    I have decided I really don’t want to spend so much on my BMW M340i, a car that sits in my garage for five days a week and one in which I almost never use all the performance! I test drove the Civic Advance for four hours and found the seats much more comfortable than the cardboard like ones in the BMW. Ideally I would have liked more black trim on the Advance but not the all-black wheels (of the Sport). I have ordered Crystal blue with Nordic silver mirror caps, Elegance mats and Premium White Illumination Pack incl. illuminated tread plates and puddle lights. I thought the car was effortless pulling away from standstill (and really not that much slower than my M340i). Obviously, at high 80mph+ speeds the BMW’s performance was more sparkling. The Honda felt to be a truly well designed and engineered vehicle with handling genuinely very close to that of my BMW (a real compliment bearing in mind the Honda is FWD!) and the ride was, if anything, slightly better than my BMW in Comfort mode. I will admit that road noise was slightly higher than in my BMW but, overall, for a car that is £15,000 cheaper than my BMW was, I was truly impressed. My only real criticism was the infotainment screen being angled slightly away from the driver (why??) and the doors not being fully trimmed on the interior B-pillars (although, nor are Audi A3s and Mercedes A-Class). My Advance is supposed to be delivered in March 2023 just in time for the new English registration plate.
    Addendum… I’ve just been told blue AND red cars will not be delivered in England until late May / early June 2023!

    Pilotsport contact 4S is a very good tyre for spirited driving. But is very noisy on highway speeds (100kmph+). So for regular highway commuters, this might be annoying. Swapping to a silent tyre will make this a fantastic daily driver, as the powertrain is super quiet at all speeds.

I was driving the car in the town 50 to 60km/h and also on the highway 130 to 150km/h. Comparing to my 6 years old Volvo V40 2,0 much more quiet responsive and comfortable. When I was sitting on the back seat I only noticed the noise from tyres. But there was not any cover on the trunk. I already ordered Sport in white colour. If I can make one small request alongside this, regarding consumption, it would be interesting to see it at higher speeds, 120-140 if it's allowed in that highway area you're using for test driving.
      I know the engine drives the wheels between ~80-120 km/h, after that it's back to electric, but the engine still runs.
      The question is, which speed (and which power source) is more fuel efficient on the highway?

    I tried the Advance version and it was very noisy from 40 km/h. I think it is not about the volume of the noise but the "type" of noise : it's like pressure on ears. I found much more supportable with glasses opened as this pressure disappear. This civic is a great car but with great defaults like : tall smartphones don't fit in the charger space, Android Auto with wire (USB-A, in 2022-2023...),a lot of little things that are annoying in the daylife. The visibility is correct, not that good. Try the Jazz/ Fit and you will see what is a good visibility with a very large windshield. But the driving sensations are crazy.

      @@cstrx11 That's true if it's really the case.
      I also meant that this engine design is quite new and complex with many more parts.

    • @cstrx11
      @cstrx11 Рік тому +3

      @@Humanaut. I don't think there will be a lot of problems with the engine itself. It's a relatively simple ICE engine, no turbo, no compressor, no intercooler, no double-mass flywheel. The only weak point can be the direct injection, but the new Honda engines are not prone to carbon buildup.
      Electric motors don't break, the power electronics can go bad, but Honda has enough experience in that area already.
      As for the battery... that a different topic. I don't think it will still be properly working after 200.000kms. Replacing it can cost a lot, but we will see. Usually there is a lot of reserved battery power in cars, so the degradation is not that obvious, but after a lot of driven kms. However, if you drive long distances the battery will not be used. But in that case, it doesn't even worth it buying a hybrid to be honest.

      @@cstrx11 Thanks a lot for your detailed response!
      That's good to know.
      And as for the battery, at least it's relatively small and as it isn't even really used to power the car but basically just to temporarily store the energy to release it in a more efficient manner i don't think the degradation is as impactful as in an EV that actually runs on battery power alone. The upside to this small battery is that it's at least a lot less expensive to replace than an actual pure EV battery pack.
      I was really just looking for a robust car that can run over many years and as many kilometers as possible.

    Too much action on the touchscreen, searching for the route, while you’re driving - totally NOT recommended! You can pull over and set the route, then you can drive safely.
    Otherwise, a very good car, well optimized for city and mixed traffic. On the highway the consumption is bigger not only with this car, but with all cars (maybe, exceptind those with diesel engines, but they are not suitable for city traffic). I have the 10th generation Honda Civic, Sport Plus (MT) and I’m very happy to drive it (since 2019). But, in city traffic the consumption is HUGE and the pleasure of driving tends to 0. The 10th generation Honda Civic is a car designed for highways and curvy roads, while the 11th generation is a good compromise. The 11th generation has a way better driver’s seat (much more comfortable and much more customizable for the driver’s anatomy). The rear mirror could be bigger. I would consider buying this car, because the traffic conditions in Romania are more suitable for HEVs rather than standard ICEs.

      Same with illumination accessories.
      For many years that's how Honda was working, so select car trim and accessories separately. Most (if not all) accessories were put on by dealer when the car arrives.

    I have gone this summer on vacation fully loaded car with 4 persons, with ac always on, drove 1000+kms highway and got 5.7l avg with avg speed of 135km/h, some times 150km/h / 160kms/h
    Obviously in pure city, stop and go i will do 7,5l/100km while this on the other hand will do like 4,5/5l.

    Hello guys, I am interested in this car and I have a question: what's about a trip in mountain, four people on board? I have not found anything on the web about it... How much could be the consumption and how is the torque in comparison to a 1700 or 2000 turbodiesel? Beside, I have another question. All this battery recharging cycles may compromise the duration of the battery in the years? Thank you 🙂

    • @actionreplay8235
      @actionreplay8235 Рік тому +2

      Battery comes with 8 years warranty (UK) upto 70% life. As all battery devices it will reduce over time.

    • @SOMEONE-ME
      @SOMEONE-ME Рік тому +4

      In Honda current doesn't go through battery all the time- it goes directly to electric motor. Only surplus of energy goes to battery, but in also special way, so battery is never overcharged or discharged very low. I don't think first 10 years should worry you.

    • @sorinpirtea2306
      @sorinpirtea2306 Місяць тому

      I think that the car’s body will go down faster than the battery over years… Uphill you will have a bigger consumption and downhill you will go most of the time in electric and hybrid modes, depends of the angle of the road and of the traffic conditions (probably you would go most of the time in electric mode, as with an EV). The torque is 315 Nm (electric!); my 10th gen. Civic has a 240 Nm torque and is not a “lazy” car.

    My 2021 e Skyactiv x Mazda 3 will easily get less than 4.5L per 100kms on the motorway at say 115 kmph so you don't need a hybrid to get good fuel economy. I think this Honda is better suited to urban driving for good consumption.

    • @SOMEONE-ME
      @SOMEONE-ME Рік тому +3

      This is well known fact and no one negates it. How much does Mazda Skyactiv X use in city :) ? Depending where you want to drive most you can choose what suits you more. It's not just about fuel consumption but overall driving experience. Both Toyota na Honda are more dynamic and give you very good instant power in moments when you mostly need it (like turbo engines, but without turbo engine relatively bad reliability).

    • @sorinpirtea2306
      @sorinpirtea2306 Місяць тому +1

      In city traffic conditions the consumption with an ICE is bigger than with a HEV, because the brakes does not put back your fuel in the tank as with the electric power in a HEV’s battery. 😊
