    You are nitpicking in railroad candle thing. If you finish the game with the railroad as the top faction, there is no need to keep their presence secret - they are all over the commonwealth, diamond city and military checkpoints. Because the game makes these paints available, doesn't mean that the player has to use them from the start - that's the player's "fault". My problem with all these power armor-weapons-armor skins is that there are available from the beginning. The player should be able to use them after at least they first meet a member of the faction - or after killing a gunner for enemy ones - and not just after they exit the vault.

      Michail Zorzos It’s true that they shouldn’t be available from the start, but the problem with the Railroad still stands. Until you destroy the Institute, they are supposed to be hidden. I honestly don’t feel like the paint scheme would even warrant existing if you had to finish the main storyline to unlock it, but it really wouldn’t work at any point before then. Even as a free mod, I doubt anyone would ever bother with it if they had to wait until it was appropriate.

      I mean I agree with you it's like some of the faction based settlement items but at the same time most people have played through the game and might pretend they found a piece of that factions armour and decided hey let's join them or some shit like that but i some what agree with you

    The old world flag on the Minutemen armor and weapons is in reference to the original Minutemen in the 1700s. Preston even references this during the long walk to sanctuary as they are passing the statue.
    While they are not rebuilding the ideals of America as it was just before the war, they’re still rebuilding America, just built upon the ideals that it SHOULD have been built upon.

      Chris Sanderson The Minutemen armor would have still Looked better with more Minutemen logos instead of the flags on the shoulders and synth helmet. Alternatively for me I would probably use the sturdy combat arms seeing as they arent painted with flags

      @Nightwing9597 6 років тому +2

      Lone Stoner True. I’m not saying the flags look great by any means, but they’re not out of place to me. The rest of the combat armor looks amazing.

      Maybe the SS specifically went with the old flag in this case as it was the flag America used before it became corrupted, symbolizing Freedom and Liberty without the twisted corporate society of Fallout's pre-war America.

      The strange thing, however, is that the Sentinel, General and Elder insignias look like British 2nd Lieutenant, Lieutenant and Captain insignias respectively, but the Brotherhood was formed by an American

    • @williamleonardreesejr.1992
      @williamleonardreesejr.1992 6 років тому +18

      How exactly do you mean. Like how the Brotherhood has their Scribe armors and the Institute has the Courser armor? Each of the factions already has such unique armors available to them that it would kind of redundant would it not?

    • @ThugGreasy
      @ThugGreasy 6 років тому +6

      Each faction already has trademark uniforms and armor. BOS use their uniforms and combat armor. Institute has the white synth outfit and their porcelain armor. Railroad uses armored coats.
      The Minutemen have uniforms but no trademark armor. That said, it sort of makes sense for them just to scavenge the wasteland and use whatever they can loot from raider and gunner corpses. That's why I particularly like the Minutemen faction paint from this CC update. The new BOS armor colors looks much better than the vanilla BOS armor colors as well.

    On the BoS scheme: the "arrows" are most likely rank insignia, appearing as a stylized NCO Rank (Sergeant and up). Probably Staff Sergeant or Sergeant First Class, model dependant

    • @aussiebloke609
      @aussiebloke609 6 років тому

      Rank insignia would be the stacked chevrons - vertical and/or horizontal. There's also actual arrows, and they are different enough that they don't appear to be related (as well as both being shown in different places on a single set of armour.) You can see both on the same chestpiece at 2:58 - but I'm guess they're purely aesthetic and not actually significant.

  • @2011113
    @2011113 6 років тому

    @Oxhorn the candle logo for the railroad is meant to be “a light to shine the way” in two ways, the Old North Church is where the lanterns were placed to mark “one if by land, two of by sea” and also their name harkens back to the American Underground Railroad, which operated by night, so a lantern would be the logo for it, hence why Bethesda and mod authors would use candles and lanterns all over the place on armor and weapon skins

    Oxhorn, I think the US flag is more a representation of the ideals the minutemen follow pre revolutionary war. As you find Preston holed up in the museum of freedom. He takes a moment to admire the the minuteman statue outside Sanctuary. The old stronghold of the minutemen is Fort Independence. Even the Tricorn hat, the Generals uniform, prestons trench coat, and minuteman uniform is modeled after colonial army/militia uniforms. Which makes more sense as to why they use the US flag, but not the enclave flag. The blue minuteman flag is closer to a regiment flag. Just my two cents.

      Does the "S" stand for "sarcasm"? :P Seriously though, Fallout 4/Skyrim players actually do show Bethesda what they want from them with their dollars (or lack thereof). True, I doubt anyone from Bethesda will see my comment and I am only one out of millions of Fallout 4 players. But I at least hope to mirror what other disenfranchised fans of this series feel when they see content and business models like this. And, as a community, we really do influence what companies do, for better or worse. As I said above, I hope CC produces something in the future that interests me. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. Your fun is as good as mine.
      It's funny, I feel as if I could have summed up this point of view in two short sentences. How's that for sarcasm? ;)

    The "arrows" on the BOS armor are the ranks. The wolf insignias with a dagger might represent a special division or more likely a special op division. In real life the upside down dagger can be seen with the USAF Spec ops command(just missing the wings). So cross referencing and taken in the characteristics of wolves.
    This special division is comprised of air commandos, specializing in search & destroy missions as well as SAR(search and rescue) by dropping out of aircrafts. Symbolizing the wolves, they work and hunt in packs. They will not stop until their objective is complete. They are train in land nav, HALO(high altitude low opening) jumps, JTAC(joint terminal attack controller) ie direct precision air strikes, combat dive, special tactics, adv medical training, SERE(survival, evasion, resistance, escape), counter intel, psych ops., adv weaponry, and special warfare.
    Handpicked by the Elder himself from unique candidates who are the best in their squad or have the drive to become one. They will go through rigorous training courses all of which will take 3 years to complete. Each course is pass or fail, no in between. The instructors or cadres are battle hardened veterans who will make sure to test/push each candidates' limits and beyond. In case you're curious the washout rate is 90%, it is tough. But if you made it then you are the best that the BOS has to offer. Join today!

    About the Wolf and Dagger thing;
    - Dagger tattoos were common among Army and Marines soldier from WWII. The dagger symbolizes danger, ferocity and death. (Also, having a dagger tattoo meant for them "quickness".)
    -And Wolf tattoos are often used to symbolize determination, ruthlessness, ferocity, as well as "family", in the way of having "brothers" and "sisters" (as in an army //BoS) and defending eachother as a pack.
    So I guess this is a way to describe the Brotherhood as a pack of soldiers that are determined to get what they want, any ways possible (death, ferocity, etc..).
    I think it's neat. I can perfectly picture the Brotherhood having that kinda symbol, thinking it's badass and basically saying "Don't mess with us".

    First, in the Brotherhood the animals used to be. The elder lions had a lion
    and secondly, not all of it is a arrows, there are some sheld's that are used in the Brotherhood as mark the officer rank, and the other arrows are there because the firearms arrows are pointed in the direction of the shot and in the armor they are pointing on the palms and feet

    I personally really adore these new paint jobs, the Minutemen and Brotherhood paintjobs especially, as it allows me in my unmodded playthroughs to truly represent my faction of choice (usually Minutemen and occasionally Brotherhood), and the colors really really pop. My only critique on them is that when upgrading the Armor pieces one has to repaint the armor so as to have the paint appear.
    I've personally have loved the Creation Club thus far, I have everything but the Doom armor, but I do hope that now that we have these faction skins that we will begin seeing more and more weapon/ armor sets that get integrated into the level and spawn lists, the Handmade Shotgun was a good example of this with how each of it's legendary effects gave the weapon a unique skin, as well as more Dungeon like content ala the Tunnel Snakes Rule addon.

    The arrows are actually rank markings, in the Brotherhood of steel you have a shield and two marks to denote an NCO.

  • @d.t.e80
    @d.t.e80 6 років тому

    The arrows on the Brotherhood of Steel Armor indicate how to equip them in the proper way. The torse pieces have arrows pointing down, because you slide them on from above and it tells you which way is right side up. The arm pieces have up arrows, indicating they are to be slid on upwards and which side is right side up. Similar arrows are painted on laser weapons, instructing the user in the proper direction the parts should be facing. While the wolf logos on the metal armor have no tie in to BOS lore that I am aware of, it wouldn't be the first time the Brotherhood used animal symbolism because the Capitol Wasteland BOS was pretty big on the Lyons Pride as an elite BOS unit. While Lyons might have been a play on the Elder and Sentinels's last name, the Pride connects the association of a group of powerful lions, while also getting across how much respect and faith the Elder had in this group.

    A possible reasoning for the OLD world logo could be that the minutemen decided that they saw the merging into the 13 commonwealths as a bad idea and want to bring back the fifty states instead.

    The arrows on the BoS armor could be rank badges , at least the ones on the pauldrons. The lion/wolf thing could be a reference to the Lyon’s Pride. For the Minutemen, I think the armor has the Old World Flag because more than likely they’ve never seen the Old Glory or the Betsy Ross. It could also be a reference to the fact that the Old World Flag looks like the Betsy Ross Flag.

  • @Professional_Ghost

    About what you said about the Wolf symbol on the Brotherhood paint; I believe that it symbolizes a lone wolf or a Sole Survivor because you spend a large portion of the game more or less on your own with only one companion.
    And the part you said about the American flag on the Minutemen paint, may not necessarily represent America throughout time as a whole, but what the flag was meant to represent in the beginning of the founding of The United States. Freedom which is arguably quite similar to what Preston says the Minutemen are about: "The people of the Commonwealth banding together to protect ourselves and decide our own future."

    The in game minutemen are a reference to the real-life minutemen, so that's who they're inspired by. Hell, you even meet them in concord for the first time which has pretty historical significance for the real minutemen.
    They were a militia that made up a quarter of the colonies forces during the revolutionary War. Known for being quick to mobilize and defend their neighbor colonies from threats, hence where the name minutemen comes from.
    The revolutionary War also spawned the first iteration of the American flag we know today, with stars and stripes of the original 13 colonies. That's where the flag on the minutemen paint job comes from.
    In real-life the minutemen have basically turned into the American national guard still true to their origin, a state run militia.

Your Videos are Fun and entertaining to watch no matter how you chose to make them. Please keep making them how you want to and not how others tell you. After all, it is your Channel and should be enjoyable for you to make as well. If someone says they don't like how you did something in a vid. Tuff, they can go elsewhere or make Videos themselves. Your videos are always the high point in my day when watching UA-cam. Thank you so much for continuing making fallout my favorite game. :D :D :D

  • @hybrid_grizzly

    Well canonically the armor paints only come from the Sole Survivor, who was a soldier (or married to a soldier) and probably would have a greater attachment to the American Flag. Also it's nitpicky, but the rank insignia is set for the BoS paint and doesn't have alternatives for other Player Ranks (or for NPC ranks if they were made to spawn with the armor paint scheme) It has the Knight Captain insignia even though the player (unmodded) is an Initiate, then a Knight, then a Paladin, then a Sentinel, but never a Knight-Captain (BPAO adds ranks in between and power armor paints to match, and another mod lets you fight Maxson and become Elder)

Please don't crucify me😞😂😂

    • @heulboje21
      @heulboje21 6 років тому

      I have to disagree.
      Questbased Creations like the tunnel snakes are pretty good just because they add cool content (at least that is what I hope for future creations)
      Faction armor added by the cc on the other hand is pretty good. Most of the faction armor I have seen on nexus (and cough loverslab cough) was pretty bad and not even close to the cc content and as far as I'm aware I have not seen that many (good) weapon paint mods.
      Stuff like the Arcade or Donut thingy are great on the other hand because they are just something a little more out of the box.
      And for pip-boy (and, I guess, power armor) paints there are 2 different types.
      1. Cool additions like the nuca cola quantum pb
      2. Useless ***** like the onix thing
      So imo the cc is justified as long as it delivers unique content that is especially not the last type of creations I mentioned.
      (Hope that was in a sufficiently understandable english)
