These old vortecs are tanks when maintained and treated right. My dads 4.8 last over 280k and could have kept going but my mom (the goat) decided to have a new block put in. With over 40k miles on and it's a champ
I think jiffy lube cross threaded my plug, I can't barely turn it out, I got halfway and I'm exhausted, I can only hope the oil filter ain't that way too
The bolt was dethreaded and it had a spring in the hole, so I pulled it out and put a self tapping oil plug in after I fished out all the metal shards from it with a magnet, I sure hope it isn't messed up inside from metal shards. But a tiny spring to tighten the bolt blew me away, I never realized such ingenuity existed...

It's amazing what some simple maintenance can do on these vehicles!
Nice, thanks for the reminder. I need to do my cars oil soon too!
You should!

I hope not! Good luck to you!

I have the same truck mine also needs a oil change
Get er done!
There rear Main seal looks to be bad?!
Yep, it's leaking. Every oil change I only loose about .5 a quart so I will take that over having to take everything apart for the time being 😬
Your truck oil capacity is 6 quarts? Very nice video!
Thanks, yep 5.5 quarts for the 5.3L engine! Thirsty engine!
@@TheEngineerNextDoor55 👍🏿
Im pretty sure it takes 6 qts
Yes, can you count? A 5 quart oil jug and 1 quart of Lucas stabilizer. 1+5=?
It does, all my oil doesn’t drain so 5.5 quarts what I need to add for my oil level to be just right.
