    In this video guide, I'll shows you how to plant tulips and some leftover daffodil bulbs (Narcissus papyraceus) for a beautiful display of flowers during the bleak winter months, to tide us over into spring. This is an easy way to grow indoor bulbs and how to make tulips bloom indoors.
    Bulb forcing is a trick that many gardeners use to take care of the winter blues. Grow bulbs indoors and give them as a festive gift or use them to add to the festive decorations in your own home. Watch and learn how to plant the bulbs in vases (I used three different styled and sized ones) indoors, how to look after them, and how long they take to flower.

    Thank you so much for this video! I really can’t thank you enough. I recently purchased some bulbs because they were on sale and figured I still had time to plant them in my area. I asked for help on a Facebook page and was met with negativity and was very discouraged. With this video, I’m certain I can help them grow. You’ve earned a new subscriber! I cannot wait to see more of your videos. I’m always happy to see someone speak on a topic they’re passionate about. I am very grateful.

      You’ll only get informative and positive vibes from this channel Kimberly. If you still have the bulbs they are actually best planted in December and January. We live in the south, I know, but if you plant them too early the bulbs will get a higher chance of catching a virus which will affect the growth and vigor of the bulbs and blooms. If you still have not planted the bulbs yet. Go and get them in pots. A loose potting soil, plus bone meal with the bulbs at least 6 inches deep will make for a good show in the spring. Let us know how they turned out. Can’t wait…. 😃

    How can i get those bone meal and bulbs. I am from the tropics of Manila, Philippines. Thank you so much for posting this simple technique. Stay blessed!

    • @ACORNHILL
      @ACORNHILL  3 роки тому +3

      Hi Marlene! Thanks for the kind comment and welcome to Acorn Hill. One of the easiest and best ways to achieve the same benefits of bone meal (a phosphorous supplement to improve plants ability to bloom healthy) is to use water and banana peel solution. Get 2-3 banana peels (from 2-3 bananas). Place them in a container filled with water ( one tabo full). Let it soak for 2-3 days. The. Use the solution to water your plants.
      I use this often when I don’t have bone meal. This is also the subject of an upcoming vlog. Hope to have you on our channel often. If you have some homesteading and gardening queries. Just chime away and I’ll answer your questions. Again, many thanks
      Be safe! 🙏🏼

    Tell us about the granite rocks again? I used river rocks in mine. but they can get pricey. how much did yours (if you don't mind me asking) cost ?

    • @chrissantos2704

      Those rocks were granite chips? Cool!

    • @ACORNHILL
      @ACORNHILL  3 роки тому

      I got them for $3.99 per 1-square foot bag. Way cheaper than buying small batches of river rocks. So it’s hands down more economical in my opinion.

    Its the end of January 2024...Im in Northeast Florida & I just bought a bunch of bulbs. Im planning on putting them in a garage refrigerator for about 10-12 weeks then use this method with water/stone/glass container INDOORS at my dining room window, which is large...so i get a lot of natural light. Im sure it will take a week to get most of these bulbs(so beginning of Feb), but i have 20 coming tomorrow. Am I okay on timing if I get these bulbs growing indoors after the 2-3 month cooling period? In April/May....Thats tulip season right? Im a newbie!! 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

      Hi there. Such an exciting growing experiment. Your plan of placing them in the refrigerator is spot on. They may however grow faster once you have them set up in the jars with stone and water. The amount of light and warmth in your part of the world is consistent than the rest of the country. You may be more advanced in getting them to flower than some of us. But otherwise, I feel you’re on the right track. Good luck!!! 😃🙋🏻‍♂️

    Which part is "forcing the bulbs"? Do I add water at rock level ? Let with questions. Am I using a growth light.

    • @ACORNHILL
      @ACORNHILL  Рік тому

      “Forcing the bulbs” really is just to make them bloom early from the time I got them in the fall into December. I have to say only 75% of the bulbs bloomed for me. It could be the quality of the bulbs I got. But still, not bad considering these are supermarket bulbs. Just add water at rock level so as not to get the bulbs to rot. Make sure they get light and even heat. If you have grow lights, why not, right? I don’t have one and placed mine near the window with good southerly exposure. This was one of my early bulb videos. I am sure if I do it again, I’ll get a much better success rate. And also a new set of tips. Hope this inspires you. Much thanks for chiming in. Let me know how yours turn out Sharon. 🙋🏻‍♂️
