  • There is bad news that we hear every day about the planet and different parts of the world. There is challenging news we hear from loved ones, clients, students, friends. What are healthy ways of honoring our own feelings when we hear bad news? And what are ways to work spiritually to empower people being affected by personal challenges today. For we are all being challenged to grow just like everything in nature is challenged to grow. When something in nature stops growing it dies.
How do we support those we care about during challenging times that lead to big transformations.
Join Renee Baribeau and Sandra Ingerman as they speak to their journeys on this topic and share their personal wisdom.

Thank you! I am a school counselor and the pity conversation really resonated with me! I work with children so you can imagine. I send love, light and protection through and around my school every day. Now I am going to add into my practice that when I look at the students in the staff in my building, I see their light and their strength and recognize that they are on their own journey. I believe I’ll be guided better to give them love and support if I could do this.

Last March, my father sat in my kitchen realizing he was in the last leg of his marathon against cancer. As a daughter and Registered Nurse, I stood in my light as well as his light. As he sat and cried with his head in his hands, I assured him that he no longer had to carry on with treatment and that he does not have to suffer for us. He then replied “what’s the alternative, to slowly die?” I responded “it’s not the way to look at it Dad, it’s about surrender”. Three weeks later he passed on in the comfort of his own home, pain free and surrounded by love. I was able to lead him to peace. I realized that in the worst of times we are still able to stand in one another’s light in the journey shared with those closest to us. Even in the darkest of times, light remains. Light leads the way.

I am so appreciative for your podcasts. They are so helpful and I sense and feel the light that you both bring forward - It is so beautiful and connective to what is in us. Your podcast today was extremely helpful with reminding me of how strong our light is within us and sharing positive compassion.

Funny, I was guided to listen to this podcast today and am so grateful I did! What a beautiful reframe on pity. The analogy of 1 Million people sending pity to someone during a hard time really hit me in terms of how it can weigh them down. I had never thought of pity from this perspective so thank you for bringing this to our attention. I loved Sandra’s statement “my job is to see them in their light” so beautiful and an important way to support the ones we love and our fellow humans!

I love your show Ladies, this topic was very interesting. Something I hadn't thought of pity being this heavy energy like a curse.
I will be more mindful when receiving bad news. Thanks again for all your wisdom 🙏❤️

Aha moment when Sandra talked about the energetic "prison" of pity. I take care of kids on the Autism spectrum and I realize that I need to be more responsible for how I view others, and to be more of an empowering influence. Thank you so much--a really powerful shift for me.

Thanks you ladies for the reminder to see everyone in their eternal light! It makes sense why sharing personal “bad” news may not always help someone. Perhaps I will now be more mindful of who I share it with and how.
My sister had cancer 2 years ago, then my mom had breast cancer last year and I lost my dad last month to a pulmonary embolism. Everyone keeps saying they feel so bad for us. I understand that they mean no harm but after listening to your show I will kindly tell them not to feel pity for my family. We would rather be held in light not darkness. Thank you dearest ones for your wisdom, love and support 🦋🤍🙏🏼

The recent loss of a young man by suicide has left me wondering just what to feel, grief, dispair for his family and loved ones is at times overwhelming. He had lost his mother just a few months before. His father and brother must be going through their own hell. The whole community is in shock and sorrow. I keep asking myself what can I do to help? Sending LOVE and prayers for their healing just doesn’t seem like enough. I will re-listen to this podcast and the one on Grief and perhaps find a better way to help. Again, Thank you both for your sharings. Namaste 💕

This topic was very timely for me. My family has received devastating news, and working through this challenge will be a long and difficult journey. We are getting condolences and, I suppose pity, from well meaning friends. Could you share some ideas about how I can most kindly and lovingly ask for more positive support from them without sounding ungrateful for their concern and love? Most won’t necessarily understand Shamanic ways. Some, possibly not even familiar with energy. Thank you both so much for your generous sharing of your wisdom and your love. Cay

"Pity is a curse." So true. As all projections (the "positive" too) enframe/ bottle/ contain the person inside. It isn't easy to move and grow and unfold under circumstances of projection. And to "bad" or "good" news: those categories are human-made, right? From the perspective of All Creation, which is the only one in full perspective beyond everything I could possibly grasp as a human, there seems to be only "It is." It requires me to trust.

I have quit jobs ( plural) because I can't deal with other people's problems, bad news, horrible luck, bad vibes etc. I can't even look at movies that has bad things happening to the characters. I shy away from friends because I can't deal with their down sides. The news is a proceed with caution for me. As a kid and adult I shielded my parents from any bad news. I admire phycologists because that's all the do all day, listen to problems.

This topic is an interesting one though I'm confused about it. I can see how pity can diminish how we view people (particularly strangers who we know nothing about) but if a friend or relative is going through a very difficult time, counselling and psychotherapy encourage us to acknowledge the suffering and 'stand alongside them' so they are not alone. Seeing them in the light could be perceived as a failure to empathise. Is it possible to empathise without pity?

Can you do a talk on intuition and deciphering between the ego and the souls voice? I'm also interested to know how you can tell what's imagination and what is spiritual guidance when practicing journeying. I'm going to buy more books to help my understanding but if anyone has some wisdom on this please share. Thankyou 💚
