Leon's custard is good, but I like the daily rotation of flavors they offer at Kopp's. Sprecher makes soft drinks AND beer, and they offer tours. I'm surprised you didn't mention the Miller brewery tour; it's interesting to see production on a mass scale. In late June there's the Downer Classic bicycle race through the streets of the Downer Avenue neighborhood on the (north) Eastside. The Wisconsin State Fair takes place in adjacent West Allis in early August. For different eats, try the Serbian food at Three Brothers or the Vietnamese at Hué, both in the Bayview neighborhood (SE side) which has lots of other cool shops and restaurants. Lastly, when a Milwaukee hotel employee asked where I was from, I laughingly said, "Oh, I'm a FIB" (which BTW actually stands for F***ing Illinois B******). He got a little red in the face, laughed, and said, "You're not supposed to know about that." Wisconsinites have a love/hate relationship with Illinoisans. They love the money we spend in their state, but they hate our aggressive driving and attitude. If you remember to dial it down several notches, be "Midwestern nice," and DON'T DISS THE PACKERS you'll be okay.

As someone who moved here just over three years ago, tourists shouldn't limit themselves to just downtown. Each neighborhood has its own vibes and hidden gems that residents and tourists alike should vist. Also, some of the nearby suburbs have fantastic eats. We love Milwaukee. We stay at the Hotel Phister. One of the oldest hotels and beautiful architecture. Another neat history place behind the Brewers stadium is one of the oldest VA hospital areas. There is a large modern VA but there is this Victorian village behind along with a cemetery. It was one of the first commissioned by Lincoln due to the Civil War and was built in the late 1800’s. Also don’t miss the Wisconsin State Fair in August and get a cream puff.

It is a spy-themed restaurant at 779 N Front St, However, you will need to know the password to get in... or you'll be asked to perform some silly antics (which is on the tvs in the restaurant). I agree that it gets pretty cold in Milwaukee during winter. I live in the suburbs but I'm a city girl at heart. I stay at hotels on downtown Water Street a lot. I walk everywhere in the winter. Just dress warmly & tough it out for a few blocks. There are several skywalks that help make the walk a little easier. A lot of people don't know about using them. They're not just for connecting businesses.

You can also go inside the historic City Hall and the Basilica of Saint Josephat huge church room. The most impressive thing for me about the city are the Urban Ecology Centers(3 total) that are community areas that work to preserve the natural environment and also act as a lounge or place to learn and volunteer for anyone who wants to. I also checked out the Gordon Bath House ruins from when German was the most spoken language in the city in the late 1800s. Only the front wall remains as a buffer between the building and the Milwaukee River although the river was quite far away so I'm not sure if it was just low tide, if the river has moved, or the water levels are lower now

As a local Milwaukeean There's few things to talk about that you started on, but went no where near. *1* The Beaches - We have more beaches than the cement path you showed behind the art museum. Bradford Beach is just down the road and it's world class. South Shore Beach/park is one of the best lakefront areas to take your family to. Ok fine, don't go in the water there, but the park itself is amazing and it's got a great beer garden. DOn't forget about Doctors park, Grant Park (7 bridges), and the other amazing parks up down the shoreline. *2* Markets - We have more than the public Market. DOn't get me wrong, I love the Public Market, but there are so much more. The neighborhoods in Milwaukee love their local shops. I've been going to Groppi's in Bay View for 40 years it's changed a lot in that time but its still got the feel of the old polish market it once was. *3* Sure the winters are cold, but we still know how to have fun when it snows. Don't just come when the weather is nice. Visit us for our winter events too! No one has more fun than someone with a cold beer and freshly baked giant pretzel in a foot of snow. *4* Visit everywhere. This video shows about a 5 mile radius in Milwaukee, but there is so much more. Our neighborhoods are all different with with different vibes and you really should check them all out. From Downtown to Harambe, to Greendale, to Shorewood. Take it all in! *5* We are the epitome of Midwest nice. Grab a seat fill your glass and lets have a good time! There are no strangers in the 414 (unless you're a Bears fan).

Be sure to visit the Milwaukee Public Museum and check out "Streets of Old Milwaukee" exhibit in the next year or two if you can! The museum is moving to a brand-new building in 2026 and won't be taking a number of its classic and iconic exhibits with them because they're literally built *into* the old building itself, and the Streets of Old Milwaukee is one of them, unfortunately. It's been the most popular part of the whole museum since it first opened back in the 1960s and everyone is bummed it won't be making the transition to the new location. So go and see it while you still can!

I can't believe you showed "Zayna's" on Brady street. I have lived within 5 blocks of that place for 25 years. I ate there once. It is bulk frozen food thrown into a deep fryer. Glorioso's however is glorious!

A tradition in Milwaukee is the Friday Night Fish Fry, this isn’t just during lent, it’s all year. During lent they’re hosted by churches.
Also, visit the different neighborhoods like Riverwest, Bayview and Wauwatosa.
Lastly, there are beer gardens located throughout the city and some are temporary and move to a different park every week.

    Neigborhoods
Downer Ave on the upper east side. Lots of pleasant shops, restaurants, and only a short walk to the lake.
North Ave between Oakland Ave and the lake front. Lots a good places to go. Hooligan’s, Von Trier, and the oriental theater.
Bayview lovely place on kinnickinnic Ave.
Bluemound heights and story hill. Great places to go before a Brewer game.
    Miller Brewery is very cool.
County Clare Irish pub and Inn
    Swingin’ door exchange
    Oakland Gyro
    Collectivo coffee of the lakefront
    Southshore park beer garden
    Estabrook park beer garden
    Juneau park beer garden
And last but not least all the theaters for the performing arts. A must see.

Eyyyy! Welcome to my city! Why the heck were you even here?! I literally left the country to escape the RNC. I always recommend the Villa Terrace and the Pabst Mansion and you GOTTA go on a tour of Great Lakes Distillery and Lakefront Brewery. Thanks for giving this place a video :)

It's technically not a museum, but I'd also recommend visiting Best Place. It's the pilot house of the original Pabst Brewery, and they have a really interesting tour and a super cool collection.

I've been looking into a nice small city to relocate to, and Milwaukee is towards the top of the list. I'm fron NY and our climates are virtually the same, I like snow and cold weather, love german food and drink, but I want to live in a smaller scale city with a lot of natural beauty and interesting architecture. Based off this video, I think I'd be happy there, only thing is, whats the job market like there, and how dog friendly is it?

Maybe similar to upstate(Syracuse, Rochester or Buffalo), but not NYC. Much colder in the winter and often quite a bit warmer with humidity in the summer than NYC.

For a unique bit of history, don’t forget to visit the St Joan of Arc chapel on the Marquette University campus. The chapel was originally built in France in the early 1400s, and visited by Joan of Arc in 1429. The chapel was abandoned after the French Revolution, and sort of rediscovered in the early 1900s. The chapel was originally reconstructed in New York before being gifted to the university in the 1960s.

Here's a don't we learned the hard way. We went to an opera in the third Ward in February and we're driving around 0°F the next day and stopped at Miller Park. We went inside thinking it would be heated. It was not! What was heated was the restaurant inside, Fridays I believe? It was zero outside and you go into some doors and you don't expect it to be zero inside! They were apparently exposing that field to all the natural elements, year-round. We found a warm place but it was about a hundred more feet farther than we thought it would be.
