    Good video. I found that the initial diagnosis was the cancel cam, and it wasn't, but those springs. I found the broken springs sitting on top of the steering columns bearings and needed a magnet to fish them out. The steering wheel puller and that spring plate tool were about $30 total at the auto parts store. Don't know how you can do this one handed, but great job. Mine was a 1994 k 1500 and there is a cover plate over the lock ring clip that was a real bear to get out.

    I just wanted to get a better look at the components behind the lock plate since my hazard switch is missing and I was curious how everything went together, but since my turn signals also don't cancel (it never bugged me much) maybe i'll knock that out when I get the chance. Thanks for the video!

    To the tune of Dr. Dre Nuthin' but a "G" Thang, "I cancelled the turn but my blinker kept blinking".

    Gotta check mine. I think my whole canceler broke in the steering wheel. I can hear plastic when turn the wheel and it locks up my steering wheel while I turn and the signal will turn on automatically when the wheel is slightly turned

      I think there is a little prong that sticks down off the horntop that hits the springs. at least thats what I remember. i'm looking at doing this job soon thats why Im looking at these videos again.

    My situation is different, but can't really search it because everytime I try to I get forum posts on turn signals not blinking and so on. My canceling can works to well! When I put left turn signal, the slightest movement to the left and it cancels, right works like its supposed to. Any ideas?

    • @daltonandrew168
      @daltonandrew168 6 років тому +1

      The fn bill your spring might b rusted together, so its extremely tight and has no tension, so when u do left movents it pulls the spring and cancels ur signal

      I realize it's been 4 years since your post... Did you check to make sure your steering wheel was straight? If yes, the steering wheel may have been straight, but the front end's alignment was not (and the steering wheel's position was merely trying to compensate from an "appearance" standpoint). I had a similar scenario with my '65 C-10... the slightest Left and it cancelled, while Right turns were fine. Even though my wheel was installed straight, it was actually a slight front-end alignment issue.

    • @modeljetjuggernaut4864
      @modeljetjuggernaut4864 5 років тому

      If you haven't figured it out by now, you need a locking plate puller. It pushes the plate back exposing the ring. Then you gotta work it loose with a screwdriver

    • @TheAmericanUhate

      Hit it with your purse next time.

    • @MauriceandDonnie
      @MauriceandDonnie 3 роки тому

      @@modeljetjuggernaut4864 The U shaped tool presses the plate back about 1/4", then you turn the clip ring so the split is at the top where you can see it, then press a very sharp pointed tool into the clip ring with your left hand while having a flat screwdriver in your right to slide it out of the groove and go all around to slide it out towards you using the flat screwdriver.
