From America, St. Louis. Its a dream to visit England and I love British shows. thank you for posting.
Randy Marler
I hope you enjoyed your visit ! :-)
The late Richard Briers played this monster of a human being to perfection IMHO. Fine supporting cast.
One of my favourite sitcoms. Great actors and great writing. It had so much depth
magnificent comedy, and Peter is proving himself to be a magnificent man with his superb work in animal welfare.
I feel the need to polish my school shoes while this is on - Sunday evenings in the eighties :D
Thank you for posting these videos. I had never seen or heard of this series before. Thanks to you, I have enjoyed the series enough to purchase the entire collection on DVD. Thanks again !!
I searched for this after watching Afterlife which has Penelope Wilton in. I had forgotten just how beautiful she was in this!
Richard Briers was a great comedy icon greatly missed
Richard Briers preferred Martin Bryce over Tom Good (The Good Life). Said so many times. I love both series and found both of the characters annoying but loveable... thanks to Briers.
He had the innate ability to make almost any character relatable.
This particular episode is my favorite of this series, because it reveals so much about Martin... and why Ann puts up with him.
From bewilderment at what he'd accomplished in saving the little girl, to preening and boasting ad nauseam until his besties could take no more, to his deeply personal admission to Ann (Penelope Wilton) about his insecurities. This series was more than a sitcom. It made us laugh AND think.
Perfect writing and fantastic actors, only 5 characters, it is all that was needed. This and Keeping up Appearance’s are up there with the best of British television.
Well said i agree completely
Saw this on Tele those days. We used to kill ourselves laughing. I watched it just now. Felt sad and happy. Sad cos I miss those days. We were young and free then. Happy cos we experienced those wonderful days when comedy was about seeing the funny side of real life.
Such a shame that sitcoms are no longer made.
has the speed been rectified? people saying its fast and sounds perfect to me
Just stating the obvious but this needs to be watched at 0.75 speed.
have you watched him in "the other one"? Great series.
.. Yes, excellent
love this programme and this episode except the end, I hate that woman who assumes it couldn't be him - typical shallow woman lol
one of the finest British UK sit coms ever made. The writing and acting is pure class.
Yes, it's speed up for some reason, but easily rectified by playing it at 0.75 the normal speed...
cool - I never knew you could do that - thank you :) it is funny when it goes to normal speed - they sound too slow then lol
It somehow reduces the likelihood of the copyright brigade from deleting it - some sitcoms are posted in little boxes within the UA-cam box itself!
the laugh at 14:24 so funny . Brilliant cast
There was a spark between Paul and Anne Yet they didnt act on it as it would have devastated Martin Losing his wife and His Friend
Marvellous
like how they portray Howard and Hilda as being slightly less intelligent as Paul and Anne as they are more tolerant for that bit longer in pub
Shades of Hancock.
.. Definitely, Briers said that if Hancock was still alive, this would be perfect for him
great programme - why is it played at a faster pace ?
thank you . love 11:45 :D
It's blurry?
Martin and Anne Make a a Great Couple wonder what the Age Difference is
12 years in real life
nice joke about richard attenborough.penelope was starring in his movie cry freedom around this time.
17:23 LOL
play 9:21 at 0.25 speed !! bet you laugh lol
funny episode but awful ending :(
Awful ending by a really horrible woman . Should have ended with little girl coming up to him a kissing cheek. Rather than mean spirited comment because he isn't an athletic type. Been an emotional end. It gave justice for Martin going on .
2:55 ..but you can't swim! I know, but evidently I can ! HAHA
Kismet, destiny call it what you like.... Hilarious 😂
It's a shame they filmed these in winter.
