A six and a half mile walk from Brierley, through Lydbrook and Ruardean with such a variety of terrain. Woodland, quiet roads, fields and lanes with long views and spring blossom.
There is still one working mine here in the Forest, it's called Hopewell Colliery". They do underground tours. Do check it out of you're ever in the area.
A lot of my family used to live in Ruardean from the 1600-1800s. They were mostly coalminers. I'd love to go one day.
