Tonight is a tribute night to David Crosby at our house. SO VERY SAD to hear tonight of his passing although not totally surprising. A little eerie because in a conversation today with a 30something who asked me what my favorite kind of music was...and my response without hesitation was 'old rock and roll'. When pressed for more specifics I said 'Well, if I'm going to be on an island and can only have one music it will be Crosby,Stills and Nash. So strange. But I loved and admired this man...for his talent, his genius, and his human weaknesses. It's hard to believe that we will never again hear that golden voice or the harmony it created with Stephen Stills, Graham Nash and Neil Young. We're toasting you here tonight David....Rock On.

I hope you had the CSN mid-70s album/CD with the sailboat. 'Darkstar' was on it & a lot of great songs.
His best lyric was the line 'Sunset smells of dinner' on 'All Along The Lee Shore'

I’m going to listen to Shine on you crazy diamond with Crosby and Nash joining David Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall. One of my favourite songs with an added dimension with their harmonising vocals added to it.

Marva, I hope for your & your family's sakes, the mid-70s CSN LP w/his sailboat on the cover- played fully or at least completely as it's really the best of all incldg w/ Neil (CSN+Y). Why? Because he's the best & most flexible & productive, prolific of the bunch. If he was a Babe - he'd be Marsha Brady or Lori Partridge; *edited for clarity:Re NY-instead he's a Man into coke woman & not the Mother & his Wife (Pegi Young) who deserves better than she rcvd by a spouse.

One of the highlights of my life was meeting Mr. Crosby in a jewelry store in Coconut Grove (Miami) and I told him, truthfully, that IOICRMN was my favorite album, that I'd worn out 3 copies of it, and he said if I'm bring it in the next day, he'd come in and autograph it. And he did! Great guy!!

The last time I saw them CSN&YOUNG
Nash and Cosby just stood on-stage looking
very incompetent in the Huge Shadows Flung Across
      That Stage.
Stephen Stills and Neil Young just blew the lid off the place.
It is in my Top 5 concerts I have ever attended !
I attended my first concert in 69/70.
Emerson Lake &Palmer first tour of America.
Crosby had a guitar hanging from his neck and he was just
      fingerings it.
There was no way he was ever going to stay with those two

David Crosby may have done some of his best work in the last 8 or so
so years. i just loved him, & now he’s gone missing. you know he had to, i guess it was his time. except you never want it to come.
    He became just so sweet
& generous with his words & his time in the last few years of his life-
from judging joints on twitter to an advice column for Rolling Stone Magazine. One
of the most inspired song writers of his generation.
Those of us who grew up with him will miss him.

David Crosby is so articulate and that comes through in his lyric writing which uses allegory exceptionally well. Couple that with his sense of harmony and that makes for music that lasts probably well beyond his time here on the planet. His politics is not to everyone’s taste but that’s ok. He’s not ramming it down people’s throat.
Thank you so much for putting this up on UA-cam as it is so enlightening.

I think I’ve finally figured out Crosby. He was a cat in human form.
A cat always pursues his own agenda, never says no to pleasure, and thus can be a pain in the neck. But you put up with it all, because a cat’s so d*mn charming.
    Crosby was one charming cat.

Wouldn't have necessarily agreed with that before I became a cat owner, or I should say cat provider. Long story, but this cat I named Houdini, because he's an escape artist, magical, and a thief...as he stole my heart. So now knowing what I've learned from a cat, and having met David Crosby even for a brief time, I would say he does closely resembles a cat's personality.

Since I, like many with whom I've spoken, believe there is nothing closer to God in this life than the music of love, and since David Crosby is just about the finest musician known to me, having delivered, I believe, just about the finest music known to man, I find he scares me somewhat.
Between his talent, intellect, insight and ability to convey such a phenomenal perspective through his music and to the rest of us, It's like having a small amount of God in our presence.
No doubt he (David) would balk at the thought, but let me just say, in true humility do we most clearly see a reflection of the mind & heart of God, for God is love.

David's greatness began with the original five Byrds. The most wonderful thing to happen to the 20th century! Rough & rowdy as a unit but that's what made them great. Only McGuinn & Hillman left now, sadly. We may not be younger than yesterday & David (Gene & Mike) may be gone, but they were the jewel in the crown of American music. Love them all. Missing you David Crosby 😢 I've always loved your music, writing ✍️ how you put it altogether. Today's generation has no clue what real music sounds like. Listening to the story that is being told, no foul language or nasty dancers showing off their privates. David's music is about reality, politics love. Prayers to his family. We have lost a legend! R.I.P David Crosby, play your Beautiful music to the Angeles!

This is such a wonderful interview. I think that sometimes David can cross the line from witty to sarcastic (which is not a good thing), but in this interview, he stays on the correct side of the line that allows for him to truly shine.

bobcat williams he said the opposite. Ppl who love war hate america. Ppl who start wars to make a reason to implement tax cuts are evil. Gw, reagan and his iran contra, senior bush helped kuwait escape the wrath of hussein for OIL only, and now asshat trump wants to go to war. We know who really hates america.

I used to think he was the least talented of the four. ( SYNC )
But now, i think he was the quiet genius lurking in the back so to speak. When i heard his solo album from prison....i realized. The" glue" indeed.
And the Bush, nucular thing...total agreement.
