Thanks for sharing your test and sharing the measurements. I have made some arrows from 5/16 and 3/8 dia dowels from Home Depot, feathers, pine resin, and nylon dental floss. Made some field points from a barrel strap. I may spring for a proper bow like a Samick Sage, but made a couple from flattening 3/4 pvc pipe that work alright.

I’ve read that some Native American people caught these and roasted them, then ground them into a powder and made a porridge from them and it was a very rich source of nutrition. Personally I’d be probably close to starving myself before I would try them just because I can’t stand bugs, and maybe if I ate them the porridge would be most appealing to me, like cream of wheat. Or maybe I could grind them after cooking and make a pattie with them and roast that up with some spicy sauce or whatever. Like veggies burger but with uh, meat. I would be doing a lot of fishing in a survival situation. Mesquite beans (pods) are far more appealing to me and less likely to carry a tapeworm. Now that I’ve tasted and enjoyed. Nuts and seeds are delicious to me so I’m more prone to eating them. Absolutely nothing against you, you’re right that they’re a good source of protein if cooked well but our own minds are still a big thing to get over in a survival diet. I grew up eating stuff like cow tongue, brains and souse made from internal organs and gelatin which my father and mother made, since they are from Czechoslovakia and I grew up eating much the same way. Lots of vinegary salads, vegetables and organ meats, liver etc. Very tasty and healthy, I rarely got sick until my late 40’s when Covid was unleashed upon us.

Excellent video and presentation. Your defiantly well armed with this bow and any of these arrows. I'm just not sure about calling this a cherokee bow, I make primitive bows myself and I was under the impression cherokee used a long bow, and the bow here is more a planes bow. If I'm wrong it'd be interesting to know if this tribe did employ a short bow as well... Nice shooting

They are not the same at all though. Totally different bows and mine have much different arrows. Have a good one Billy and keep making new content, I’ve been enjoying it.
