Security personnel prevent unpermitted photography in public areas not because "they do not like it", but; by law. What has been happening since the early 2010s and the consequent hike in terrorism is that they became particularly sensitive towards such activities. This, considering that photography is actually an important part of terrorists' operations.

And also, I know Egyptian workers are an honest, hardworkers and very humble! Thank you Doug, keep up the good work...
This is a great channel actually. The angry guy thought you are filming to make fun of them and to distort their image as poor people. Some people do this, so he thought that you do this as well. He didn't know that you do great videos and that your point of view is going to be positive not negative.
Yeah, that's right, but still, that doesn't give him the right to yell at the tavelers people like that in front the camera and the public it's pretty rude, he's making it worse by his own image, kind of sad....
@@yaabro663 I am not justifying what he did actually. I just said what he felt because he was saying this in Arabic. Of course his action was not good. It was rude because tourists are our guests. They should be treated the best way. He didn't even ask about the real intention for filming and took a quick decision that is based on his own thoughts. He could have asked the Egyptian guy to know the reason for filming, or even asked to stop filming in a polite way. However, in all countries, you can meet good guys and bad ones. In Egypt, the majority love tourists and like to welcome them and it is so clear in all videos about Egypt. Tourists are more than welcome to visit Egypt. 🌸
There are 3 mega projects Egypt is currently handling. It's a new building spree comparable to the Pharaoh Rameses massive projects but this time 100 times over. Another massive project Egypt has undertaken is the homongous fishpond enough to feed the whole Egypt with more for export. The third is greening of the desert for additional living spaces.

Greetings from Egypt. Love your content, you're doing tourism the right way. By the way, the architecture of the Octagon and the government buildings, including the ones in your video, is ancient Egyptian architecture with some modern motifs; the Octagon in particular is purely ancient Egyptian architecture throughout, we are happy about this here in Egypt because we didn't want some shiny city that has no character; we have thousands of years of ancient Egyptian architecture that is being employed in the new capital, and personally this is why I'm excited about it. Oh, as to the guy that didn't want you to film, well, to explain why is to explain the current politics in the region. So, some of our neighboring countries (mainly the terrorists-supporting Qatar and Turkey) are antagonizing Egypt and absolutely hate the fact that Egypt is advancing, so they constantly distort the image of Egypt and the image of our president in their media/news (such as their "Al-Jazeera"). Contrary to what these Egyptian workers may seem, they are actually sharp as hell, and are aware of what is going on, so that guy became suspicious when he saw you focusing on them instead of the buildings because he was afraid you may be doing this to later distort (which is the word he used) their image, and instead of portraying them as hard working Egyptians, you are going to do what Qatari and Turkish media do and distort their image and say "look how the Egyptian workers are suffering at the new capital of Egypt to build palaces for the dictator (or other such nonsense they say about our wonderful president)". So, the guy was saying: "No, don't film us, focus on the beautiful buildings, don't film us and distort our image". I blame your Egyptian friend though, he should have reassured the guy and told him that you are just a tourist that is interested in the food and culture, he would have calmed down; or he should have at least explained the situation to you. Don't let that put you off, the guy was just being protective/defensive. We Egyptians are being attacked for nothing but wanting to advance our country, and the people here are tired of it. Two years ago I was asked for my ID by a police officer in Cairo because I was taking a picture near a monument, I was annoyed and told him that I didn't do anything wrong to be asked for my ID, so he insisted, and after he took the ID and checked it, he came back and gave it to me, while he was giving me the ID, he smiled at me and said: "by the way, we are here to protect you". So, don't let that put you off either, we are fighting the terrorism that our neighbors are constantly supporting and exporting to us, and believe it or not, years back during the period of political unrest, the terrorists used to sneak around and take pictures of the sites that they would later attack, so there is that. Thankfully, this is over now, but the police and military are just not letting their guard down. Anyway, sorry for the long comment.
Thanks for the support!! And both my friend and the uber driver Mr. Khaled tried to explain to the guy and calm him down but unfortunately he got pretty aggressive so we just decided to walk away.
@@doug_barnard: Yeah, tbh the guy seemed like he has a temper too, what I'm saying is that there is a reason for what he did. Anyway, your videos are awesome, it's like I was taking a walk in the street with you, please keep making them that way.
Just found out your channel and I've literally watched almost every single video in one sitting, it's fun to see how we Egyptians meet foreigners and stuff, Some are very friendly and some are very annoying and just mean in general towards non Egyptians because they feel like foreigners are mocking the place instead of loving/exploring it. I'm really glad to see you explore all sides of Egypt and still have a positive look towards it, as an Egyptian I haven't seen the New Capital before so this was kind of an adventure for me as well seeing you there meeting different people and such, will be amazing if I somehow meet you irl, I live in Maadi, Cairo and the 5th settlement. If I ever see you I'll definitely be saying hi, you're an amazing guy and keep up your videos.
When you were so mesmerized by the construction and art in the cathedral I realized you never went to the coptic monasteries or churches or even the coptic museum. You should consider going to see the original wall art that's still vivid from 100s of years ago or the places many of the Egyptian saints used to live.

@@adhamsiddeg4973 which one? and why do you say so?
Security personnel prevent unpermitted photography in public areas not because "they do not like it", but; by law. What has been happening since the early 2010s and the consequent hike in terrorism is that they became particularly sensitive towards such activities. This, considering that photography is actually an important part of terrorists' operations.
lol so terrorists have made everyone fear videos? sounds silly and dumb imo.
I drove past the new capital 2 years ago whilst en route to sharm, wow it’s definitely taking shape. Great video Doug.
thanks garry! definitely cool to see it as a work in progress
Doug. Your videos are really nice. I think it's absolutely great and important that you, an american guy, are traveling around the middle east showing the nice people, tourism and places to visit. I just saw a video of you with a kid from Irak.
Congratulations buddy and keep up with this great content.
Stunning ... the Mosque and the Church are both magnificent.
That moment when all the construction workers huddle together and say hello into the camera was so heart warming

Dude thanks for two amazing things:
1) Showing the modern side of Cairo which is totally different than the historic Cairo.
2) Recording with the cheerful labour who do the actual work and who deserve to be appreciated.
Keep going 👍🏾👍🏾
absolutely, they deserve the recognition! thank you for watching 😊
Absolutely, you did an amazing job, and really it touched me when you communicate with the young construction site workers. Because I've been working with construction companies for years. And also, I know Egyptian workers are an honest, hardworkers and very humble! Thank you Doug, keep up the good work...
Thank you so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
I laughed a lot, when you did not find Azzam, you seemed afraid 😂😂😂
Yea HAHAH
As he should be
Hahaha yes
This is a great channel actually. The angry guy thought you are filming to make fun of them and to distort their image as poor people. Some people do this, so he thought that you do this as well. He didn't know that you do great videos and that your point of view is going to be positive not negative.
thank you!!!!
he's a fool to elect himself to decide the motivations of others and their thoughts. idiots should stay quiet.
I love Egypt

Love the video Doug! It was funny too. Thank you for being here. Laughed about the street food vending guy. 😅 Hope the construction workers from Hassan Allam don't get in trouble. But hey, they did some P.R. for their company ! 😁

When you were so mesmerized by the construction and art in the cathedral I realized you never went to the coptic monasteries or churches or even the coptic museum. You should consider going to see the original wall art that's still vivid from 100s of years ago or the places many of the Egyptian saints used to live.
Yeah I was curious about that too. Maybe next time Doug will visit them
