I can't believe we FINALLY have a dub for Given!!! When I released my covers a year and a half ago, I genuinely thought we would never get a dub. It seemed too niche. Too important to only a specific community I'm proud to be part of. On my videos I received message after message expressing how much y'all hoped that I would be Mafuyu one day. Honestly, I just wanted the chance to audition for the show and would have been happy to be part of it in any way.
So imagine my surprise when I started recording on it as Mafuyu earlier this year! Even now, I keep asking myself, "Is this real? Did this actually happen? Is there REALLY a dub?!?!"
Thank you all so much for your support and your kindness. After watching the movie, I felt like this song represented Mafuyu having actually processed his past with Yuki to some level, enough to start writing lyrics about the people around him. About the rocky relationship between Akihiko and Ugetsu, and how our closeness with people can shift in so many different ways as time passes, as the seasons change.
I hope you enjoy my adaptation of Yoru Ga Akeru. Just like Mafuyu, I think it's important that, even when things seem bleak, we always keep in mind no matter how dark the night, the dawn always breaks.

“When spring comes then we bloom, when fall comes then we wither” I see what you did there putting Akihiko’s figure with Haruki in the first phrase then following up to Akihiko with Ugetsu’s in the second. Pure genius!😭

I think what’s so beautiful about this song and the first one Mafuyu writes is that you can see his journey to figuring out how to survive and cope with the immeasurable loss he feels after Yuki’s tragic and untimely death. And it’s beautiful to see him figure out how to find Hope again. As well as find a way to acknowledge that he will always love Yuki, but now it’s time for him to move on and live his life again. A journey I can’t even begin to imagine. The amount of pain.. ugh. It’s very beautifully written and I think very close to a real-life experience of coming to terms with loss.
Its a crime to be robbed off of this. My gosh.

Given is one of my favorite anime’s, and I have been researching a lot about voice actors, especially in popular anime’s like my hero academia and omg I can not express how shocked I was when I found out you also voice acted mafuyu, good job!
