    I really don't like the way they whitewashed RhaeRhae, especially by making Laenor's death a staging or removed the part where she fed Vaemond corpse to her dragon, while making Aegon worst(a rapist and a child fight enjoyer, seriously??). They removed his "what kind of brother steal his sister's crown" line, also even removed his dragon Sunfyre the most beautiful dragon in history who was supposed to appear in the coronation. Instead we got that "show-only' Rhaenys nonsense scene🤦.

      Agreed it seems these showrunners don't want any great Aegon moment but instead a "good queen fighting the villain king". I hope they will do him justice in season 2 because Aegon and also Rhaenyra are the most important characters in the dance of the dragons. As for Sunfyre maybe they lacked some budget to properly show his magnificence🔥

      Aegon I think they did well, UNTIL the scene they made him a rapist & someone who watches his bastards fight in the pits. Should have kept him as a sort of Aenys but douche type imo, I’m not even a green but that was doing him dirty. I feel like what they did with Rhaenyra on the other hand was fine, they portrayed her still as a rather inspired person but overall unwise (reference her scene with Dundarrion & Blackwood) Ruler. More interested with power than human life, it’s certainly not pure good in her portrayal. Also the books as mentioned above are based on Rumors and Tales of which would obviously favor Aegon as he was more popular and a man.
      (People I think they did especially dirty in my eyes)

      I am worried they will do a Renly/Stannis sort of deal where in the show they made Renly pure good and Stannis rather more evil. As opposed to the books where they are both rather complex as people and rulers, provoking philosophical questions in the reader

    If I were Rhaenrya, I honestly would've made a point to forge relationships with my half siblings and I would feel out the situation as the years progress. Aegon already didn't want to challenge her in his youth WITHOUT even having a relationship with her, so imagine if she were close with her siblings? also, as the years go on and the time nears, if the events still end up the same despite the good relationships, I would broker a deal similar to the one offered to her when Aegon took the throne and she was offered Dragonstone and Driftmark for her now "legitimate" heirs. I would publicly and privately support Aegon for the throne. This is if everything turns out the same anyway. But we wouldn't have an interesting story if that's how things went down of course. I personally would be happy having the power my last name already brings me anyway. there's no need to go in to civil war for "power" Look at the queens in times past. Alysanne, Rhaenys, Visenya... idk about others that were on that level, but still.

      Very true! Having a very strong relationship with the people that might fight against you can change the story. I would also try to tell Viserys to not get married since If she's really in his prophecy. He won't need a wife or other children.

      The second viserys had a son with alicent war was inevitable.
      The hightowers, since the time of the conqueror, have been trying to marry into and have an heir on the throne.
      They tried and failed with maegor
      Peace was never an option.
      Rheneyra could perhaps have left westeros with her family, but since she believes that the prince that is promised comes from her line, she feels it is her duty to claim the throne.
      Even if she had given up, Daemon would never yield.
      I guess she also feels that she is literally the prophesy girl,so her victory is preordained

    i honestly dont think they tried hard enough to have legitimate children. Rhaenyra herself says "the few times we lay together" and Jace was born within a year of her marriage to Laenor. it wasnt long before they gave up and used Harwin and even if it had been YEARS they should've chosen someone who looks more like Laenor. Even smallfolk in Lys have features similar to valyrians. so its not impossible to find someone who she could have kids with that will more believably pass as legitimate. they could had a sex worker from there shipped to pose as a servant and sneak him into the bedroom at night.

    • @9xprincess
      @9xprincess 11 місяців тому +10

      Exactly! It would have been politically difficult as the Velaryons are extremely powerful and would do anything to keep the marriage but it would still be possible if Rhaenyra was savvy enough. I place the blame a lot on Corlys who knew his son preferred men but still went with the match. If he was less egotistical and valued his house over his own personal pride he should have married one of his nephews/younger cousins to Rhaenyra not his gay son.

    • @blissinchains
      @blissinchains 10 місяців тому +6

      THERE, I agree! She should have and it would absolutely positively be solid ground for an annulment. TBH the only thing I think to stop that was her father's *needing* the Velaryon alliance to have peace. Well, he should have done *his* duty and married Laena, just had children with her once she'd matured. I mean Aemma was 11... 11! When Viserys married her--and the show made it look like marrying a 12 year old was the worst thing. Bro, you've just been retreading old stomping ground. And alternately, she could have come clean with her father regarding Daemon and forced his hand to let them marry. Daemon wouldn't have been happy, but he rarely ever is, and so... yeah.

    Rhaenyra does suck at making alliances, if she was smart she would've had her son's fostered in other Kingdoms like in Winterfell or the Vale. Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark became friends and allies because they were both fostered at the Vale. Rhaenyra also should've betrothed Jacaerys to a different House that way that House would support Rhaenyra in upcoming wars instead of betrothing both boys to one house. Or better yet Rhaenyra could've declared for Baela as heir to Driftmark while buying land and having a castle built for her son's by Harwin and letting them be heirs to that castle on that land crating a Cadette house of house Targaryen just like House GreyStark and House KarStark were founded by Stark's who were 2nd or 3rd son's to the Lord of Winterfell.

    • @blissinchains
      @blissinchains 10 місяців тому +3

      This too. And forging alliances by trusting other noble families to have a hand in raising children was a thing medieval families of note did routinely. Anne Boleyn was famously raised in France, a HUGE honour. Or, sent them to Dragonstone to have them out of sight, but well-looked after and educated while she stayed in KL.

    Leaving Kingslandng is not a mistake. Or at least not completely. We must understand that Rhaenyra is an AWFUL politician. Like she has NOTHING on Allicent, whom is quite the capable schemer and politician.
    She has no allies in the city, specially now that Harwin is dead (I am talking of episode six) and before that he was exiled.
    What WAS a mistake was not hosting people in Dragonstone or visiting them with Jace, she has strong relationships in the Vale and the North. She should have sold Jace as the heir as much as possible, fly around with their dragons to remind them of the Targaryen power, that despite looks, Jace has the blood of Aegon the Conqueror.
    Also why the heck she waited six years for the bethroal of Jace and Bela? Whom seem to have a cursh on each other from the get go? Like she does NOT need Rhaenys approval, Daemon's word is more than enough, as their father and Prince of the realm. Like she does not need to go and beg, she can easily rope Rhaenys as an ally without her consent, this could be an interesting insight into Rhaenyra's lackuster understanding of politics.

Rhaenyra did nothing for her throne feeling just entitled and believing everything will be just given to her perfectly knowing that she should try twice harder as a woman.
      It WAS a huge mistake and her unwillingness to demonstrate she is a good heir.

    I would make the argument that
    (This is a practical argument on political maneuvering towards their goals not a moral one, I do have moral opinions but those are irrelevant to this analysis)
    Rhaenyra leaving for Dragonstone was not a mistake on her end given the fact Viserys already had a council of opponents of hers in power. It was a mistake of Viserys. This being because she most likely would have just been put under Arrest immediately during the coup. If she had stayed under the conditions as they were shown. If Viserys had appointed allied figures in the small council to his proclaimed heir and removed the Greens (her main opposition) from positions of authority in the small council, potentially even fostering Aegon with Rhaenys or some other black aligned lord. Then her leaving would be her mistake, as is presented in show, Viserys is to blame on that strategic error. Not Rhaenyra
    It’s like blaming someone for moving out of the way of an incoming axe into a thorn bush (Rhaenyra) and not the person swinging it (Otto/The Green Council) or the person who is behind the Axe person with a Gun (Viserys).

      Rheanyra is definetly to blame, not Viserys for this one. She is supposedly afraid for her childrens future? So she hides herself at Dragonstone. But for what? They are going to have to leave Dragonstone to claim the Iron Throne at the Red Keep at some point, this is just delaying the inevitable. Unless of course, she really means for them to stay at Dragonstone forever and give up their crown that way, but than they are out of the race for the Iron Throne which for all of her talk of her childrens safety is not what she wants I guess.
      Honestly they are going to have to come to the Red Keep at some point and deal with Alicent and Otto trying to arrange to have them killed. Unless of course their plan is to go to Dragonstone to have more fire power in the form of dragons, but if that is the case I do not know why they tried to have Rheanyra be the peacemaker in ep 10. Also in the books this last option didnt work out for Rheanyra all that well

      @TheRepublic4 Рік тому +4

      @@nadjapavlovic5953 You start with a faulty premise in your argument. Whilst Viserys is alive The Iron Throne cannot be claimed, and as mentioned above THE GREENS HAD POWER IN KINGS LANDING GRANTED & BACKED BY VISERYS, the hand was a Green, the Queen was a Green, most of the Council were Greens (exempt Beesbury). If she had stayed she would have been captured and shoved in a cell before she even knew Viserys was dead. Unless Viserys changed the above Power Dynamic beforehand, she was not in any position of real power in King’s Landing, Viserys was. Staying was basically inaction & death. He wanted her as heir and could have put her allies in power instead of her enemies. Hence to THEIR goals, I put Viserys at fault for her leaving. It's never mentioned, because it's only relevant re: the marriage, and not re: his sexuality but: nobody ever, not once, considered that Laenor might be infertile. They did have sex, and nothing happened. She and Harwin also had sex, around the same time (so we know she was fertile/ovulating then), and surprise! A baby boy several months later. So this could be not simply to protect their marriage and her reputation and solidify her position, but also to prevent Laenor from being a laughingstock? Because she's gone to great lengths in the show to finally make that man happy--lord knows it was clear he'd rather be anywhere but beside his wife (let alone in her bed) even when the going was good. Laenor was just not that great a guy, either. Rhaenyra made poor chocies--but people like you act like she was the ONLY one to make them, and the point of ASOIAF is that EVERYONE survives by making poor to terrifying choices.

    I hate the fact that people try to say rhaenyra is a bad person by using fire and blood, it was written by a maester who was pro-green and its implied that they may have altered history to paint the greens in a better light due the fact that the hightowers are close with the maesters, citadel and faith. Its true that rhaenyra wasn't in the best state of mind during the last year of her life but I don't think she was a bad person she just grew paranoid because she lost all her children something very traumatic for her. Hate rhaenyra all you want but it's clear she loved her children and watching one by one die was extremely devastating for her. I feel when people judge characters they should put themselves in the characters situation instead of looking at it objectively because at the end of the day all these characters see things in different way (ex: Alicent sees rhaenyra behavior as absurd due the her religious upbringing while rhaenyra sees is it as being free and enjoying her life since she's never been the type of girl who like following the rules both ladies are in the right if we put ourselves in their pov. It is only us, the viewers who can point out that their both in the wrong in one way or another since we can clearly see that alicent is in the wrong for shaming rhaenyra for what she does due the fact that she does the same when it benefits her and rhaenyra is also pushing the boundaries by trying to pass off three bastard children as velarions and expecting everyone to be ok with and she expects to get away with everything cause she is the heir).

      @@drrohanjacob5343 How are the Strongs purer? House Strong was descended from the First Men and House Hightower the Andals, so both the Green kids and Strong boys were half-Targaryen. So saying the Strongs are purer than the Greens when both them are half Valyrian is weird.
      You do know that Daemon did not hatch a dragon right? Neither did King Viserys, Princesses Rhaenys and Alyssa, Princes Aemon and Baelon? All of them claimed their dragons. So are you saying that these Targaryen figures are not pure dragons because their eggs didn't hatch? Make it make sense.
      Aemond claimed Vhagar as his grandfather, Prince Baelon did, and Helaena claimed Queen Rhaena's dragon Dreamfyre. Having a full-grown dragon is so much more advantageous than growing a hatchling and waiting years to ride them.
      The Greens having Vhagar was one of the biggest issues the Blacks had. Vhagar killed Arrax and Meleys, burned the Riverlands. The Blacks had to hire dragonseeds for more dragons but then two who rode Vermithor and Silverwing betrayed them. And in the end Daemon and Caraxes had to do a suicide mission just to take Vhagar and Aemond out. But with Daemon dead, the Blacks lost their biggest asset. Without Daemon's help, Rhaenyra was ousted from KL and fell into the trap in Dragonstone and died.
      Daemon and Rhae's son took the throne in the end but that was because he was the only one left [no one knew Viserys was still alive]. Aegon II named Aegon III his heir and not Jaehaera because he realised now that no one will ever want a woman on the throne after Rhaenyra's disastrous half-year reign.
      *And btw, Viserys never hatched a dragon, so saying all Rhae's sons hatched dragons is inaccurate.
