.
Black Ember does make super high-quality products as you rightly point out. Seem over engineered in some areas which inflate the price a bit too much for comfort. The lifetime warranty is a good thing though, but mainly for those living in the US. Their keyring solution is awesome. Great review!
I've been waiting for this review! A con that i discovered with my WPT tote is that it leans forward too much (doesnt stand upright that much). Maybe it'll need some stretching or something.
Been waiting for this, very informative. I got my BE WPT Tote last week, also have a Alpaka Metro Tote in blue. Love them both. I was happy to pay for the premium price of the WPT 😂
Originally, I was intrigued by all of the optional accessories (handles, straps) you could add to the Black Ember Forge bag. But thinking more about that system (laser cut hypalon, metal clips), they are gimmicks. The removable handles, etc. are just additional points of failure.
Hey Aaron. Love your reviews. My main concern with this tote is if my water bottle leaks, instead of being isolated from the main compartment, water may spill over. Thoughts?
@@Nomads.Nation lol. Almost like a perfect tote to me if only they enclosed the water bottle from the main compartment. It does look feminine in some angles - like the Longchamp Le Pliage.
Unfortunately we shot review and found out that Sympl upgraded the tote to a new version. For those reasons we are going to re-shoot the review with the updated version, but it will take many months 😬
I appreciate your requests but to be honest this bag isn’t anywhere on our radar. We keep track of the bags we get the most requests for and this isn’t even cracking the top 100, so we gotta focus on bags that have more demand, I hope you understand 🙏🏽
Been waiting for this video! I bought one 2 weeks ago. I got the version with the shoulder strap and shorter briefcase handles. (Those loops are for the shoulder strap) As of this writing this version is sold out. I’ve used it as a daily brief and an overnighter so far. I absolutely love it. It looks amazing and the style is perfect for me. Stands on its own (after you pack it out 2-3 times) and is super functional for quick access with the front pocket and side access. Agree with the other comment about the back pocket not having a zipper. I also found that if I switch the handles out to the wider option, the back pocket pops open when carrying. So I’m sticking with the narrower option. I think it’s worth the money. The materials are A+, design and organization are 10/10 (some bags have too many pockets imho), and capacity hits the sweet spot if you will use it for daily and overnight carry. Guess I’m the niche market you mention!
I feel like you could get a similar size and shape for half the price if you looked in the women's section of pretty much and department store. But I suppose insecurities necessitate handbags for men be black, overpriced and called Black Ember WPT instead of Purse.. 🤪
@@Fasacorp132 hell no haha, and I use a compressible tote for that which I keep stored in my EDC backpack. But I think it's important to remember that not everyone shares your views on what's masculine/feminine. If you go to Tokyo, Paris, New York City, or Hong Kong, you'll see lots of dudes rocking totes like complete badasses.

Hi Aaron, would you please do a review on the Black Ember dex duffel?
It’s not currently on our radar, but I’ll add it to our wish list 💪🏻

This bag is tote-ally fantastic!
Just bought the Sympl one but may fork out for this at some point.
Yea if you’re looking for a beautiful/technical tote, this one’s hard to beat
Aaron, please review the Hyperpack Pro backpack a bit sooner. Thanks
thanks for your suggestion! I'll add it to our very long wish-list, but we don't get this request often so I don't want to get your hopes up... 💪
