  • My friend Nate took me to a secret spot for agates. It’s an unnamed creek in Washougal, Wa in the Pacific Northwest. #rockhounding #thefinders #pnw

Thank you for sharing this! I spent 32yrs on the upper Wash River (Salmon and Dougan Falls area mostly) and miss it incredibly. As a kid hunting agates was the best rainy day adventure I could have. I still have a decent box full of beauties. lol Seeing this brought back special memories of the forests in the Great Northwet. I'm living in SW desert now. Finding this video was like getting an unexpected postcard from the past. TY

You are in my agate hunting area. I have found some awesome agates, petrified wood, fossils, primitive stone tools and amber. There is abundant petrified wood in the lower river/stream areas and many different types, although mostly smaller specimens. I have not been in the exact area where you were in the video, looks pretty rough going there! I’m glad you had the chance to explore here, you found some great agates! I look forward to your next videos! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! It was pretty rough haha, I got a little cut up but not too bad. Good to know about the petrified wood, we were expecting more so it must be further down stream. I'm glad I got the chance too! I grew up in Woodland but moved to central WA about 5 years ago. So it's nice to be back in the lush forests of SW WA :)

Your in my neck of the woods now! Heck yeah. Climbing through vine maple and blackberries to find some rocks is always a good time lol. That area looks pretty good! Nice change of scenery from the usual.

I would say that 1 piece is definitely pet wood. You seemed uncertain, so im telling you that it certainly is!

Yeah man! I'm glad I could change it up! I figure my videos have gotten a little stale going to the same places all the time. Lots of fun and a great spot!

Okay that's reassuring, I'm skeptical about identifying pet wood haha

What an awesome adventure! Secret spot of heaven right there haha! Loved every bit of this thanks for taking us along. I live in the NW of WA and its nice to see other areas. 5:15 had me drooling... I don't see many water lines with alternating Carnelian lines in them that one is spectacular! Cheers✨

I spent a whole summer on the Washougal River in 1982. Unfortunately that was a long time ago. Long before I even knew what an agate was. I did find some arrowheads though.

Hi guys! Loved your video! New to rock hunting and been here in Washougal for 3 years, would love to check out some of these creeks. Are these timber sale private property? Or are there parts that are open to the public?
Can we access this creek anywhere is my question?
Thanks for your awesome video, it was direct, full of great pictures, lots of info, and no bs in it which I appreciated the most 😉.
Looking forward to many more from you guys! Thanks ❤

Hi Jennifer! So you’ll want to find areas in state or national forest. Around washougal you can explore the Gifford Pinchot or Yacolt Burn forest. Those are public :) thanks for the comment!

So I didn't get to go until last week. I checked those Tree wells that blew down on the way down saw nothing. Did find a little creek with material. I have another location not too far from here if you wanna check it out. Do you know anything about the channels that run through it the bottom? Or the Shaft looking pit filled with water?!?! Gunnar?
