She sounds identical to her Japanese version its crazy.
my first thought was "omg kudos to the va for being so talented in japanese AND english" but as it turns out its "omg kudos to the eng va for being just as talented to the jp va"
Yeah. Not gonna lie. I thought it was the same person singing both versions 😅. The person who casted Kyle McNeil to play Belle did a great job.
Do you know the anime name?
Belle
No, her voice never trembles or falters, the japanese version is much more emotional, this one is only very powerful, which isn't at all the heroine's character, by the way. I prefer the french version, it's way superior and totally matched Suzu's character.
Fun fact, freckles are apparently considered a cosmetic flaw in many East Asian cultures. I was a little confused why a side character in this movie had a throwaway line about how Bell was pretty in spite of her freckles. With that piece of context I now understand that the freckles becoming a part of her iconic look was supposed to be a bit counter-culture.
Freckles are a respect for "Anne of Green Gables"
ua-cam.com/play/PLZj8Ng7r6i0xGAglZgdtpT_1VXwGzcaO4.html
@@tararebaable or perhaps theyre freckles
This is true, i taught english in Asia and was teaching kids words for how we describe people (showing pictures of people with blonde hair, muscular or curvy bodies, wrinkles, etc).
I brought up a photo of a fiery redhead with freckles all over her face and they reacted like it was a disease -- i stopped and told them that this is normal and some people find freckles really beautiful!
My sister was also confused by this when we saw the film, and she was pretty unimpressed when I told her why. Understandable, since she has freckles, lol.
Freckles are like kisses from the Sun, I refuse to accept them as a flaw in any capacity.
The storyline itself isn’t what hits you so hard. It’s the struggle and connection of the characters. I really do love this movie and the music in it.
Yeah. It's why I felt so strong with them. The struggles they went through. The paths and hardships from accepting death, letting someone go, trusting in a person. All those things we faced. I am disappointed in the love part that was dropped but the characters and their struggles of each one hit me so hard. That's what I loved. The connection with them.
It hits me though
I also think that the movie might critizise how child abuse is normalized. I don't think Japan has Child Protective Services, too.
It's will written tho, but many dislikes it for being far from what they expected. Many thought it will be a romantic thingky which is not bc the anime didn't focus on lovestory but on obstacles that the main character experience. TBH I got confused so much bc it though it's gonna be like "Beauty and beast" but it's not. They just get the main idea and totally changed the whole plot and setting and that's what makes it unique ✨. But this anime has so many messages and portrays real life obstacles ; like the app, people uses it to escape reality; the Child Abuse which is a message to Japan bc they neglected that issue; and belle for having longtime sadness, depression, trauma bc she lost her mother and the reason she give up her talent and keeping away her dad and childhood friend bc she thought it's for the best . She lost half her childhood and to become unhappy bc of sorrows.

Some people don't like the movie, because the story is a bit weak, but really it is was about the music. If you let the music carry it, it is very emotional. Worrying about how the virtual world actually works just lessens the enjoyment.
For me it actually fell VERY flat in the real-world segments, to the point where at a few sections I actually checked my watch to see where we were on runtime, which I normally never do. The virtual sequences though I was too visually captivated to overthink it, aside from the Justice guy, he did pull me out of the immersion pretty much every time he was on screen.
That said, the music is simply beautiful, during a couple of these songs I felt the emotions very strongly. Just wish the whole movie was able to grip me like that, sadly not enough songs to fill the gaps.
To be fair, the story is fucking terrible. But the music is a straight up 10/10.
I can get over them not explaining how the virtual reality works, but I feel like the child abuse narrative was not appropriately addressed. I didn’t like it going in that direction at all but they should have at least shown them getting actual help. It was irresponsible writing about a serious topic.
@@katelynmiller8866 Yeah! We never even find out what happens to them.
Yeah I didn’t like the story but I still told all my friends to go watch it in theatres, because the visuals and sound track are so good that it needs to be seen in the theatre.

Yes. Can't agree more.
Right? They did there homework. The singing and story telling. And the art of this movie.
Disney right now is jealous. Wa ha ha ha.
I love this movie. I know so many people have a lot of negative thoughts about it but to me, it was still enchanting, beautiful, and the story just made sense to me. I love it with all my heart and I cried very hard watching it. Favorite movie now.

Both english and japanese versions are beautiful 🥰🥰🥰😭😭🤧

日本語バージョンと声や歌い方、全体的な雰囲気が似てるから、聞き馴染みがあって良いね。
The soundtrack definitely makes this movie. I wish It had better pacing and less jump cuts, but the overall story and the art kinda make up for it.
Same! The art and music is what makes it beautiful, if it wasn’t for that it would honestly be a really inconsistent incomprehensible story. I wish they didn’t go with the whole “it’s a romance story but in a different way” plot twist.
Not gonna lie- holding out hope for an extended version that smooths out the story a bit...
My only real complaint is the resolution between her and her dad being a quick text conversation like girl if you don’t physically go get your dad to confront the man beating his kids.
It is so incredibly difficult to translate lyrics, have them make sense, and carry the same tonality... but I think they do a pretty decent job. Very interesting to hear the stylistic changes in singers, you can definitely hear where Kylie McNeil chooses to use a head-chest mix in parts where the original singer flips entirely to head voice. You can hear it at 4:39 on sing, def think Kylie is using a mix here where the original singer is in head voice.
Other singers, what do you think? Am I talking crazy?
I'm no singer, but I'm close to a few, married into a musician family, and I'm listening to these differences myself. I've been trying to pick a favorite version of these songs between Kylie and Kaho, specifically to decide which version to see in theaters in a few weeks, but I'm having a hard time figuring out which versions carry the most weight because each singer's interpretation and performance is so close and yet so unique to her.
I may see both, but trying to decide where to start!
@Jablink The IMAX near me is only screening the Japanese version with subtitles, so that's the version we're going with. Truly, it was Kaho's renditions of 心のそばに and はなればなれの君へ that sealed the deal for me. I look forward to seeing the English and French versions as well since I'm fortunate enough to mostly speak those languages too (the French hasn't been used in a decade so it's incredibly rusty... on the list to fix soon, and I truly think this movie will help!).
Anyway, I really lucked out with the translations for this movie since I speak at least a little of all of them, so I look forward to comparing all of them once I'm done. Bonus that I get to work on those languages at the same time.
I’ve been waiting to hear the English version just to hear these differences! There are moments especially at the end when listening to Japanese where I was thinking, oh for the US they’re going to make the poor actress belt her face off. Both versions are so beautiful though
@@Kekoa552 I did a quick read of the differences to make my decision, and IMAX comes down to a bigger screen with a heightened audio experience. Considering that this movie is all about the beautiful visuals and soundtrack, it seemed like a no-brainer to pick the IMAX version.
Translating songs and having them still work is soooo hard! I hear what you're saying about 4:39, tone wise I think I hear Kylie keeping a lot of the sound in her chest, compared to how she sings the final note in the song. I still prefer the tone of Kaho Nakamura (Japanese voice actress) but for an American audience Kylie's voice actually works better in my opinion.
She sounds like a Disney princess, this is perfect casting
I'm not sure that is a compliment. 😉 The farther away from Disney it is the better in my op. I prefer japanese anime over the bland Disney movies.
They all looks and sound the same.
@@Ebhen1 This is by no means me defending Disney, but, as a huge entertainment corporation, Disney generally does a pretty good job at securing people who are actually good at singing for their musical numbers (which at Disney's size, is a very bare-minimum accomplishment and not particularly impressive). While Disney is a questionable company (I will be the first in the queue to admit that), what's not questionable is the talent of the people singing in their movies. Also, people often say the exact same thing about Japanese anime that you are saying to complain about Disney. And anyway, Belle indeed does look like a Disney princess, eye proportions and everything; it is almost uncanny.
@@romanr.301 That is true. The songs and the singers are often really good.

Lalalai, lalalai
When our heartbeats collide
I won't mind
In a place we've never been before
I wanna know who you are
I wanna know it all
The moment that life hits you
You can't avoid the issue
You are disconnected from the world
You though you were part of
Stand up, the party's over here
Come on, come all
Jumping into the fire
Step in, you are whatever you wanna be
You are free
Just take all of us are
Dance away a world
You never loved from the start
It's our ride to the future,
Are you ready to depart?
Lalalai, lalalai
When our heartbeats collide
I won't mind
In a place we've never been before
I'm reaching out for the moon
And stars beyond it
Lalalai, lalalai
Is it you I will find?
Though i feel left behind sometimes
When you close the door
We didn't waste our time here
It's now and never
But now that you come
I have to move on
Seems like everyone,
Just smile staring at the sun
But what about me?
Tell me how I will know
Where I should go?
Oh gales, you sing and guide me!
I walk alone,
There's more to life I have to know
It's just me,
Lost so far away from home,
Alone I shut myself in
Still the winds howl, they call
And their voices lead me,
Gales of song,
Guide me through the storm
Let the melody lift me high
I'll be me
It's easy to push me away from you
It isn't hard
Yes, I know that's what you'll say
It's what you have told yourself
Over and over again, in darkness
You try to hold back all the thoughts
Lend me your voice
Let me see your face, let me start
To show you what I see
Bring me close
Let me come and sit by the fire
Just let me come close
To your heart
Light glimmers in a flower
Like jewels in a dream
The sky breathes life,
Love to everything
Come back to me
And stay by my side
I feel my heart shake
Come, ease this ache
I'm standing over here,
Reaching for you
A million miles away
Come back and stay
Sing let your heart soar!
Sing forever!
Sad and so happy!
Feelings flow over,
Our world is full of all kinds of colors
Closing my eyes
I still can see the stars
Shine in the sky
Sing in their harmony
Flowers, they're blooming,
Oh it's beautiful
Sing this song, I won't stop now
Sing in through,
I love you
The voice carries on

I too have lost someone and something, and felt all of Suzu’s anxiety attacks very relatable. The way anxiety can build up and hit out of nowhere. The way it can manifest into loss of voice, stomachaches/vomiting, or simply “crying all the time”. How everyone secretly wants to be the center of attention at all times; but when we are truly raw and vulnerable, the vultures swoop in and nitpick. I think this movie shows mental health in a beautiful manner. I love how it wasn’t a classic princess love story and how the filmmakers made it in touch with today’s age of social media and virtual reality. I hope everyone knows that they are loved and valued and respected and supported even with all their “flaws” or past mistakes. Go watch Belle. 10/10 movie~

(SPOILERS) SPOILERS!
This movie was beautiful and the music was fantastic. It's sad they didn't do much with the plot. There were a lot of scenes that just felt like they didn't match the movie or dragged on way too long. A lot of them could've been cut out without affecting the story at all. The child abuse at the end was like a slap in the face and completely threw off the flow of the movie. It felt like they wanted Shinobu to be the beast but changed directions because it would be too cliche or something. It would've been cliche but I would've rathered that plot line than what we got. It's like they relied on the shock factor of abuse itself rather than developing a character that you never would've guessed was being abused. This is just my opinion so don't attack me. Overall I loved the movie and will watch again, several times.
Your assessment is correct. Even in Japan, people say that Hosoda should not be allowed to write the script.
i feel like the story itself isnt weak, just the way they told it. The whole it was actually child abuse the whole time thing seems like they were trying to make a sort of contrast with real world/fantasy world. They made it seem like it was a fairytale romance when the truth was far from that. By the end, I was hugely unsatisfied for the weird pacing and storytelling, lack of plot focus on Suzu's life, and the way the child abuse situation was dealt (just seemed too easy?).
Same, I understood the whole scars thing on his character and thought that Shinobu was Kei being that Shinobu was the one getting abused
Honestly I sort of agree, I thought it would've been Shinobu as the beast with the way the start of the movie was set up and I kept thinking it would be him until the castle scene with Kei's brothers AS. The ending felt rushed to me and so did the character development :( the music completely made up for it though like wowoow! (also Ruka's confession scene was just

the animation of this movie is truly outstanding, I don't think I can say so for the story though. It wasn't bad, but some things just didn't make sense it felt kind of rushed. For example, I felt like the film should have told more about Suzu's life and story other then focus more on "Belle" and the "Beast". The child abuse part was just out of nowhere, and I thought it was going to be a love story between the two for how they made it seem, but in reality the beast was just some kid with his brother. I wished the beast was Shinobu, so at least it would make a bit more sense on how Shinobu suddenly found out Suzu was Belle, and they could have possibly ended up together but lol, in the end it wasn't a terrible film the story could have been better though. (This is just my opinion, please no hate I do not speak for everyone.)
The movie is terrifically bad. Possibly the worst japanese animated film ever made. I cannot believe all the positive reviews its getting.
Personally, I'll hate if the twist is that Shinobu was actually the Beast. Imagine how cheap it is that despite of billions of users, this one mysterious user is actually your childhood friend from the same rural town
I partially agree, the child abuse kinda fit the "irl" theme of overcoming trauma, but could've been done better. Personally, I didn't feel like it was resolved. The older brother (whose name I forgot) said no matter what was said or done to the dad nothing ever changed and they never showed any resolution to the abuse. I would've liked the story to be more romance centered, but being different isn't inherently bad, but the execution of it could've been better.
Yeah I would've love if it was about finding your true identity in the world instead of a modern like beauty and the beast lol
@@aeroga2383 Plotwise, I agree that it was very subpar. The animation and music was so good that it saved it for me though.
i cant be the only one that cried when hearing this
it feels good to find this medley again after some few years😫
I saw this movie last night and it was phenomenal. Its crazy to think that me and my friend were the only ones in the theater
THIS IS AMAZING IN ENGLISH AND JAPANESE BROO AND HER VOICE SOUNDS LIKE THE JAPANESE VERSION TOO
I saw this movie in a theater with a shitty sound system, so I thought the music was good enough. But hearing it now on my home stereo is just breathtaking!
she just sounds like the original, its so beautiful! i even cried on the part where everyone sang with belle. the best movie ive ever watched!
Man... her voice is making my eyes sweat and that's when I haven't watched the film yet! I was just listening to this first! Hot damn the singer is incredibly talented
This melody is good that I’ve watched it at least 10 times in a row already and I can’t wait for the English version to come out. 😊
This is really good, pretty much matches the Japanese lyrics.
I saw this movie on Tuesday with my friend in dub and since then I've been obsessed with U and I'm so glad its on Spotify
idk, but every time i hear gales of song it made me feel emotional.🥹
The English, French and Japanese version of this song are all so awesome.
I’m feeling the original version of “U” more but all the rest of the songs… wow! Already have the original OST on the way; will be looking out for the dub too! 🤩
the english singer can sing quite like the japanese singer does with the same emotions and feelings amazing
I loved the story, the music. This film was a masterpiece. Moved me to tears.❤
I really hope there's gonna be an English version to this soundtrack cause I am obsessed
英語版カッコよすぎる!!!
So excited for when this relates in America. It sounds and looks breathtaking!
Suzu , suzu the way shinobu called her in japanese va always in my head 😂 it’s ridiculously good
Boy, oh boy! Kylie's voice is terrific beautiful and angelic 💜
It's the first time (for me) that an English dubbing surpasses or comes close to the mastery of the original voice in an anime.
Please make this soundtrack available. I've heard the Japanese version so much, now let me hear the English version!!!!
