  • We have had some crazy weather in Alabama these last few weeks. We have had some warm days and we have had some very cold days. Luckily, during the really cold days we didn't have chickens. We have been busy keeping cows fed and getting ready for our. next flock of birds.

Yep, it has been some crazy weather, we woke up on morning to 3 degrees and really low wind chill, we also had a bunch of ice with a little bit of snow, a real mess, Thankful that no one I know lost power or had chicken or greenhouse problems🙏🙏🙏

Losing power is always our biggest fear, especially when we start having ice. Glad yall managed alright.

Thanks! We may wind up needing some assistance. It's a little out of our area of expertise. The guy at Ayrstone has been very helpful so far. We had to order a part so we can hook it all up to our Starlink. Hope to get it going in the coming weeks.

I haven’t had 14 days out since the no antibiotics crap came along. Which is a few years ago. Usually 17-24 days. I hear this next time will be 30 days.

Same boat, our out time is 25-30 days. Rediculous

Our problems are starting to compound because of our short downtime. We really need 18-21 days. We are short on growers so they have been placing chickens back sooner and sooner. Now we are having all sorts of issues with hepatitis, dermatitis, ecoli etc... We are selling about 85-90% instead of 95% so it's causing yet another shortage in chickens to sell. We are having to fight to get them to pay us fair. At the end of last flock we were picking up close to 500 dead each day in just one of Eric's houses.

Who do you grow with? 25-30 day downtime is a long time.

I’m with Wayne-Sanderson in NC. Average 60 day flock. Usually out time high teens - low 20’s but they said this time will be 30.

That’s awesome. In the future I would like to see some videos of it decaking and windrowing. I have a 85 horse and it’s pretty cumbersome in the chicken houses. I just always thought that anything less than 75 horse would be underpowered, but with the prices of the 90 EL I just can’t swing it.

Y’all do not quite understand real Cold, I’m taking your tire frozen slightly flat on one side and rolling down the road like you have a block of steel tied to your wheel. Crazy cold that can freeze a frown on your face.

😂😂 No argument there! We live in Alabama though where it's not supposed to be 8 degrees.

@@FarmerHunt got to give you a bit of a hard time, could not resist. What happen to that new Young Star you had on a pilot, was his contract prices go high? Seemed like a talented guy with promise.
