Like many of you, I cried my face off when I saw the part of the show when this song plays. It hit me hard. (spoiler alert) Mafuyu is paralyzed with fear, with indecision, up until this exact moment. A moment when his timid, shy, terrified self drags out the truth of his feelings center stage and yells them out at the top of his lungs.
I've found myself in that same timid, shy, terrified state more often than I'd like to admit in my life, especially when I was younger, and seeing Mafuyu find that power and scream it out gave me so much hope. It's easy to be paralyzed by indecision, and it's hard to be brave and share the truth with the world. Heck, it's hard to even identify how you feel sometimes. But when I saw Mafuyu shout out his complex torrent of feelings in this incredible song, it made me feel like I could, too.
I hope you enjoy my cover of Fuyu no Hanashi, and may it give you the same strength that Mafuyu gave me.

I started to cry at "What's left for me in this city without the love I've known". It's such a heartbreaking part of the song and I think you sang it so well and the scream just shook me to my core

holy shit the fact that this cover was sung by the guy who would eventually play Mafuyu in the eng dub is insane. Too bad they couldn’t use his actual voice for the performance. This video is proof that he wouldve killed it!!
i recently watched this anime and was sad that the song scene wasn't subbed for the dub. finding out now, that this cover existed before Brandon was cast, only to end with the song not being dubbed in the show is disappointing. You did great Brandon, i loved your dub for the show and this cover, i wish it could've made it into the anime.

Given is one of my favourite shows and the music just hits right in the heart. Hearing the songs in English really reflecting on the lyrics made me emotional and ball my eyes out, really feeling Mafuyu's loss and pain. Good job Brandon 🧡

Even the official CD they released down't match the raw power of the anime debut performance. This is not a song to be sung prettily, it's a song to be wrenched out of the throat of a heartbroken kid finally unloading his repressed emotional baggage after far too long, and you do an admirable job of capturing that, especially on the scream.

That’s all I can say. You captured the emotions of that intense scene so perfectly, and you can clearly see it in the infamous “AHHHHHHH”. This is probably the best English cover I can find. Not only did you project the vocals and clearly deliver the lyrics , but you also delivered it in the most dramatic way possible ( dramatic - as in a GOOD kind of dramatic ). On top of that , the video is visually pleasing to the eye , it makes it all the more emotional to visualize the moment. Well done!

I was worried that the scream wouldn’t be done right, but you KILLED IT! The same hurt and release filled it as it did with the original. I think it’s the most important part of the song, and you absolutely did it justice. I was in tears by the end.

Literally just found out there's a dub. I synced up this song and the dub during Mafuyu's song, there is literally no good excuse as to why they could not use this song in the anime. It syncs up perfectly and I'm fully convinced that they either did not want to pay him for the song to be incorporated into the anime or they didn't put it in just because it already existed. It's literal perfection. He voices Mafuyu so well it literally hurts they didn't add his song.

I’ve noticed that recent characters that involve canonical singing and songs, funimation has been casting actual singers as them. Like Amalee and Uta, as well as Brandon and Mafuyu.
Amalee’s voice is perfect for Uta’s voice and her English covers on UA-cam are amazing, same as Brandon’s covers as Mafuyu. I feel like funimation knows they have restraints on dubbing songs in anime so they cast skilled singers/va’s so they can have the chance to put their own version of the song on UA-cam👍
