I Love The Fact That They Are So Approachable, The More I Listen To Them Speak, As Well As Their Music, The More I Love Them As Human Beings As Well As Musicians...
Individuals with strong opinions and immensely talented. We have to respect all that has been accomplished through their brotherhood. Their young beginnings coincided with my childhood. In 1969 I was in the 3rd grade and very much a fan. Also the other fellow musicians from that extraordinary era. I am who I am because of the music I grew up on. The doc "Echo In The Canyon" from around 2015 by Jakob Dylan is so good.
I wish I'd watched this before trying to get Crosby's autograph having easily got Nash and Stills when they toured the UK. Stood outside for 2 hours after the show and when he came out I held out my copy of his first solo album and he just shrugged past me: "Sorry man. I don't sign." I have bought every single note of any music he has ever released and I was gutted. He did apologise to me on Twitter later. I suggested he should ask questions like: "What film did my Dad win an Oscar for?" [Tabu] or "What was the first folk group I joined?" [Les Baxter's Balladeers ] that only true fans would know.
I always loved Crosbys work the best, due to the jazz he infused into his sounds and the incredible scat singing he did with Nash, it was far above and beyond the usual folk and rock stuff. However I met him, outside a venue, we couldn't move the traffic out was so bad, we parked, went behind the hall and had a smoke, where we found Stills doing the same, he came over, there was just me and a friend, he asked for a cig, he left his pack in the tour bus, so we chatted about all sorts of stuff, he was such a nice friendly gentleman, then from the bus appears Crosby, marches over obviously cranky about something, I said hi David, he said fuck off, and then shouted at stills "I need you in the bus now!!! we walked off, they walked off it was a horrible end to a beautiful night....
Nash has always been the glue that held these guys together. Not the greatest song writer or player in the bunch but the one who kept it all together and as long as he is mad at Crosby this band will never play again.
I could be mistaken but I think I heard Nash starting to crack as far as his not wanting to reunite with the band yeah I think I heard him insinuate that there is a chance so yeah I think it's a good way to develop more of a desire for the public to really want to buy tickets I mean sounds like good promo bait to me anyway
Great interview as always great anecdotes! Steven seemed like he had a few too many cocktails in the "green room". Also he seemed to have a problem getting used to his new teeth whether they be false or implants. Crosby was the most well spoken. I have loved all three 45 years!
David Crosby was always accused of bad-mouthing everyone and saying things that pissed everybody off but in most interviews he seems like the diplomat of the band.
They so smoothly coordinate talents. Glad they brought in Graham from England. His high vocal tones balance out the 2 other guys. These 3 peaked from about 1969 to the early 1980s. Moods of the times mirrored their creations. Love 'em! * Cav *
love cannot die if you open up your eyes and sail inside your mind with your sails set on high, love can fly like you would fly on your flying horse, with wings open wide, love should be there to open your sky up wide, and pure love will endure if you. are sure that you want pure love, pure love should embrace the whole population of mother earth, imagine how that would be, if pure love could be achieved!
I grew up with a friend like a brother, together we went target shooting, fishing and backpacking, sang together in the High School choir, played CB radio (I was on his roof putting up a new antenna more times than I can recall) went mountain biking, shared stereo gear, sports cars, Thai dinners, LPs, CDs, cigars and joints. - He recalls a lot of things correctly - *_except for the memories from his drinking years,_* then he gets all sorts of things twisted & confused while thinking he's dead-on accurate.
In case anyone is curious/wondering/interested, the song someone asks them about that they can't recall is called "Chuck's Lament", from a 1987 movie called Amazing Grace & Chuck. It's absolutely beautiful and you can hear it here: ua-cam.com/video/V_GO3NqWRmw/v-deo.html

Check out from 32:50-33:00 And 43:05-43:10 😢 It's such a tragedy that Graham has decided never to forgive David, ever. The whole story of their falling-out is awful. Complicated. Only a situation that two people who have loved each other fiercely, supported each other unconditionally, and harmonized so magically can sadly be in.
Love 'em, saw them in 2004, learned much from them on harmony...but these are 3 self-absorbed guys, who are WAY too convinced of their importance in this world
I don't think that applies to Crosby and Stills...they both know they made music that was important to lots of people, but it's only Nash who seems to want to point that out and underline it over and over again.
Graham's ego is soooooo gigantic, I'm surprised his head doesn't explode. And this was before he dumped his wife of 36 years and took up with a joni look-alike waif half his age. I can't stand his latest solo effort, pure drivel imho; waif, now wife, took the cover photo.
They pretty stilted and their differences personally seemed to have made them seperate, but they can still sing great. Nash is coming across a bit angry though
Between them they have about 900 songs...the honeymoon is over for CSN...Graham Nash has re-invented himself, moved to NY and remarried (2019).This on the heels of his book and now a new album...his heart is wide open now and he examines the effects of it all with his lyrics. He's been asked often recently about the current rift with David. Won't discuss it but possibly he's feeling the "so much love wasted on the way" right now on a man he called brother and friend, jus' sayin'...
Before the flood human beings had hundreds of years to live on the earth. (Much more than two hundred years). After the flood our time was cut short drastically.
You're with yourself all the time so you better,LOVE THE 1 YOU'RE WITH😘😂Right on,eh?Then you're with the mother,earth,then thy father who's within you,eh?Eh!?🇺🇸👊
I'd let an uber producer like Rick Rubin or Glyn John's wrangle their attitudes and get them to put out a end message LP essentially out muscle them lol Stephen is playing great and Croz is writing again.
They worked with Rubin and were going to make an album of covers. It was to be called "songs we wish we wrote". The band wanted to have a couple Beatle songs on it but Rubin only wanted one. The project led to a disagreement between Rubin and CSN that it didn't work out. They continued without Rubin, but ultimately it didn't work. The several songs they did work on are in the Sony vault. Hopefully one day it'll come out.
Nash is the diva in the room. No surprise at his attitude. But he is correct in his comments about autographs. Crosby is (literally, now) dead wrong and sounds like a miserly 🦨.
I'm convinced, mostly by Nash whom is one of the most honest people on earth, I'm convinced that Crosby did a lot of $hit stirring up that led to a lot of arguments and tearing apart of the band....
From the first album until he cleaned up, It was the Croz's drug use (and denial of it for FAR too many years) - as well as Stills's mammoth ego - that created most of the turmoil. Then there was Neil Young -- an unquestioned musical genius, but nearly wholly unreliable as a bandmate. 😩 ☺️ You're correct though about the last 10 years or so, until Croz's passing last year: His scathing criticism of Daryl Hannah, and Young's decision to marry her, seemed to be a sad, final breaking point for the band. 😢 Some things are better left unsaid, certainly after you've been through so many "wars" (good & bad times) with people you claim to love. I found it interesting that, to my knowledge, Croz _didn't_ similarly lambast Nash for doing exactly what Young did (at least not publicly). RIP Croz 🙏🏻💛, and here's to hoping that Graham & Stephen get at least one more collaborative project in, before they hang up their guitars for good.
53 years. You’ve touched so many lives. Still listen and am grateful for the thoughtfulness, playfulness and companionship of your universal anthems throughout my life.
🎥 Howard Stern Interviews CROZ*Jun 22, 2021 ua-cam.com/video/JqjoEkOg-Bo/v-deo.html Howard: Graham +You ~Feel like you guys are almost brothers. CROZ: Well, i did too. It came as a kinda shock to me. He blew it pretty badly with me, man. He said a bunch of really awful stuff (Howard: book {Wild Tales**}) “David Crosby Doubts CSN&Y Will Ever Reconcile”**Croz calls Graham’s memoir Wild Tales “shallow” and “very self-serving” and is one of the reasons behind their feud started in 2014.
Wow these guys really saw the world thru similar specs ... i think they have too high a degree of scepticism for me , tho i love them very much .... if u watch the dvd box set of monteray festival 1967 ... crosby gives a tirade about JFK being assassinated by CIA which i still think is a little far fatched but god bless them... hope they can patch up their differences
@@Golfstar17 Why do you say that Jonathan? Graham spent years, starting in the early 2000's going through all the CS&N catalogs, then Crosby's & Stills solo catalogs so he could build a master collection of all their music, then produced the Digital Re-Mastered Box Sets for each of them. Crosby's, Stills & his own. That's about 1,000 songs that I've heard of. So he was pretty busy doing that, plus still touring, writing new material & producing everything. I just think he keeps to himself, plus doing a lot of studio production work sorta leads me to think he does the most work out of CS&N.
One of my absolute favorite bands since they came out! Stephen Stills, out of the three, is the best, in my opinion. He wrote the best lyrics, best music and kept his mouth shut. He also didn’t live a life of debauchery like Crosby, and doesn’t pontificate & wax philosophical on everything, Iike Graham Nash does, ad nauseam. Neil is just awesome! Stills and Young, the best two. Graham Nash, and I believe Crosby has the least amount of talent out of all of them. That’s not to say I don’t like any of his songs. I do!
@@marcusbradley4399 Crosby is iconic to the 5% who like to give the middle finger to society, cordiality, humility and politeness. So yeah he has that rebel patina on him while Nash took the more conventional route. But those of us from that era grew out of the Crosby mentality when, well, when we grew up. Musically Crosby is a jazz-man, avant grade mad scientist. Nash is a hit maker. Different strokes for different folks. But Crosby could literally disappear from CSN and you wouldnt miss him. He barely played on the Daylight Again album because he was so out of his mind and they used session vocalists. You love Southern Cross? He didn’t sing on it. I think that makes Nash more “significant”
@@edd2771 I think Nash also had the ‘middle finger to society’ mentality. Crosby was more vocal about it. And I think you do miss David on Daylight again. His one song on that album is arguably the best. And when you look at their solo careers it’s obvious that Crosby was on another level in comparison to Nash. Nash was good for sure. But not as good as CS or Y.
@@marcusbradley4399 Delta is a good song. They dug it out of archives and included it to make the album plausibly a CSN album. It’s a good song whose inclusion makes my point. Name one interview where Nash spouted Crosby-like vitriol such as Crosby saying “i stand up for what the hells angles did at Altamont “ or Neil young’s wife is purely poisonous predator. Doesn’t exist. Not even close. If you prefer Crosby as a solo artist that’s great. If you prefer him as a human being, I fail to understand.
Graham Nash is showing his butt and has a lot of "know it all B S" about him. David is going to be 80 years old. If they want to make any more CSN music, they had better forgive David for whatever they still hold against him, speaking mainly of Neil and Graham. Life is short. If David dies, they will ALL be very sorry.
RIP, David Crosby, thank you for your music and being in my life and others around the world. The amount of music that these 3 have made is tremendous. peace and love everyone
The boss and the glue was the musical genius Stills- hands down. Nash was the interactive “conscience” of the group.

Yo quando sea grande quiero ser como Stills......

If you're watching this and under the age of 30 then God bless you. 😁
Ps- SS was drunk. It was at Joni's house. Lol.
Before the flood human beings had hundreds of years to live on the earth. (Much more than two hundred years). After the flood our time was cut short drastically.
Nash has got a lot to say hasn't he.
He is a very intelligent and articulate man and he has done a lot of work with the old tapes and the history of the group.
Love their harmonies but their iconic status was assured when they added an edge to their repertoire in the personage of Neil Young.
Neil Young’s awesome 👏
I’m so upset about the riff between Graham and David! It’s very sad because according to Graham, he will not talk to or perform with David again!
You're correct though about the last 10 years or so, until Croz's passing last year: His scathing criticism of Daryl Hannah, and Young's decision to marry her, seemed to be a sad, final breaking point for the band. 😢
Some things are better left unsaid, certainly after you've been through so many "wars" (good & bad times) with people you claim to love.
Now they don’t talk to each other anymore. Lol.
Time ......the old enemy.
❤️
Yes we need whistleblowers.
53 years. You’ve touched so many lives. Still listen and am grateful for the thoughtfulness, playfulness and companionship of your universal anthems throughout my life.
41:36 lmaoo look at croz
3 antique relics.I love the guitar four feet in front of Crosbys stomach.
Lol I wouldn't be surprised if the interviewer was Sacha baron cohen haha!

🎥 Howard Stern Interviews CROZ*Jun 22, 2021 ua-cam.com/video/JqjoEkOg-Bo/v-deo.html
Howard: Graham +You ~Feel like you guys are almost brothers.
If anyone know's who killed JFK, I'd believe Croz 100%!
Nash seems a bit defensive,and chip-on-shoulder-ish?
He's always come across that way
Let's give him an attitude adjustment
Yeah but can't you hear him asking those tough questions in his songs? Graham said it best, ''We are your voice.''
Because he was by far the lesser of the trio
Not just America, Nash - dont forget China
The voice of Stills is as if he had a mild stroke. His speech patterns are unclear.
He is almost deaf....that is what has impacted his speech.
URIAH HELSINGER I think he has had two strokes, 2009 and 2011
Does sound as though Stills has had a stroke. Would it have been that, or his deafness? His hearing has been affected for many years.
He's deaf . That's why.
He's deaf.
I do!
Surely Nash is the least significant no? Crosby is iconic.
You have poor taste, and are clueless as to songwriting, to make such a dopey comment
Graham Nash is showing his butt and has a lot of "know it all B S" about him.
David is going to be 80 years old. If they want to make any more CSN music,
they had better forgive David for whatever they still hold against him, speaking
mainly of Neil and Graham. Life is short. If David dies, they will ALL be very sorry.
my thought exactly...Croz has apologized ad nauseum...
Too late now 🎸
