    Thanks for sharing your test and sharing the measurements. I have made some arrows from 5/16 and 3/8 dia dowels from Home Depot, feathers, pine resin, and nylon dental floss. Made some field points from a barrel strap. I may spring for a proper bow like a Samick Sage, but made a couple from flattening 3/4 pvc pipe that work alright.

    I’m most surprised with the bone and gar points. I think you’re right about the trade point’s extra weight being a factor.👍

      Thanks! I actually expected a little better on the gar scale but I think my transition wasn’t quite as perfect as I normally try to make them

    What was the distance to the carcass? How do you maintain accuracy without a consistent anchor point on short draw bows? Thanks!

    • @primitivewildernesssurviva648
      @primitivewildernesssurviva648  5 місяців тому +1

      Roughly 10 yards. I don’t necessarily have an anchor point but I release the second my thumb makes contact with my cheek so that I maintain consistency

    I'll have to show this to my friends. They tell me stone points will never work🤣obviously they do. Btw, I saw you on Alone the beast. I love how you told about your Cherokee grandmother. You did great out there 👊

    That's my favourite type of bow..... would you be able to share the approximate dimensions of the bow .... especially the width and thickness of the limbs

    • @primitivewildernesssurviva648
      @primitivewildernesssurviva648  5 місяців тому +1

      It’s roughly 1.25 inch wide at the handle and tapers to around .75” wide at the tips. Those are approximate, I’d need to measure again to know for sure. I’m not sure on the thickness
      Thanks!

    I'm just amazed at how little pull there is to that bow. Is that like 12 inches of draw on that thing?

    • @JuanOspina-p8y
      @JuanOspina-p8y 5 місяців тому

      The lemon wood could still be useful, I would like the Osage but it is difficult, I would have to use another wood like the one you told me about, the lemon tree.

    Excellent video and presentation. Your defiantly well armed with this bow and any of these arrows.
    I'm just not sure about calling this a cherokee bow, I make primitive bows myself and I was under the impression cherokee used a long bow, and the bow here is more a planes bow.
    If I'm wrong it'd be interesting to know if this tribe did employ a short bow as well...
    Nice shooting

    • @primitivewildernesssurviva648
      @primitivewildernesssurviva648  5 місяців тому +2

      It’s a short Cherokee bow, they were sometimes as short as 42”
      It has the rectangular cross section, mostly parallel limbs, bend through the handle and diamond nocks.
      Most Cherokee bows were longer but they still made some shorter ones

    Why is it that everyone keeps copying my boy primitive pathways. He jsut uploaded a penetration test and then this one comes out within a day of his? He covered these topics over the years. I saw one where Gayboy Ryan Gill even copied the title of one of his penetration test videos. His penetration tests were pathetic by the way.

      You're a bit unhinged. I'd wager that all three of the people you mentioned have sat at the same fire or been to shoots/builds. I see this fella and Ryan Gill comment on each others content on Facebook often. Hopefully that made you feel better though.

      @BigDaddyBangBang hey ! I knew I’d get a comment like this, haha
      I’ve been planning this video for a while and had this deer on ice while making the arrows for this video. I saw that Billy posted a very similar video while I was working on this one and was a little sad for that reason but was literally elbow deep in making this video. They are not the same at all though. Totally different bows and mine have much different arrows. Have a good one Billy and keep making new content, I’ve been enjoying it. Don’t try to make everyone else into competition though, it’s not a good look
