The band has made a number of visits to Montreux over the years and this concert from the 2013 Festival is undoubtedly one of their finest live performances. The set list blends tracks from early seventies albums such as "Tres Hombres" and "Fandango" through their eighties blockbuster period with "Eliminator" and "Afterburner" and up to their most recent release and return to their blues roots with "La Futura". The middle section of the concert features a jazz-blues tribute to the late Montreux Festival founder Claude Nobs with guest appearances by Mike Flanigin on Hammond Organ and Van Wilks on guitar. ZZ Top, the "lil' ol' band from Texas", are rocking the blues as strongly as ever!

To all you young rock stars who want to "play the guitar on your MTV", watch Billy, "that's the way you do it". Learn your instrument, do 300 nights a year for 40 years, and you too could become a master. Never heard him do it live trio before, but damn if it's not as good or better than the record. All respect to the Rev.

I've seen them do this song many times in concert, and I have to say that this is one of the best renditions I've have seen. For some reason Billy would go off on a guitar lead that totally changed the whole body of the song, like he has to prove that he is this great guitar player (oh and he is!) and so I was somewhat disappointed with the performance. ZZ Top has been around for 51 years, and I saw them (pre ZZ Top) as The Moving Sidewalks, they played at my CYO Dance in summer of '69, so I've been listening to them for 51 and a half years and I've seen them evolve from a psycodelic surf rock band, into the biggest boogie blues rock trio in less than a years time! Billy has his new band now, but without the accompaniment of Dusty Hill it's just not the same for me. Three dudes. Two with beards, and Frank Beard.

The sections between 0.52 and 0.56 are amazing because he manages to sing without opening his mouth and the guitar is seemingly able to play itself.

That's because Dusty is singing at that point, and it's perfectly possible to play a guitar without strumming the strings, just by fretting it. Just have to have your gain cranked up - if you watch his left hand, he's still playing ;)

figliodeifiori The bass guitar (also known as electric bass, or bass) is a stringed instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric guitar, except with a longer neck and scale length, and four to six strings or courses.

figliodeifiori he said two guitars not two electric guitars. Reading with comprehension is important that’s why people overdose on medication accidentally due to lack of comprehension of what they read. An electric bass is still considered an electric bass guitar, it’s certainly not a drum is it.Btw not being critical of you , just pointing out it’s better to be logical, peace cause we all love Z Z Top

Sorry to tell you but there's someone else playing on the back ... you can hear it clearly in the intro at 28 s or 30 s and other moments too ... Believe me i worked on zz top concert and im a guitar player myself ... The second guitar doesn't play much but it would be impossible to play the high notes and the riff at the same time... Its the same guy that plays the synth on rough boy or some of the sequences on eliminator songs like legs ....

For years these guys were third billing for concerts and I must have seen them a bunch, but mostly did not pay much attention as I lumped them in with Ted Nugget who was also a second or third billing. Years later they finally moved up the charts and started headlining. I give them credit for sticking with it.

Billy Gibbons has a great vocal range. He can go from his normal singing voice and then he can go real low like in LaGrange when he says “they got a lot of nice girls there”. I can remember back in the 70’s seeing them and noted his range. So he plays guitar like a master and he can sing like one too! All three got it and I love it!

I like it when Gibbons misses notes and he doesn't care at all. This is how rock 'n roll is supposed to be.

Billy Gibbons doesn't miss notes. He just doesn't feel like all of them some times.
