For those who wondered why this version is different from the one you usually hear being performed by violinists. The version of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto usually performed (on stage but not in the Tchaikovsky competition) is the one modified by the famous violinist Leopold Auer. That version is not used in the Tchaikovsky Competition. Violinists in competition must used the original Tchaikovsky version, and thus Denis used the same original one to transcribe from, not the Leopold Auer version.
Quite a "tour de force" still so convincely rendered! Everything is there, violin sound effects intended by the composer...pizzicatos, harmonics...outstanding!

this is a perfect example of why flute teachers should not insist that the embouchure be directly centered for every student. Look at his off centered lips. Then listen to him play! Incredible!!!!!

Amazing performance. Much credit should be given to the wonderful pianist who stayed with him perfectly in spite of a very difficult piano part.
