3:34 - I like how Ryu Goto smiles in a way that says "Of course. Master Vengerov will nail that left-hand pizz each and every time better than anyone else could."
He has probably the best pizz technique/style on the world, if I remember correctly he even stated once how determined he was in his young age to pratice pizz as much as he can to master it, after his teacher scolded and sent him home.
I would argue that Midori Goto's pizzicato is on par and for my taste, slightly better. I've always loved Midori's Tzigane's but now that I've heard Maxim's, his version of the whole piece edges hers out a bit. I still prefer Midori's pizzicato and maybe some parts though.
Why You don't watch the interpretación of young vengerov. it's more crazy and presto. For me is so hilarious how play when his was a young, his like a crazy vengerov.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. I have been attending Maxim’s concerts from when he was in his 20s. He plays some of the most difficult pieces. He has technically mastered the violin. ❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Danke Augustin!!
No, very late ;) Heh... ....because this performance was taken down a few years ago and now its back up to view and listen to. Thank goodness for those who don't have a copy of this particular performance!
My 18 yr old neice played this piece before a church audience while backed by the local symphony orchestra - and I hated the piece! It seemed to drag on forever at the start and here and there I thought I could detect flats and sharps where they didn't belong...pitchy to my untrained yet discerning ears. However, upon listening to this very commanding performance by Maxim, I now can give a better informed critique of my neice's performance: The reason I wasn't impressed when I heard her perform this same piece was because hers was at best a mediocre performance of a very complex piece! That being said, Maxim is indeed a true master of his instrument, and an excellent instrument at that, such a forceful and mellow timber. Kudos and bravo to this exceptionally brilliant musician!
My Romanian mother would have loved this. 'We danced to the tzigane' she used to say. Such happy music. Sausages and cabbage. Thank you for her Maxim.

For him to stop playing, turn around, and start conducting is the most sigma thing i have ever seen
