Man…you’re really good at explaining this stuff, especially for people who use some of this gear a little bit don’t understand it’s full functionality. I never really understood pre/postfaders till now. Thanks a lot 👍
Great info! May you not get tired of sharing your knowledge about the sound system and how things are done properly. Thank you and please continue in your good deed.
That great brother 🎉🎉🎉 most likely I used the auxiliary for reverb and delay separating for vocal on analog mixers, but on the digital is totally different ❤❤❤
Thanks so much for your video. I have two questions. 1. Does the PRE button only impacts the aux 1, or both Aux1 and Aux 2? 2. There is a single knob for Aux2 and FX. So it is duel purpose knob? Controls Aux2 volume as well as FX intensity for the channel? Thanks in advance.
Very informative. Although I didn't understand how exactly to connect an effects unit (eg, reverb/delay) to my vocalists. I understand the Aux out and the Aux mix control, but how do I get vocals to go to the efx unit and then return?
I connected yesterday a Zoom H6 via 1/4” cable on both ends to a mixing board, I connected it to an Aux and my final recording was pretty bad. I could barely hear the instruments and the vocals sounded at a distance. I activated the -20db pad on the Zoom. Those aux outputs were used for headphones, but the sound tech told me that I could use them. I am not sure what happened.
Awesome video on using the Aux! Firstly a massive thanks to Kettner Creative, it's thanks to you that I know how to use my MG12XU mixer. One question though, if I wanted to have multiple monitors with different mixes controlled by Aux1 would that be possible, or would I have to use aux2 for a separate mix and be limited to two monitor mixes? Thanks again for all the useful content!
Hi, great channel, recently subbed. I purchased the Yamaha MG10XU for a live show that we will be taking on the road. I’m new to the audio mixing space. Your videos on this mixer have been most helpful, thank you. Question - I need to take two line outs from the mixer. One is to send the mix to an Atem Extreme for the livestream. The 2nd line out is to feed a house audio system. What are your recommendations for achieving this? Thanks in advance.
I would use a 1/8" TRS to dual 1/4" TS cable (currentprice.io/14_to_dual_18) to go from your stereo outputs into your ATEM. Then send the XLR inputs to the house sound system.
I run my subs through the aux channels for separate volume control when I do that should I leave the aux 1’s pre fade off and on post so that it matches the aux 2 volume
Great Video - Interestingly, I have that very Yamaha mixer, the 12MG XU. The question that has been driving me nuts is what set of outputs to I plug my EV18" powered subwoofer into to run independently of the main speakers. I've heard that i should NOT use the MONITOR outs, which seemed the easiest solution. Would I use the AUX sends or perhaps the GROUP 1-2 outs?
Hi Jordon We have the Yam Mg12Xu and use for vocals and guitar , what is the best way to use so vocals and guitar can have own controls into the monitor so the guitar doesn’t owner power the vocal , we just have the one floor monitor we both share
Does the Aux 1 and Aux 2 work in the same way. Whether we can get Effects (Reverb) in the Floor Monitors on Stage through Aux 1 and Aux 2. Or can we cut off effects (Reverb) in the Floor Monitors through Aux 1 or 2
I believe he mentioned this is the pre and post fade section. I would try pressing down the ‘pre’ button on the selected channel and turning the aux dial to either eliminate reverb (all the way down) or turn dial clockwise to add reverb.
What about stereo aux output ? Wouldn’t you have to use both aux one and two? Then you lose pre or post option. Why is it so elusive to find a budget mixer with 16 aux mono / 8 aux stereo outputs for iem mixes.😂 they seem to cost the earth.
Most people looking for 8 stereo monitors would have an input list with more than 48 inputs. This would easily put you in the territory of a full scale digital setup.
So Aux the Pre-Fader function means I can have different output besides the Main output? That means I can control the Aux volume separately from the Fader and not effecting the Main output, right?

I always enjoy and appreciate your videos at the same time. Calm, informative, no bullshit. Thank you.
I run an Aux channel for people on the phone line, and another to Skype/Zoom in the computer, both with MinusMix for their input slider.

Nice!!! Do you have a video on how to connect amps to the mixer using the aux input?
good stuff man.. thanks
With this mixer You’re saying to run external Effects you have to commit another channel to just effects return (AUX2)?

Awesome videos my friend - thanks a lot.
Very clear explanation
Hi thanks for sharing this tutorial. Very helpful.
May I ask,
Is there any way that I can convert an aux output into aux input?

You have to use a separate aux for each mix
Always helpful. Thank you.
well explained, Kudos sir

Does subwoofer sounds better when fed through Aux send from a Mixer?
Hi sir please Yamaha mG12xu full review explain ❤ I'm waiting
Aux Output .. what Kind Needed ? .. Is It MonoTS or Stereo TRS ?
I have the Yamaha mg12XU!If I want to run my subwoofers separately and use the aux send, how should I plug my two subwoofers?
Am I able to hear EFX through the AUX sound if I'm using it as a monitor?

This is off subject But I want to know how to connect Dante adapter to my mg 12xu

I believe it’s via Aux 1 or 2. The monitor outputs are literally for studio monitors and not floor monitors. Seems dumb to me but worth a try.

can i use the aux output for connecting my audio interface

I can’t get a good sound when recording acoustic drum with the mackie profx16v3
Wait, how do you use aux send on a Livestream?
yes, where is the return input after you sent the audio through the send output?
You can connect it to any input channel on your audio mixer that you want.
@@kettnercreative i see. But i wont have the "traditional" control over its amount per channel, only for all channels simultaneously?
The aux output is mono. How can you convert it to stereo in order for your earphones to work left and right. ?
You would need to use two aux channels if you need stereo.
@@kettnercreative2 mono ts to stereo trs? Thanks for the reply
