I'm right there with you, i was 13 when this came out and back then getting an album or cassette of your favorite band was hard! Mom n dad weren't shelling out ten bucks to get you everything you wanted! I rocked this album till the wheels came off!!
@Adam Vesely Yup. Cassettes were gold. I pretty much grew up on Defenders and Screaming for Vengeance, along with Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind from Maiden. My how times were simpler back then.
I moved to northern Michigan this summer. Its an awesome place. And it so relaxed here I have time to listen to the whole priest collection, unlike when I lived in Texas.

To you, probably because you are in your 50s and you got stuck in the best years of your life. Painkiller is the song and album that defines the highest point of Judas Priest's career for millions including me, it's the heaviest and most elaborate sound of the Rob Halford era and it's by far the most viewed track on UA-cam.
@@lupussignatus8131 That's very subjective. I'm probably from your same generation and I also think like Javi, that Defenders is my fav album and Freewheel Burning is my fav JP song. Painkiller is my second fav album, but Painkiller is not my fav song from that album, it's probably Leather Rebel or One Shot At Glory.
Dont get me wrong Judas Priest in the 80z was a force. Some of those songs from British Steel to Defenders got me through HS. Painkiller is a pioneer album for sure that opened up new doors and a genre. But nothing and I mean nothing can touch the Sad Wings of Destiny and Stained Class stuff. Beyond the Realms and Victim of Changes especially. Its like there are three great versions of this band.
This really isn't true, but this is a great album. The Sentinel is one of the greatest songs of all time. Exciter's Heavy Metal Maniac, Savatage's Sirens, Manilla Road, Satan's Court in the Act, etc. Those all came out before this, and are decidedly heavy metal. Now, if you said Priest's early work, more specifically Stained Class, you'd be correct.
This Album was my very first Taste of Judas Priest. I heard this Song 2 weeks before the album hit the shelves, and when it dropped I was at the record store.
This is the only thing which will get me to watch another Fast & Furious movie..... Judas Priest better not give out this song to Universal Studios then...
Such an underrated album. I remember seeing them in Dallas just after this album came out. Dokken opened up for them. Probably the best concert I have ever seen. Rob is the ultimate live performer. He and Bruce Dickinson are in a league of their own.
Yea they sound better live. Not many bands sound better live. Only a handful, priest, alice in chains are the only two off hand I can think of that blows there albums out of the water live.
@@MRSludgedude Maiden has always blown their studio versions out of the water. Although Bruce struggles more on super high notes, he gets pretty close. I saw them this year in Austin, absolute banger the whole way through.

This was my first ever experience of Judas Priest. I bought a Metal compilation in WH Smith around 1986 and this track was a standout moment. Followed them ever since. 🤟
Bought this on 12 inch vinyl back in early '84 and the album a few weeks later. One of my favourite Priest albums, RH's vocals incredible on this track and guitar work as good as ever.
In the early 80s,I was around 14 and lived in my hometown in Costa Rica. I met a American metal head who played this song. I was blown away and felt in heaven. I became an J.P. fan since then. Thank God I have seen their shows in America. This song represents a landmark in my life. Thanks for sharing.
I was in highschool when this came out... falling asleep with the cassette tape playing on a Sony Walkman...of course borrowing it from my older brother 😊 so good
One of my favorite JP songs, loved playing the rhythm guitar everytime I play it. I was very happy this was included as a track for racing in Gran Turismo 4 along with Turbo Lover in Gran Turismo 3

My favorite Judas Priest song. They’re the band that got me into metal in the first place.

It is the best part of this track for sure. I still remember it since the 80's i first listened to it.
